Hey team!

I was away for five days and I did exactly what I said I shouldn't do. I was offered beer at dinner on friday and I drank two.

It was just two 33 cl of 4,3 % beer and I certainly didn't get buzzed. But still. I need to be more proactive about this and give people a heads-up that I'm not drinking before someone already has bought me beer. I didn't want to turn it down to be inpolite.

To be honest, I don't feel this was a "real" slip, since two small beers to dinner is not exactly how I define "drinking". But I know this could have turned into a binge, so I have to be careful in the future.

I am not going to start counting from day 1 again, as that will only pull me down and excuse further relapsing. So I'm just not gonna focus so rigidly on which day I am.

However, I had no wish to continue drinking, no hangover, and actually not much regret (maybe I should have, it's risky business). Same night after drinking I read this thread and you helped me staying strong rest of the weekend. Thanks guys

I'm glad you're back, Dallow I wouldn't worry about being impolite - sobriety is number 1; don't let anything get in the way of that! I have found it easier to tell people beforehand that I'm not drinking so I don't find myself in that situation. It is very hard for me to turn down free alcohol!

You've got this!!

Hi Dallow-
Sorry about the slip. It's an uncomfortable situation, but try just saying thank you so much, but I'm not drinking right now. I appreciate the thought!
I'm glad you didn't let it turn into a binge. Good job!

SwimKim and KIR, you are right. I should not think about it as being impolite, but put my sobriety first

This slip just confirmes what I already knew. I only drink to get drunk. I don't care for two small beers at all, it seems completly useless to me and I might as well do without them.

Hi Daria! I'm so glad to hear from you....I was worried. Don't beat yourself up for your slip. The AV thrives on shame & guilt! All we really have is today! Keep your head up...you are trying!

I hope you stay in November with us! We care! :-)

I can understand all of you who are upset with your SO's. Recently, I am mad at everybody. Seems like somehow I am projecting my self-hatred to everyone who cross my path...or see on TV...or read about. I have this rage, like "if the world was different I wouldn't feel the need to be drunk all the time".

Yeah...very mature of me, I know. I am very aware that the problem lies within me, but sometimes it seems I can't be reasonable about sobriety. I am just mad that I even find myself in this situation to begin with. So frustrated I either get really mad or start crying. Such I wreck I can be some days...

Need to get back to exercise daily, really helped handling this frustration. Maybe I should start boxing

Love this thread, since we all are going through similar things, chances are we will heal with time. Take care, all!

Exercising will probably really help you! It's helping me, and I'm getting stronger everyday just in case I need to punch something! It's a win-win. Haha
