I was in November class and made 45 days and slipped up. I'm on day 3 now and would like to join in January 2016 class for the new year.

Day 1 of the beginning of my authentic life without the crutch of alcohol. Excited about my healthy future and what I can accomplish.

I'm in... 2015 was a year of on and off drinking... one month off.. two months on, etc. I need to make this change and get healthy. What a great place soberrecovery is!

Happy, sober New Year!

Me too. On and off.
My plan needs work on self care, getting trashed is not a reward.
Also drinking to fit in, is ridiculous.
Good luck to us all.

I'm popping over from the October class to say welcome! I'm early in my sobriety, but it's already been better than I ever imagined. Getting sober is the best decision I've ever made. It's a little rough early on, but it is so worth it! Congrats to you all for making this life changing decision : )

Happy New Year!
I'm here... Ready and willing I recently did 30 days sober but relapsed over Christmas. Wasn't the worst, but made me realize I need absolute sobriety. I have gotten so much from reading everyone's posts. I'm hoping by posting myself I can get the support I need. Let's do this!!!!

Hi, I'm on day one again and am really going to need some support. I've tried and failed quite a few times now. I really need to make this work.

Hope everyone's looking after themselves so far this brand New Year. Our moment is here!

It's been a day of reflection for me, supplemented by the trials of Christmas decorations removal with the family! I've thought about the person I will be when I am well on the road to recovery. A more patient dad and partner, able to give my honest commitment to work. Able, at last, to actually enjoy the mornings and the possibility of doing a run or other worthwhile pursuit before work untarnished by poison. Security in the knowledge I am no longer destroying myself, slowly but surely by drinking.

I'm determined to also keep in the forefront of my mind a couple of recent wakeup call moments, which fortunately didn't come to any consequence, but did give me a hell of a scare. One where my drinking habits for the first time frightened my young daughter. The other being my own safety when on way to work on a "morning after" commute. I knew a sober life was urgently needed when these events happened. A huge red flag was planted in my consciousness.

I'm closing out Day 4. Fortunately I've not to date encountered any major physical effects, beyond some sleep disturbance and night sweats. That said, I've also had a bad head cold, which has had the added bonus of silencing my AV quite significantly - although I'm being vigilant.

I've so far prepared a working plan, with a brainstorm of actions I can take, triggers and warning signs to address from past experience. Plus things to do if the wheels threaten to come off. I have also found a real connection with AVRT and am well underway with my reading of "Under the Influence", by Milam & Ketcham. So far, all of the above very useful to me.

I think we've all come to the right place here to make a huge and unbreakable commitment to free ourselves in 2016.

This year is all about control, I am going to center all good things that I want to happen around the word control. I have been out of control for tooooo long. Started drinking after being sober for a year in 2012 and its been down hill since. I am taking inventory of my life starting now and the booze, the binge eating and the wasted days on the sofa or sleeping all day long are being taken out of my personal inventory of my life. I AM ready again!

Hi

Hi Id like to join also. My last drink was about 12 hours ago. This site helped me get to 14 months a bit over a year ago. But the past 12 months has been a bit of a disaster with my experimenting with casual social drinking - which always ends in me drinking in the mornings and isolating.... I did have about 4 months straight sober this year... so intellectually I know I can do it, however I am feeling very vulnerable, like a failure, and fearful today, and doubting myself enourmously . Nice to meet everyone and good luck, we can do this.

Dee you helped me a lot last time, thankyou in advance again.

Working on my plan. I never really put enough time and effort into it.
Got the folder and started writing it up this afternoon.
My the triggers section really resonates as does 'how do you feel when you feel well'.

I'm gonna commit to spending at least 30 mins on it everyday.

Feel good.

Day 2. Accountability is king.
