Heading in to day 4 and finally got a good nights sleep thankfully. I got through my first evening of wine time by cooking dinner as soon as I got home and sitting down to eat. (Typically I would pour myself a glass of wine as soon as I got home and sit down in my chair). Work days are probably the hardest for me so on to day 4. I won't drink today! Hope everyone has a great sober day!

Day 9, 2nd good night sleep in a row! Road trip to the mountains today,
so I'm glad my head is clear and I won't have to drink 20 cups of coffee
to offset the fuzziness. 2 should do it today!

Good sober day to the Yanks and sober night to the Limies!

SoberMarathon - you must be in SoCal if you are going for a run this AM-
it's 31 her right now!

Day 17- holy cow- day 17.
I am so, so glad that I decided to stop drinking 17 days ago. I have not had a hangover in 16 days! That is awesome.

I look around and see all the damage alcohol is doing, has done, and will do to others that I love who have this illness too.
But I am happy as hell that I crawled myself out of the hole.

Have a baby shower in a few hours so I have to get ready for that. Thankful it is the morning so there will be no drinks served and these specific group of friends don't drink in general anyway, so I should probably hang out with them more often.

I hope everyone has a good day. Keep fighting

Good morning all! I woke up feeling worse than yesterday, I think I'm coming down with the flu or some sort of bug. Oh well, this too shall pass. Goldensands, thanks for the tips. After a series of unfortunate events, we did miss out on socialization in the most important stages. I'll look into training classes.

I too hope everyone finds our new classroom! Happy Tuesday all.

Finally back home and internet is back up!!! Today makes 11 days, it's humbling after having 14 months to realize sometimes that it feels like I threw all that time away, but I guess it sometimes takes a relapse to put things in perspective, not that I HAD to relapse, but now I see how letting my guard down and becoming lazy with my program will lead to. So, in hind-site, I'm grateful for the relapse and even more grateful that I made it back. I've been struggling with getting enough sleep as well and so I feel for those of you having that problem. My job calls for me to be up at 4:30am and with 4 kids I rarely get to sleep before 10-11pm!

I'm glad I joined this group and look forward to getting to know more of you better as we continue on our journeys!

Golden, it is a sad disease and it's taken the life of my Dad, grandfather and is trying to kill every male on my fathers side of the family! I'm glad we found hope and a way to heal!

Odelle, I hope you feel better, we just recently got over the flu and it was rough.

KiKi, thanks for all you do, I really appreciate your upbeat attitude and your help keeping our group together!

Blessings to you all and have a great day!!!

Good morning everyone!

Today is the start of a new chapter in my life. I have officially submitted my application to graduate school and now I just have to wait a few months to see if I got into their program. I have been in the "filling out and turning in the application" stage since 2011 if you can believe it. I had a series of tragic events derail me for the last few years and I decided that this year would be finally the right time to do this. I am now fortunate to remain sober for the remainder of this new chapter in my life. I am finally free of having to worry about deadlines for a while. I'm going to spend this month enjoying the holidays and living my life to the fullest. I plan to do more writing in my free time, more painting and definitely more posting on here. I hope everyone can continue to support each other.
Thanks for reading and I value everyone's continued thanks and support. Have a wonderful beautiful day everyone!

Good morning Class!

I am so thankful for all of you. With all your help I have come to a conclusion about the work Xmas party on Saturday. I am skipping it this year. My AV has been trying to trick me. For lots of years I have not really wanted to attend the party (like 8 or 9 years)and only did out of obligation. Last year was a complete write off, I was home puking by 10pm. The year before there wasn't a party, but three yeas ago I did a face plant in some bar after the party, fell off the speaker I was dancing on and ended up all banged up. I barely remember all that. Good times.

So why in God's name am I struggling so much about this year? I 'should' feel the same way I have the last 8 or 9 years...mostly the same people, same place, same activities etc. I should be dreading it and whining about not wanting to go like I usually am.

I had a rough time for awhile after work yesterday. My AV was being the voice of reason (insert eye roll)....telling me to just screw up right now and then this complicated decision about the party is made and you cant start over on Monday.

So. I am taking the party out of the equation. I am not going.

Good morning, All! Lots of good vibes this morning one week today- woo hoo!! Slept really well last night for the first time - was out like a light and I don't think I moved all night! Our weather has finally gotten cold here and I really enjoy snuggling under the covers and reading before I go to bed. Something I could not do if I was drinking!

Sending good thoughts to you all. Have a great sober day!

Pams, I think that is a great decision it shows you are dedicated to your sobriety and it inspires me. The AV can talk all it wants, but you know where alcohol will really lead you. Well done

Good morning all! Checking in on Day 38. Feeling okay. I've been so tired lately! Luckily, I broke my habit of drinking after work. It's no longer a struggle to get through the day without alcohol. Now I need to tackle my depression.

Trying to do it the natural way with vitamins and herbal supplements and exercise, but I'll need to actually make an appointment to be medicated if this doesn't work. Keeping my fingers crossed!

Patricia, if you don't mind me asking, what type of 5htp are you taking?

SM, for some reason, I always assume everyone in here is a woman! No idea why. It's hard to tell by usernames.

Silentcinema, congrats on getting your application turned in!

Kiki, thanks for keeping us updated on everyone's days!

Stay strong everybody!

learntofly, I am on the same road, trying to beat depression in the same way. I have been hesitating to get some prescription because I don't want to get hooked on something else, but I don't know.

I started off exercising every day, but that didn't last so long. Have to force myself to go now. Most days I just feel low, like everything I do is pointless.

Maybe it's just what we have to go through to find a better tomorrow. At this point I find it so hard to seperate my "real feelings" to those that comes with recovery.

All I know is I prefer to feel this low, than go back to that desperate drunk I was! No drinks!!!

Pams, excellent choice regarding the christmas party!!! Sounds like a wise way to get to those 20 days you've been waiting for, and onwards after that!

I know how many times I have made plans not to drink, but then something - a person, a comment, a situation - made me reconsider and decide to "eff it". Just took a split second - and "someone triggered me to drink". I found I never really took responsibility for my own drinking - the surroundings made me What a fool I was!

Seems like you really are determined and that you are taking responsibilit for your situation! Great to hear!
