48 hours without alcohol. The last two hours were very tough. I wanted to finish too many things around the house so I could focus on a fun project. And that nasty little voice in my head kept telling me "I can't do this sober. I can't". Ugh!

But I managed to do almost everything on my list without a drink and without medication.

I'm going to have a shower even though it's mid afternoon. I hope it helps.

I'm an avid reader and find solace in stories. Does anyone have any good recommendations in what to read while I work through this?

Yes! Shantaram is an amazing and the characters are delightful, they'll feel like friends of yours xo

" and the band played on" is good too, it's about HIV/ AIDS.

Have been doing good. Almost like you, just I have not been able to get to 60 straight days. But more sober days in the past year. Most of the drinking has been moderate. And very few crazy drinking days, remember just 2, one in June and another earlier this month. I realized that i slip only when i do not have a plan or I do not follow one.

So now every night i make one for the next day, and i keep reminding myself about the next 3 - 4 tasks. I also have started working on longer term plans, couple of weeks ahead. If at work we can have 6 month , a year ahead roadmap, why not for myself. Stay close to SR. A bit meditation also helps. Looking for some reading material about mindfulness.
Hoping this time I can lock the door to alcohol and loose the keys for ever.

Me too, my drinking has been moderate, only about 2-3 bad incidents this year since nov/ dec last year.
But i really can't drink anything because I get insomnia now even after a couple drinks, it lasts for up to 3 days, plus I get anxiety and bad hangovers even though I didn't drink very much.
For some reason I get really dark circles under my eye even after one drink, they appear under my eyes after literally half a glass of wine- clearly my body is done with it; my mind just needs to catch up
I do yoga and meditate, I find walks by the river highlight my whole day too.
Lets get our 30 and 60 days and keep going after that!
Xoxo
Glad to see you

It is strange, i have most of the same symptoms after any amount, I can't sleep well, anxiety, and extreme lethargy next few days. I have started exercising and that has become a big excuse not to drink and best of all, friends not offering either, "you have to go and excercise tomorrow so you won't drink".

Yes exactly! It takes up 3-4 days to feel normal again even if I didn't finish a bottle of wine, I think the gig is ip for me on this one
Its gotten to the point it's just not worth it.
One other thing I noticed is that my eyes get really dry and its a bit difficult to see the day after, its not debilitating, but hard to focus on things. Its weird.

Me too. And it lasts a few days. And the annoying ringing in the ears. And the chills, you feel like you can't get warm enough, no matter how hard you try...ugh!

Jumping in here from the past as well. Celebrated birthday last week with my last trip off the wagon. Have been hitting it hard for a few weeks surprised myself how I was flying by my previous limits. Progressive bastard. Who needs it.

Sober sat and Sunday but still feel hungover. Going to bed and wake up feeling better. Look forward to friends new and old on the SR

A depressing weekend due to world events.
I stayed sober though. I am just filling all my time to distract me. My plan yesterday was to go for a bike ride, 63km later I was so tired I just wanted a shower and then bed.

Woke up today with sore legs and a sore ass but most importantly a clear head.

Got to work hard today to complete day 10.

Stay safe everybody
