Day 1 for me AGAIN, but this time Im gonna really try and stick to it.
Its like a constant reminder everyday that I hate myself drunk.
Hopefully this forum will help. SoberRecovery has been such a huge staple in my sobriety.

We can do this everyone!

Thanks applekat. Hummm, I do understand how difficult young ones can be. I currently have all my four gkids living with me. So, yes, anytime you can spare for yourself is precious.

Next week is my dogs first acl surgery. Praying things will go smoothly. Ive been thru the mill lately with all kinds of stuff going on in my life. I need to handle things, life sober, no matter what comes my way. Im still learning.

I am in too. Day 1 here. I have had a few stretches of sobriety that last right around 2 months before I veer off course. Looking to make this one stick!

maximus97 - I was in last year's November class, I made it to the end of January. It is sort of depressing to think that I would be over a year sober had I stuck with it, but it is what it is. All I can do now is move forward. I don't know about you, but I actually found it easier to stay sober through the holidays, there was so much going on, it was after everything died down that I messed up.

Yeah, I think back to all the classes Ive been in, and all the sober time I could have racked up, and its depressing. But, thats the past, and right now, Im working on today. Holidays arent my trigger, its just everyday life for me, unfortunately. Lets do this guys!

Yes, I feel the same way as many others do as well. But as mentioned, let's get past that, it's history and let's look ahead.

As usual, a lot of positive reinforcement already. Let's make it happen!

I'm good for any where in the 50 to 80 days and then I get blind-sided too SD. However, this year I've only managed to put 10's and 20's together about 4 or 5 times this year. Maybe because I turned 45 and that kind of rubbed me the wrong way, along with a 100 other excuses..........

My 22 year son just made my day .
Right out of the blue he said " your a good dad ,dad " .

I asked him what made him say that and he just said "because you are "

That is good enough for me .

Lovely

Thanks neverthought. Good to see you too.

Thomas, thats very sweet of your son. Im sure you are a very good father.

So, this day is dragging along. Im in limbo, I cant wait to accumulate some sober days again. Ive been blowing off appointments lately, cause I was too busy getting drunk, or recovering from a hangover. Its just no way to live. I want a sober life, badly. I have to remind myself of how low Im feeling today, when I want that next drink. Just wanting this day to be done with. How I hate day ones.

From the physical aspect, day (1) can be rough. I feel pretty good today as I have been weaning myself in preparation. I didn't feel that great this morning though.

From the mental aspect, whether it's day (10) or day (1), let's treat them the same, as they are both days without drinking .

Yes, I agree neverthought. Everyday sober is a good one. Yes, Im experiencing a bit of withdraw today, physical. Its scary, but I think Im going to be ok. Not even tempted to pick up,that usually comes on day three, or later. Not giving in this time though. No way AV!

Called out sick to work today because I couldnt stop crying. Really tempted to drink right now. I wish I could stop crying and hurting so much.

I just ran a mile and am feeling the cravings wear off but this overwhleming pain in my chest is just crushing me.

How do you guys get sober and stay sober? It seems impossible to me and I feel that I am alone.

Damn eating disorder doesnt help.. or my smoking.

I'm sorry you are feeling so sad newhope. I haven't stayed sober in quite some time now. I keep failing, I restart, I fail again. I know the feeling of frustration all too well. Just keep reaching out, posting, and deny the urge to drink. Its hard, I agree, but we have to keep fighting. I think the run was an excellent idea. We are all in this together.
