Hi, Snooz!!!!

How long will you be in rehab? Is it the same facility as last time?

Yeah snooz I saw that, great!

It just seems here's a lot of time between now and the 22nd... Is there a place that can help in the meantime?

Holly bought and put up a beautiful Xmas tree last night xx
What kind of program is it, Wendy? Long term? How do you feel about it? I hope you are doing ok, but I'm guessing things are hard right now.

Crois I don't know how I feel about it to be honest. It's more of a drying out facility . Just 5 to 7 days

I don't really call that a rehab , but I don't know what else to do, I've rung the woodshed , it's a 9 month waiting list . I just don't know , I really don't

You know you need more than a drying out facility Snooz - it's a good start but without anything else in place, how are things going to change?

I've tried daily phone calls , I've tried AA , I've tried drying out , I've tried rehab dry outs , I've tried everything I know how . I just think im a lost cause at this point , I just CANT get it together.

I'm not being a martyr I just don't think anything is going to help me anymore

Maybe start with the very basics of a plan Snooz...these are two very good links for that.

https://store.samhsa.gov/shin/conten...0/SMA-3720.pdf
https://store.samhsa.gov/shin/conten...SMA12-4474.pdf

I don;t think you're beyond help at all...but I'm worried you may be letting yourself be convinced you are.

You've stopped drinking before. There's no reason why you can;t stop again - except for the fact you're going to have to make some pretty big changes and live with some things you've been drinking to get away from.

I also think that just because you've tried something before- be it rehab detox, AA or whatever - doesn't necessarily mean you'll get the same results if you tried those things again.

Like I said detox can be a start but it's not a recovery plan or programme.

In the end, no matter what method you go with , you have to take drinking off the table as a viable option.

it's not going to be easy or fun, but I believe it's possible

I think this isn't you, .snooz, it's your AV talking.

You do know what a plan is. This is just the craziness the AV is dragging you into. Please, please even if you ring somewhere you can't get into, you need to plead with them to refer you, or ring your doctor tomorrow.

And then you need to follow through, you are playing with fire here.

Wendy, I'm not quite sure what you are getting at. A plan for not just getting sober, but staying sober, no matter what. Those links Dee has given you - tools to help you cope with life - all the reasons why you want to stay sober, all the places and things you promise you won't visit or do in order to stay sober....form part of your plan.

It can be as simple as "today I won't drink" and go from there....it changes it evolves...but you can't start a journey without at least an idea of where you want to go.

You've been in rehab before, you've been on this site over 2 years...these are not new concepts. There is no magical moment, it's bloody hard work. So roll your sleeves up. Research, ring the rehab place, do whatever it takes. YOU have to do this, but there is no quick fix. No one else can do it for you.

A plan to stay sober Snooz things youl do to stay sober

Start with acceptance you know full well you can't drink safely or responsibly so on them grounds take alcohol off the menu get through the cravings start going meetings every day smart is in Australia work a programme apply for therapy whether it's counselling group therapy or both you have to try harder than ever before

Read get into recovery reading try anything recovery related because right now as
much as I love you Snooz I'm scared for you

How can anything in your life get better if you don't stop drinking for good

I remember when everything felt like too much effort, but I know you're a hard worker Wendy.

You've helped so many others...be tireless in helping yourself

The links I have you are probably the best I've ever seen about making a recovery plan based on your own personal needs,

I found them very easy to read - but take them section by section if you need too..
I really hope you'll revisit them.

Apologies to all the non -Aussies but...give yourself a boot up the bum Snooz - you're worth it
