Today, I will accept where I am and continue pushing forward. If I am in the midst of a learning experience, I will allow myself to continue on with the faith that the day of mastery and reward will come. Help me, God; understand that despite my best efforts to live in peaceful serenity, there are times of mountain climbing. Help me stop creating chaos and crisis, and help me meet the challenges that will move me upward and forward.

This is the simplest recipe ever:
1) Round up any containers of dry oatmeal in your kitchen and give them to a neighbor because putting oatmeal in apple crisp is like adding sawdust to your coffee.
2) Peel and cut up 6 large apples into small bits and put the bits in a baking dish. I usually use a large flat casserole dish. This recipe is particularly nice with sweeter apples like fuji or kiku, but if any actual chefs are reading this yes the tartness of granny smiths balances the sweetness of the sugars a little. Kind of like balancing a buick with a bicycle, given how much sugar is in this. Might as well give in to the sugar.
3) Mix 1/2 cup sugar and 2 tsp cinnamon and sprinkle it over the apples in the dish. Don't worry too much about perfection, it's all going to be a liquidy mess in the bottom anyway.
4) Mix 3/4 cup flour, 1/2 cup sugar, 1/2 cup butter, 1/2 tsp vanilla until it makes little crumbles and spoon it evenly on top of the apples. It's too sticky to do a perfect job of this; big clumps are fine.
5) Bake at 350 for 45 minutes
6) Try not to eat the whole thing in one sitting
Day 15 and it's time for the last Christmas related activity of the year. Heading to my parents' today to exchange the last of the gifts and then the holiday is officially over. Then it's time for that awkward week between Christmas and New Year's when everyone is on vacation at work and you are in your office sitting in silence, haha. In for 24 more!
^ this step wants brown sugar. Too bad I didn't catch that before the editing period expired.
