I'm in! Drank last night but put a cork in the bottle at 6pm and went straight to bed. Feel better than usual after a night of drinking because somehow deep inside, something screamed loud enough to stop.

I really want to be sober again.. its so hard around this time especially when you're new to sobriety.

I've lost a few friends these past few months and I don't want to alienate anyone else.

Folks keep pushing to host my annual holiday party but I just cant right now.. too much temptation.

Hello all you December people , I,ve got a couple of weeks sober and want to jump into December feeling positive , I also want to focus away from me a little and show some extra compassion and kindness to those who are less fortunate than myself during Christmas .

I'm in! Day 1 for me...

I had a little bit of wine last night and it started to give me a headache. I used to never get headaches (from a little bit of wine) but it seems like the more sober days I have under my belt, the worse I feel when I actually drink. I'm joining the December group because I'd rather stay sober (consistently!) and I think I can do it now.

Enjoying a warm cup of coffee with toffee almond flavored creamer. Trying to treat myself this morning.

Trying not to dwell on my woes and move forward.

I had a friend tell the entire table I was sitting at that I am alcoholic while I was even present. I felt betrayed, that this person couldnt pull me aside and say something to me.

I know I'm the drunk and screw up, but I dont know if I can forgive this person. But, I am going to try and not hold on to resentments, all they do is make you feel awful while the other person isnt even aware you are upset.

Just wanted to say welcome and send best wishes to you all

I joined the December 2012 class and have been sober ever since. I thought it would be extra difficult being so close to Christmas and New Year but I got through and so can you. Just take it a day at a time, even an hour or minute at a time. Always have an escape route, whether at a function, party, or at your house with guests round. Never be afraid to say no to invites. Put yourself and your sobriety first.

You can do this and when everyone else is quitting in January you will feel amazing having a month under your belt already You will always tell yourself if you could get through the holiday season sober you can get through anything sober.

Trying to stay hydrated right now by drinking a ton of water. After work I plan on using my new elliptical machine when I get home.

Already completed most of my Xmas wrapping but still have a few more present left, so I may finish those up after my workout.

Not sure what I plan to cook for dinner but I plan on forcing myself to eat tonight. My eating disorder has been getting the best of me lately and so I have only been consuming calories from alcohol; But, not tonight.

I would like to join. New to this site but have had numerous day 1's and truly hopping this is my last! I need help and support...40 now and life has to be better than this! I don't remember most nights and that is terrifying, yet I drink again the very next night (just to forget again). Starting a fitness routine to try and change things up and get healthy! It's been since I was 15 that I had to deal with life alcohol free

Welcome class of December 2015!

You've chosen an awesome time to get clean and sober! I'm a member of the December 2014 class and I credit my class for helping me get and stay sober! The love, support, and encouragement you give each other is crucial and could literally save someone's life. I feel like my classmates helped save my life, for sure!

Don't give credence to the naysayers who say 'you can't quit right before the holidays! What about Christmas? What about New Years?' I'm here to tell you that is a bunch of malarkey! You can quit any time you make up your mind to quit....regardless of the season! Make this your time. I've NEVER regretted quitting last December. I've never regretted waking up without a hangover. I've never regretted starting 2015 sober!

I wish you all the very best in this amazing journey!

That's true Brynn, whoever said they regretted not drinking the next day? You usually here about shame and remorse the next day after a night of drinking.

Wheeeee! Hey everyone!

From an overly hyper 25-dayer, it is doable!!! Five days and I can say I'm 30 days sober! It's felt like a lifetime dragging towards that mark but I am so close I can feel it, and the love, too!

The weather is dreary and I'm doubting I'll ever get past those horrid mood swings, but I've been taking my vitamins and working my butt off and I had the pleasure of noticing at this point that my hair is getting longer and healthier! I'm also keeping up on the yoga... It's so important for me to take those minutes to breathe.

PSA: The side effects from being healthy are GREAT!

Oh, and not life threatening.

For all of those on day one, CONGRATULATIONS! Taking that first step is terrifying and if you go through the detox that so many of us have, mine and I'm sure lots of other hearts go out to you. The bright side is that after the first week or so, many of those symptoms subside and your body starts to feel so much better!

On a side note, I had some kidney pain (sharp pains, but rapidly dissipating) a few weeks ago and those have completely subsided. Lots of lemon water to help those babies clean house.

I also had another drinking dream last night - this time it was wine. My coworker was there and I had consumed a whole bottle of wine and couldn't find my cigarettes - once again, I awoke and reminded myself why I'm sober these days!

Finals are in a week and then I will have much more time to check in, oh and breathe. Happy Tuesday, everyone!

Some people are so insensitive and its understandable that you felt hurt . Your right about not wanting to carry a resentment . From a different point of view at least the cards are on the table so to speak ,I wish I had been more open about the extent of my drinking .
Hold your head high and you will be the one to shine through .

I know its difficult dealing with a person who has let you down but I have learned over the years ( I could spend months thinking of one person and how many different ways I wanted to "get back at them ") through a lot of spiritual reading to forgive early and release any ill feeling towards the person even going as far as praying for their well being and happiness . The universe will respond in kind .

!
Once a day

To a mug of boiling water I finely grate a bit of ginger squeeze half a lemon and squirt in 3 or 4 tea spoons of manuka honey . This has worked wonders for some weird aches and pains in my abdo .

I'm in! On day 2 here. I've had a few stints of sobriety but always end up drinking again to a seriously unhealthy level. But something seems to have clicked this time - I'm so worried about my health. I need to completely remove alcohol from my life. I have a wonderful family and I want to be around as long as possible. Here's to a sober December everyone, we can do this together!

Hi guys! I'm from the November 2015 thread & it's nearing the end of day 16 for me. I just want to let you know that's it's not easy but things are already much better only 16 days in.

I had a big craving this afternoon but didn't have one all day yesterday. I got through the craving today. The cravings are getting less frequent & shorter in length. My sleep is already improving, my anxiety is much better, depression gone, food tasting better, been exercising, still tired but energy increasing!

Anyway, my point is it DOES get better if you just don't drink no matter what! I have a long long way to go but I'm never giving up! You guys will make it!!!

Never give up!
