24 Hour Recovery Connections Part 96
Happy New Year to you all. It's been a while since I posted, well since my beloved father passed away in February, but I'm still sober and I'm doing okay. 2015 wasn't a good year for me for lots of reasons so hopefully things can only get better. I had a job remembering my password and it will take me a while to get my bearings again but I hope to be checking in regularly and catching up with my friends. I'd like to thank you all for your support and it is lovely to see so many familiar names still posting. Love to you all. xxxx
Lots of folks will be making resolutions today. Some will include quitting drinking among them. What I love about this thread is that it doesn't have to be New Year's Day, this thread is an open invite, 24/7/365 (or in case of this year 366), to let everybody else know that TODAY I will not drink. Doesn't matter if this is Day 1, Week 1, Month 1 or Year 1 or beyond, by checking in here you are making a public commitment to stay sober for today and after all, the past is gone and tomorrow is always in the future, so today is all we have for certain. Together, we can DO THIS!!!!!
With all that said, it's now 6:10 AM and I'm with you all for another day sober.

^^^^ This.
Something I figured out early on this site is that I had a memory for peoples' usernames and for their stories.
One day in the first six months of sobriety I was on my favorite hike and I got one of those thoughts of drinking that was really persistent. I started thinking about how everyone here would tell me not to do it, and I started listing every username I could think of in my head. I bet I came up with thirty or so, from memory. Every username I thought of, I thought, "Oh, he/she would tell me not to do it, he/she is on my side, they are pulling for me, they are fighting the same fight, etc." It worked.
The list on this thread usually has 40-60 names a day. If you are struggling, write them down, or print the list and carry it with you. We are your people. We want you to succeed.
Happy New Year, all you crazy-named people.
24 more for me, please. 6:24 AM
