Welcome GnikNus! Congratulations on reaching one year. It keeps getting better and better so stick with us.

So I was talking on the phone last night with my friend, she in Vancouver, I in Northern B.C., when suddenly we got the CRAZIEST sounding interference I have ever heard. I've never heard anything like it. It sounded like alien talking and heavy breathing, I swear. It really freaked us out, my friend actually started crying and was really scared. Any clues as to what that was? Itchy I'm sure you have some theories or knowledge on this. I like to think I'm a logical person but I was really quite shaken by it and had trouble going to bed! Silly I know. But what was it? It sounded like, a man's voice all garbled up, weird metallic clicking type sounds, static, and yes, HEAVY BREATHING. Not cool when you live in the middle of nowhere alone in a little trailer hahaha. Hello, aliens!!!

And then of course I started googling "strange sky sounds" and watching Youtube videos. Not recommended if you feel like sleeping anytime soon. .... Actually I ended up sleeping pretty good last night.

My landlord is in the process of fixing up my trailer for me. I got a new, bigger propane tank which I will never have to change or think about, to replace the little ones which I had to manually change. He's running new lines for the washer but they leak. And he tried putting in a new kitchen tap but got the wrong size of course. And he put a vent in the living room because we figured out that the furnace was creating negative pressure causing the smoke to be sucked out, so that's mostly fixed I think but the stove still isn't airtight so it leaks a little. This is all done with the friendliest of attitudes, last night they fed me dinner because he had my kitchen torn apart.

Anyhoozies. -8 out at the moment. I think we get snow mixed with rain today. Yuck.

Have a good Tuesday, Overs.

Mags please send me one of your Christmas lounge suits. I need it.

Haha, my actions were alkie even then.

This post has no message... beyond moving-prep-avoidance, as I sip my coconut milk latte - or, CML to the W-30's among us.

Having a farewell dinner with friends at a great local Italian restaurant for pasta night that is owned by one of my friends. It was a popular hang of mine to get blasted after golf in those active days. Only been there for dinner three times in the past 30 months. While I don't really trigger at this type of thing, I do try to keep my exposure to them at a minimum.

Have a goot one - Ovs'.

This ex-Ham Radio Dude did my last couple of Corp Years in the Wild & Wacky World of Cellular Telephony.

I very occasionally get the interference you describe. I chalk it up to marginal [weak] Signal 'Cross Talk' on whatever Cellular Tower you're on. There's 'x' number of Cellular Channels on a Tower, depending on Cellular Traffic. Towers are continuously switching stationary Users between these Channels, and as other Users drive by. When Interference as you describe hits, I hang up and call again in order to get kicked over to another Cell Tower Channel. Items like Microwave Ovens can cause Cell Signal perturbations.

I have 3 Trailers. They're big, electrically-grounded Cans. Tough on Cell Signal integrity. Calling when by a Window often helps.

IMO, no AVs to worry about. Alien Visitors, that is...

IP,
I'm with Mesa man. Had that happen several times before. It sounds a lot like a SSB discussion on a non SSB radio.
If there is a ham radio operator anywhere near you, you may be getting bleed over.

The other option is that you are being monitored by the RCMP in advance of an armed round up of suspected ne'er do wells. I am of course fabricating and dissembling.

Good luck with the mods the landlord is finally getting done. Were I him though, I'd have fixed them when the weather was nice. Please get a CO alarm, humor me. I know they cost more than just a smoke alarm. You want one with an LCD screen and a memory so you can see the readings when it did not alarm. That is more frightening to me than cell cross talk.

Hey Carlos!
Very good to know I am not the only lazy procrastinator in the group who knows it and is OK with it. I don't see you getting tempted for some reason. You've been quite a bit more serious this time around, with an abundance of sobriety and AA work. I am proud for ya!

Hey FG!

RZ,
I walked to school in the snow too, but barefooted and uphill - both ways!

On a more serious note - Am

I remember the blizzard of Feb 1969 like it was yesterday. I lost control of a 64 Chevy with the long cigar box body and went up a snow plow bank about ten feet high. I couldn't back off because the rear bumper was on the iced road, and my front bumper was on the top of the plowed snow pile at the bottom of the hill I slid down. No wheels were touching the ground. I managed to get a plow operator with one of those blades with a point on one side to help pile snow to one side, to help by hooking the blade under the front bumper and get me to where the rear wheels were on the ground. Instead of the slow slide I hoped for it dropped it down and blew the front shocks but that was all. Yes, I was DUI and 17. Not a binger or a problem drinker just partied occasionally, rarely drinking. New York Area, the 60's, I was smoking most of the time in addition to my cigarettes. I remember I was drinking because I was reaching in the back seat in the middle of the hill for another beer, took my eyes off the road too long, and could not make the 90 turn at the bottom in time on the ice. That was the most snow I ever saw until the whiteouts around Loring AFB Maine, where I went TDY for a month in 1972.

Wolf,
I just get tickled reading about your niece. Does she know she has a fan club rooting for her too! And that we are all over the world keeping an eye out?

Sassy,
Alexa works, I had to play with it at 2 in the morning for a bit after reading your experiences. Ask her if she loves you, she's funny. I also asked her to marry me. She isn't as much of a smart axe as Cortana is on my Windows phone. I like the idea of the device being in a central place and always on for questions etc. Mine needs a lot more training. I asked her to play Sinatra and she gave me a list of albums to buy.

Dee!

Hi Toots, Venus, FBL, and all the ships at sea!

I'm really sorry for your brother SW.
Make sure you let him know this was not his fault. There's no logic in suicide.

A person can have the best support in the world, but that means little if they choose not to use that support.

Prayers for that poor soul who died, and for your brother to get through this.
I'm sure his fellow AAs will all support him.

Wolfie, that is so sad. Sending strength for your brother!

Itchy, if you don't have prime membership then Alexa will just list albums. Using the phone/tablet app one can apparently also upload iTunes library for Alexa to access.

Thanks D, Venus & Saskia, my brother is mainly GA & CA (I think the person was going CA for crack addiction) its gutting for him as I think his sponser told him to step bk around a week ago and he did and now I think he feels gutted

I did tell him its not his fault & I also told him that now he's coming up on a year he needs to start listening to his heart more something I wish I told him sooner

I'm not really asking questions I told him I'm your brother first before anything and we'l meet up this week

I'm going to speak with him first thing in the morning

Wolf I'm sorry your brother had to find out how little we can be at cause for another so bluntly. No one could stop us from drinking or make us quit. We each know that. I hope your brother lets his departed friend go his way because its a done deal. We all looked over that edge of oblivion every time we picked up. Every time. Sometimes a person's bottom is death. None of us can be at effect for another. None of that helps. The mind can understand intellectually but the hearts lags weeks behind. Aw hell, life doesn't get any better with sobriety, we do. But a big bump still rocks us on our heels.

Let him have his grief. I lost my brother the month after I quit five years and a few months ago. It had nothing to do with my sobriety. Grief isn't better or worse sober, just grief.

<sigh>

Venuskitty,
Alexa is warming up and beginning to understand me. Really. Here is a video of the Fire TV and Alexa that has learned the person she serves. amazon fire tv alexa demo - Bing video
These things are amazing. it would be neat if they cross pollinated and we had our girls talking to each other to share how to do what we want.

Hi Mags,
Getting in the spirit yet?

IP,
I think I figured out your smoking fireplace/stove:
