Hi Leigh! I think you asked me before if I have tried AVRT as well and I have not. Is that something you do online? Has it helped you?

There are some great links here re AVRT Ladybug, but I don't know where they are....Dee or Leigh or someone else here will be able to give them to you.
You can look it up online if you have time...AVRT based recovery....
(Sorry if this is a bit useless, LOL).

I think I've fashioned together a little of every recovery method. I always read whatever I can too.

A book I've never heard anyone mention on SR. was one I downloaded in my first weekend of recovery. Although it was a drug addict writing it, the same mind games and thought processes were happening and I related to it. As he journalled through his first 30 days, I could see my bratty AV, and how it blamed everyone or everything else as a damn good reason to drink. Even seeking out drugs in the lowest places possible .....was how I felt showing my face in my local bottle store. A scumbag. That's really how I felt.

This guys life was nothing like mine in many ways, but his mind, his AV, was something I could relate to.

Hello everyone,
I made an offer on the condo! Now it's that horrible stage of offer/counter offer. I really dislike this process, not sure what to counter.
Glad you guys are with me through this process! Change needs to happen!

Hey gang!

It was a long day of walking around the car swap meet today. Nice day, but my feet are hurting. I only spent about 20$ and picked up some cool stuff.
It was fun hanging out with a coworker that I call a friend.

When I used to visit my bottle shop the guy would reach behind and grab my "usual" before I reached the counter. I used to mix it up and visit at least 2 shops. But, the same thing began to happen with the same ole routine.

I honestly think I grew out of drinking. Sounds odd and it may not be the "correct" way to do it. But, I didn't see any use in drinking hard stuff ,not getting drunk but going straight to black out. Drinking became...well...no fun.
Hangover that felt like I was going to die? That was NO fun.

It had to stop. I literally watched as people died from chronic alcohol abuse.
And these were middle aged people. Had much more life to live and now gone.
I'm sure that I would have ended up the same way if I didn't get a handle on my alcoholism. I'm thankful every day that I am sober.

Bob, awesome thoughts you shared. I actually am living not far from a hotel that was an old work mates local hangout. This was long before I thought I had a problem, and he was known to have a drinking problem, not showing up to work. Or leaving early. He went to the Doctor one day and found out he had not long to live. He literally died 2 short weeks after that visit to the doctor.

Went to the casino first time sober. It was interesting. A little urge at first due to old times.
I drive everywhere now. If I drive I cant have anything so its like double reinforcement.
I won a little bit of money ( sober coincendence?) wooohoo
It was so smokey. Its easier to walk away when your up a little bit and sober.
Great posts Bob!
Congrats on going for a condo Leshar!!

Funny my real name is super star also.

Take care all!!

LOL let.
And well done on the casino triumph!

One of the things I love most about this group is that no one takes their sober time for granted; we are all working hard on our recovery. I learn so much from all of you...

Bob you just reminded me to be GRATEFUL for being a live recovering middle-aged alcoholic, instead of a dead one. I can never be reminded enough in fact.
I am fully aware that self-pity is a shocking look in recovery, but I have definitely been feeling sorry for myself lately. Really? Enough.

Thank you Crois....I will look for that book now.

That is awesome re the offer Leshar!
If it's meant to be....and I think it just might be.

Hi folks,
I hope I can withdraw my offer. I'm not sure how the legal stuff works. There's a problem with the parking spot. It's rented and I spoke to the guy who rents it to the current owners and he said he wouldn't rent it to me until I'd bought the condo and moved in, and even then maybe not as he might move himself and sell his place with his parking spot. He was a bit of a jerk, really. So, I emailed the realtor and withdrew my offer. The sellers had counter offered and I hadn't signed back on this so I hope I have an out. I think I will have to continue searching for a place that definitely has its own parking spot.
Great post, Bob!

Hmmmmm......yes, definitely. A parking spot is essential.
And even if he doesn't sell, it sounds like that guy is not going to be a good neighbour.

(No clue on the legalities with real estate, but it sounds like you have done the right thing to get out of it).

There are online worksheets, I believe. I haven't done it myself but have read about it and many people here have talked about it. It seems to make sense for people who have a very active AV.

I se that Dee sent you the SR link. You can also give it a Google Search.

Sending love and a firm belief that you will beat this, Ladybug.

Hi all

Great post Bob :-) sounds like you got a few good bargains my friend.

Leshar, Venus is right! You really need your own parking spot. What a bummer . I'm sure you can rescind your offer without penalty.
There's definitely a place out there for you. Half the fun is searching for it xx

I hope everyone had a lovely weekend , I'm quite tired, was really busy at work today , can feel the zzzzzzzzs coming on xx
