Good morning everyone! Just wanted to check in and say I hope everyone has a great day!
I'm headed to 3 basketball games & then errands. Feels good to wake up on a Saturday morning with no hangover!

It's hard to believe that 56 short days ago I was in SUCH a dark place & all I did was put the plug in the jug and work my recovery plan & today it's night and day!

***Here are some of my very first posts in November 2015 (I never want to forget!) :-( What I DIDN'T mention in my first few posts is that I was thinking about suicide every night after I drank. Sad...so very sad! And I DIDN'T want to die...I just wanted the pain to stop. When I stopped drinking it DID! Thank you God!!!***
----------------
Posted on 11/5/15- (10 days before I had my last drink!)...

"Trying to start my life over and stop drinking before it kills me. I've been a horrible person while drinking & I am about to lose everything. Looking for support."

"I may go to an AA meeting tomorrow, read this website & try to get some exercise. I only have 28 hours of sobriety so I'm really nervous about screwing up. I really want to never drink again. It has started to make me feel extremely depressed & hopeless. It's a miserable feeling...hellish really."

"I would turn away a million dollars to be sober. I just want my life back. I recently read something that said "alcohol is the devil's poison". It made sense to me because drinking makes me feel like I am in hell. :-( God is much bigger!"
--------------------
If anyone is still struggling...NEVER EVER EVER GIVE UP!!! If I can do it YOU can do it!!! Put your sobriety #1 and everything will fall in place. It's not easy but it is SOOOO worth it! If it wasn't worth it & I didn't feel 110% better I would still be drinking!

Love you guys!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Checking in on day 7! Made dinner and watched a movie last night. Lots of sleep. I'm looking forward to finally beginning to put the house together. Off to Home Depot. Take care.

Congrats Missy, and Kiki - some wonderfully positive posts there

I'm sorry you're still low Patricia. Maybe do something nice (and life affirming) for yourself tomorrow? Little steps

You can do this Dallow

I was at the concert and had a really good time - sober

At one point I just looked over the audience and tried to guess how many of those are alcoholics. Which of all of those sneaked out to the bathroom to have a sip of some liquor that they secretly brought with them, in addition to the wine they were drinking publically.

Must have been some I suppose, unfortunately there are many of us out there. I am happy that tonight at least, it wasn't me

Other than that, I am trying to accept my past. I am now thinking of my alcoholism as something that would have gotten to a really serious level sooner or later no matter what. Like something I had to go through, a kind of physical and mental destiny if you will.

Because of certain events in my life, I reached a really low point around the age of 30. Even though I feel regrets about that, I knew it was coming. In other circumstances, maybe I could have been a high risk moderation drinker for many more years and then ended up getting my low point at 40...or 50.

But it happened now, and I should in some ways consider myself lucky. If I can pull this through and get sober for real, I can hopefully have many more years spent in a better way.

It's still hard to accept how low I've let myself sunk, but now is not the time to dwell on the past. I think I am slowly starting to accept it.

I'm here still following stuff Kiki.

62/63 days for me. Feeling really great. Watched my son at his rugby match this afternoon. Bought some oysters from the Bay on the way home. Cooked a lovely dinner then watched TopGun on the tele and imagined that I was Kelly Mc Gillis!

Regards to all

Hey, I'm here too :-) I've had a busy day bed shopping with the Mr. We got a tempurpedic (sp?) At a discounted price. We've been talking about this purchase for years. I'll be in sleep haven on weds night! Our current bed is terrible.

I should go back and read all of my early posts. Kiki, it was a great reminder to reread yours. I was in an awful place for a very long time. Today, I'm feeling great. At work tonight and feeling blessed.

Thanks Dallow! I feel so grateful to have gotten off the Merry go round to hell! I seriously never thought I would be able to stay sober for a week let alone almost 2 months.

You are doing great & I am so glad you are posting often again!!! :-)

Morning all,

Not a huge amount to contribute this morning. Too early! But it's day 67...

I will do a fuller post later today. I've been meaning to type my story out as I need reminding. Will also help me on step 1 to realise how powerless I am.
