Class of October 2014 Part 23
Those are LEDs btw. A close up shot of my tree. And I just realized my sons will never have the memory and experience of those wonderful old glass bulbs we all grew up with. Maybe that's a blessing though. They were kinda rough to deal with in comparison. Good night! 8)
Yes, but your sons will have Christmas after Christmas filled with love and joy because they have a sober dad who is making their lives wonderful...along with your wife of course.
Last goodnight...go to bed, all of you!

Hello and goodnight gang! Late check in, as I wind down in bed.
We decorated our tree tonight. It's pretty. We have new LED lights, too, Arbor, colors. They look different to me, and I need to get used to them. But I think we got a nice tree and the kids had fun decorating it.
I need to do some baking. Will sort out the mixer issues tomorrow. Maybe pull out the old one and hope it works through the season. I don't want to fry the motor, if a service or repair will preserve it. So, I'm behind on baking. I like to give cookies to friends and neighbor's. Going to call costumer service before messing with it. I did hand wash it well before using it.
Glad you had the talk with your wife Mark. I wish my husband would air his issues. If he has any, he stuffs them, but pulls them out defensively if I have an issue to discuss. Not great for resolving issues. I think a healthy hiking trip is a great celebration of sobriety.
Hi V. How are you?
Impressed with your baking, Leigh!
Hello Briar, BD and Dee.
Still feeling so happy for Conquest!

I think all the homemade treats you ladies prepare as gifts are great. I got a hand written note from a beloved and aging aunt a couple of weeks ago. There's something personal and special about it. To my mind the treats y'all prepare fall in that category as well.
I didn't know they made LED lights like the 'old timey' ones from my youth. And I like that avatar even more now that I know it's your actual tree Arbor. Nice shot. Yes, your boys are fortunate lads indeed. I may try to come up with a Christmas avatar myself if I can get the patience to try pics again.
Today is to be sunny and 71, but it feels a bit gloomy because today is the day we must tell little one that her neighborhood best friend is moving. They are together almost daily for their laugh and giggle sessions. As the fates would have it, two years ago her then best neighborhood friend moved, then last year her best friend from school moved. This will be a big deal to her.....daddies don't like it when they can't fix the hurt. Part of growing up I guess.
So today is haircut, arrange for lunch for my office gang, an errand at my oldest daughter's school, find out how to update my expired passport. Another day in suburbia. But first is GYM!

Gets better and better this time around. No slips, mishaps, or really much thought about an option to pick up. Sure some days are better than others, but the root of my heart lies an enormous amount of hope and joy that the best years are yet to come.
Thanks again for being there Venus, Mark, Leigh, Phoebe, Dee, Briar, Conquest, and Brighterdayz. My peeps! Very glad to be part of this community tonight.

WTG Arbor. How's that new ride? Did the kids christen it yet, LOL?
I will be hosting Christmas Eve. Appetizers, presents and dessert this year. I was looking for appetizer recipes online and stumbled upon one called "Texas Trash." Seriously, it's a thing-a bean and cheese dip. Sounds quite delicious. A niece did request gluten fee Shrimp Bisque, so I will be making that for her. Between GF, vegetarians and omnivores, it'll be much easier to please everyone this way. Another tempting recipe was baby potatoes cut in half, wrapped in bacon and baked until crispy. Those go with a sour cream and dill dip. May do a grilled flank steak, thinly sliced, threaded on skewers. If you have any great recipes or suggestions, I am all ears. My sister is bringing a chocolate fountain, which should be fun with fruit, pretzels, etc.

Seems as though today's milestone gave you a comfortable reinforcement that you're indeed on the right path for you as an individual. I love that. There's a peace about it that we are learning to draw from on those not-so-easy days that pop up now and then.
That was a nice post Arbor. It shall guide my thoughts this evening.

Wow BD, that all sounds great! But I'll say that I've never heard of a thing-a-bean, but if it goes with cheese dip it must be good. I'd probably get in trouble by making a mess with the chocolate fountain. Is it considered 'in poor taste' to bend over and sip from it like a water fountain?
I am reminded of a time we were at a big New Year's Eve party, with parents and kids. Hosts some stuck his tongue in the chocolate fountain! She was livid! I found it hysterical!
Congratulations Arbor!!! Very happy that you are so happy in your sobriety! Truly.
BD, the menu sounds great! I am a big fan of cheese, tomatoes, and basil leaves on skewers( I make a pesto dip to go with it), or grapes and prosciutto and cheese on them, etc... They are all over Pinterest. Not really recipes, just ideas of combinations. I have been making Chinese dumplings for a few years, to bring to a big party we attend. They are labor intensive, though. I can share if you have an interest. PM if you would like the recipe. It takes some practice too. Maybe not something to try for a party where you have to do so many other things.
