Hey V, I'm catching up on you guys and glad to see you are a bit better.
Plumbing problems are scary. I came home once to find that one of the bathrooms upstairs had leaked and water was raining in the kitchen. Yikes. A skilled plumber is great to know.
So workweek half done gang!

Yes, I was wondering if Arbor might like to pop over... I remember how successfully he put in the new tap.
This was a small problem that did not get fixed. Now it is a big problem. The tiles have to be pulled up, the floor resealed....far out. And it's half my fault. I asked for a plumber months ago. And it didn't happen. I asked again. I thought last week it would be OK till after Christmas. So of course it got worse during the Christmas everyone-is-away week.

Sounds like more your landlords problem than yours, V. You asked twice. That Should be enough. Now he's gonna have to pay big bucks for a bigger problem when it could have been resolved early on.
I'm handy, but when it comes to removing tile and sweating pipes I'm out. Plumbing can be a scary thing if you don't know what your doing. Reminds me of a time I was drunk trying to replace the hardware in the bathtub. Yeah, didn't turn out so well. Remember, I'm an arborist.
Edit: Tap is still running nicely though! A fine job. That I can handle. Sober.

This is very much the landlord's responsibility.

This is not you being a bother...this is making sure you have a liveable dwelling to live in.
It's also helping the landlord in that these repairs need to be made ASAP before the problem gets worse and affects the structural integrity.

Yes, you are right of course, but it is too late now. The structural damage is done.
I need to be able to live here while they fix it, which is why I am so upset with myself. I should have pushed harder. I have to stand up for myself when people dismiss me....

Yeah V, that's the problem with being a responsible person - you are inclined to compensate for others who are not so much. If your landlord ends up paying extra because he (she, them, whatever it is) ignored an important responsibility, then sounds like he sucks at being a landlord, which is not your fault. I do understand that now you have to live with repairs going on in your home, which is unsettling, but please don't take this on as your fault. You did your part. Maybe you're thinking you should have warned him that it was getting worse, but that is the natural progression of plumbing issues. If he doesn't understand that, then, again, maybe managing a building isn't his calling...also not your fault.
Sorry to be a pain ~ last post about this, I promise.
My only concern is that the owner would decide not to renew the lease and pull the place apart. But that's me...my head always goes to the worst-case scenario.

Sorry this is happening to you Venus. My building is in quite a state of disrepair. My landlord was in his mid eighties and let many things go. He died this spring and his granddaughter took over. Things are finally starting to get done around here. Get that Lease turned in stat!
