Snooz ~ can you possibly text (or call) again and suggest that you find some time to talk about this together?

er...I think you should have waited too Snooz - that sounds like an ultimatum, which is IMO is not the best way to handle it.

You didn't get into this situation overnight - there's not going to be any instant fixes I'm afraid.

You would never last the summer in Townsville heat anyway - Brissy is bad enough

Hello class.
How's everybody doing?
I just read through some of the post. I see that some are having issues with relationships.
My only advice after 20 years of marriage.
As I get older that whole "in love" thing changes. It's really just an emotion.
More of an immature feeling that everybody craves and then leave somebody when it doesn't "feel" right anymore. It's probably destroyed or been used as an excuse to wreck more marriages than any other reason including financial hardships. Driven people to go searching, infidelity and so on. Only to lose that fleeting feeling of "in love" again.
In the long run realizing that what you had wasn't all that bad to begin with.

So my advice,
Learn to mature with your feelings. Don't look for the fleeting "feeling" of love but, learn to embrace the good that happens. Sure, things get boring and that one time Knight in shinning armor is a bit tarnished now.
But, a bit of a spit shine might just be what's needed.
And for Goodness sake, stay sober.

God bless,stepping off the box.

Snooz. I'm worried about you.

You had already said holidaying up on Townsville was a mistake because you went and drank.

Now you are going to move there?

It wasn't that long ago you were praising Shaun for his love and support, taking time off while you got ready to go into rehab. Now this? I'm just going to say it. I'm very, very worried that Shaun not being around takes away a barrier to drinking.

Sorry, but I'm an alcoholic too, and I know in hindsight leaving my ex was to give myself some unfettered drinking time. Oh, I told myself all sorts of other reasons, but that's what it was.

I would give anything to have him back.

Wendy, maybe you and Shaun can find something you both like. A common hobby or activity that you both enjoy. Set aside time to do it.

I knew a man with a bucket from there once Bob....

There once was a man from Nantucket
Who kept all his cash in a bucket.
His daughter, named Nan,
Ran away with a man,
And as for the bucket, Nantucket.

thats the PG version

OMG ! :/

Crois , my darling Crois. You saw through that one big time didn't you !!
!
Wtf am I thinking? Who am I kidding?

This post just gave me the biggest slap across the face!

Of course deep down I want to go there and drink , bloody hell , what is wrong with me :-(

I think I've just lost the plot actually . but this post .....forced me to talk to Shaun when I got home.

I showed him your post. We are talking. It started a dialogue.

We have sat down for over an hour discussing it all and mannnnnn what a load of my mind.

Many tears were shed. I've been bottling this up for so long.

I've appologised for my behaviour of indifference. I really do believe I have forced him into a depression as I'm usually always so upbeat and bubbly.

I've lost that along the way.

I believe you are right Dee. I think losing Ryleigh was the beginning of all this. I feel like there has been a death and I'm grieving for her.

I have even discussed the COUNCELLING word with Shaun & he is not keen but wants the marriage and I have realised so do I . After reading all your insightful answers I've had a lot to think about today.

Isn't it amazing , that the people who are the priority in my life at this moment are you guys.

I take your replies very seriously & because you are all so blatantly honest as well , it means so much to me.

At the hospital where I work we are allowed 3 free councelling sessions a year & I'm going to do it. As you said Dee ...why not. Yes why not indeed, what have I got to lose ......just EVERYTHING I once held dear.

This is the beginning.

Crois , I love you. That post slapped me silly.

Oh God! I'm so relieved to see what you've posted, Snooz.

I'm so very, very glad you talked to Shaun. My ex was depressed too for a period not long before we broke up. It takes two people to make a relationship, and to reveal our frailties...and sometimes, we are ugly and selfish and forget there's a living breathing other person who feels as deeply as we do and needs to feel understood and loved too.

I think the 3 counselling sessions will do you the world of good. That is what I did before I kicked my horrific job in last year. Just the weight off your shoulders talking things out with a neutral person helps so much.

Hugs to you and Shaun this afternoon. I hesitated before I posted my thoughts above today, but then I thought, no F this, I'm not going to pretend and ignore what I think is going on here. I expect you to call bull---- on me too if I ever misbehave! and so then I knew in my heart I had to post what I thought.xx

Always post what's in your heart sweetheart , Shaun has gone to work , I feel serene , he was whistling out to his car ...all because of YOU Crois.

Feel happy that you changed 2 people's lives today , although yours didn't work out , you were unselfish enough to post why and help me , I truly love you ️xxx
