Sunday evening here and I've made it through the weekend and day 4. No more shaky hands or heart palpitations, and even managed to get in two solid workout this weekend. Did a lot of reading on the forum here and have learned quite a bit from you all. I haven't left the house in 4 days, and that surely helped also. Feel great physically, just a little grumpy and irritable and still lacking sleep. I will sleep now and hope for a better night tonight.

Hope everyone is having a nice weekend and working to stay sober.

Hi bblack! Yes that was me! I had a precious little summer baby after a high risk pregnancy and a month in the hospital away from hubby and my other two kiddos. Had baby girl 5 weeks early, a little peanut. All is well, now. Three kids is a piece of cake! . Haha. Great work by you, keep it up!!!!

Congrats on your baby applekat!
And whether you are on day one or Day 5 or 6 let's make this a sober Sunday. It's so easy to say that in the morning, of course. But when/if those cravings come later we have to commit to posting here or even just reading. I know for me, many times, just logging in and reading a few posts changes my mindset during those times I'm starting to entertain the thought of a drink. Sometimes , of course , we need more and we must reach out and post, go for a walk, get something to eat, clean a bathroom (lol, works for me sometimes ). It WILL pass, it always does does and once we are on the other side of it, it feels like such a relief. Until the next one anyway!

I have lots of things to do to get ready for the week. My sister in law is coming for a visit this weekend and I know she is going to want to drink with me. She probably drinks even more than me, but doesn't think it's a problem and thinks I'm overeacting when I say it's s problem for me.
Ugh. I just have to worry about today for now. The more sober time I have when she gets here, the stronger I'll be.
Sober Sundays are the best, and even better waking up on Monday after one! I'm gonna keep
Reminding myself of that

So I got home late and went right to bed after the football game last night. Ever notice when you stop drinking that the people around who you thought drank a lot or all the time actually don't? Like I was eating my pizza, watching the game and drinking water when I realized most of the people around me were also drinking water or tea. Funny bc I always thought I had to drink to fit in.

Applekat - Aww, congrats on the brand new baby! I'm pretty sure we were in a class together when you found out you were pregnant. How old are your other two? I have 3 children as well - mine are 9, 7, and 5.

FABL - So happy to see you and glad that we are here in December together, both trying again. I know people here say you have to be willing to do anything to get sober, but clean a bathroom?! I dunno, I may have to draw the line at that one, lol.

Things are going pretty good here. I'm so behind on Christmas, we have been doing some big renovations to our house so only now can we get started even decorating, but things are so dusty still, plus my husband is out of town, that I will wait until next weekend to start. The state of my house is stressing me out a little, along with a few other minor things, but at Day 5 everything feels manageable, whereas if I were drinking I'd probably be on the verge of a panic attack. I'm sure alcohol has always increased my anxiety, but I'd say that in the last year it had gotten really really bad. There are a million reasons to quit and stay quit, but the out of control anxiety is right there at the top of my list.

Im back to day 1 today, thought it better to be honest. Dont think I had prepared myself fully for the cravings. Had a chat with my mrs and we had a good brainstorm on what to do if cravings hit. Im going to make this my very final day one. On to new and better things.....i sat so miserable drinking last night, its actually quite comical, I totally ruined my own night for no reason and by choice, I knew if I drank id be in a bad mood because I drank but I did it anyway.

Day 5 here.

Not much to report. These violent mood swings are draining. More than likely staying in bed all day.

Hope everyone is doing as well as can be expected.

You are welcome CNGY. It's funny you mention/noticed that you were on top of list. After I compiled it, I thought, oh look, CNGY is at the top of list. I think he's going to appreciate that. I especially enjoyed and envisioned the hairflip....nice touch.

I've come a long way on SR. When I first joined I banged out over (2) months and was feeling pretty entitled and somewhat arrogant about sobriety. Then of course, I crashed and burned. I disappeared for about 10 months. Every year since I've come back and managed 2 to 3 months of sobriety in row. Every relapse, albeit only a few months of sobriety, has humbled me. I'm still very defensive and over justify my problem, but I'm trying to put the gloves down.

I'll admit, it's very difficult and challenging (and eventually life threatening) for me to quit, though I truly want to. Alcohol is everywhere, it's in my past, it's brought on by peer pressure both now and then, it's in my family, it's always discussed in my work environment. Sometimes I'm torn by loyalty, sometimes it's stress, sometimes it's the force of habit and of course, it's part of my addiction.

I guess my point is, which came to light by SleepyDots and CNGY thanking me for compiling this list (which many classes do), is that the more I accept my problem and immerse myself in SR the more real I feel about myself. Sure, I disappear from time to time, but it's because I get defensive and I try to justify why I drink and then feel that I'll never be able to quit, and I just give up.

The bottom line is that I want to do more on SR for everyone struggle with alcoholism, just like I am. I'm still developing my sobriety tools or as Dee says, my sober muscles. The more I accept and give back the further I progress. It's real!

Thanks for listening! I'm working out day (5) as we speak.

Great job coming right back Highwind. (1) day isn't going to kill you, but you know the deal. It's why you are here.

Day 5. Watching my Vikings in bed. No hangover. Crazy in itself on a Sunday morning. Might have a Monster to wake me up rather than coffee . Hope everyone has a fab Sunday!

Hey all, checking in today. Im past the physical, its all a mental game from here on. For me, the mental is almost as hard, or worse, then the physical aspect. Its all hard.

I made sausage and biscuits for breakfast, and now Im cooking up a big pan of lasagna. Not good for the waistline, but Im feeding four kids and four adults, so its a good idea. We dont waste anything around my house. We cant afford to.

It was nice to wake up sober, and face today. This week is huge for me, the gkids start new schools, and they are apprehensive about it. At least they have bus service for them all. Thank you God! This move has been hard for them, so Im hoping things keep moving in the right direction, and go smoothly for them. Then I have doc and dentist appointments, my dogs surgery this Wednesday. The hard part with the dogs is going to be keeping them separated, cause one is a puppy, the older one will not be able to run, jump, or anything else for 8 weeks...So, the hard stuff is just beginning. We have crates, but with the limited space we now have, its going to be a trial for sure. I know its doable though, it has to happen.

I have found transportation to my appointments this week, and Im very grateful for that. God always provides a way, an answer. Im nervous about everything now, still having anxiety, but I do believe it will all work out.

Applekat, congrats on ur new baby! Im so glad all is fine. I often wondered how you made out with that. Babies are the best.

Cute, good on you. Lets keep this going, we can do this.
Highwind, keep at it. It will happen.
To all of our class, lets keep doing this. Its hard, but I do believe its possible, for all of us.

I have to get back to my lasagna now, but I will catch up later on all the posts. Im happy and glad to be a part of December. Thanks all.

Welcome, jungleduck!

Lasagna does sound really good.

I've spent the day so far in bed and eating everything in sight. I'm angry I can't drink. Angry at certain people in my life and deeply depressed in general. Today I guess I'm trying to fill the void with food instead of booze and that pisses me off too. I just can't have that. Today is just rough.

Hello,

I made it thru the babyshower last night with no alcohol. At first there was craving and pressure but i was able to manage by drinking water and soda.

It's funny that people think that im hungover from the night before that's why im not drinking. It's odd to them to see me sober. What Im starting to see now is that i could enjoy these social events without drinking. At first i thought that i would have to isolate from my friends and family in order not to drink but now im more accepting of my drinking problem and enjoy sobriety.

It also amazes me to see others drunk and reflect on what i used to be.

Thank you all for your support and to the ones that slipped up, hang in there and start again. I had many slips before i started to get it right, just see it as temporary defeat and pick yourself back up.

Have a happy Sunday.

Welcome jungleduck

I was very angry when I quit Camryn - I think it's pretty common. The anger dissipated after a few weeks - I hope you'll find that too
