Evening, Overs! Thanks for helping me celebrate :-). Toots probably remembers the misery I felt as I kept relapsing. I feel worlds better now.

IP, it sounds like you are starting the process of getting settled in to your new place! You sound well-grounded about dumping the guy and sound overall optimistic.

I've gotten roped into helping my fellow inmates at the old folks' home with their computer questions and problems but a few people really spoiled it - I shouldn't be surprised. Computer help morphed into anything tech help - TVs, remotes, voice recorders, phone plans, ad nauseum. So now I'm going to limit my helping to a user group I've started. I've always had a very difficult time saying 'no' but I'm no longer willing to be miserable because i can't!

I'm back on the scooter a little wiser now

I have a friend who was one of those precision stunt drivers for many years - he's going to give me some defensive driving pointers

Congrats Sassy!
15 Months ago you got SASSIFIED! We all know that feeling, although my relapses took place daily. Daily I would say I have to stop or die and daily I went about ten minutes in the morning and one cup of coffee with no shots to stop the shaking than feeling that was good enough to prove I could, I'd promise my self tomorrow is the day. Repeat 835 times for two years of self-disgust.

Sassy, welcome to the getting to know the freeloader's club. I had many "friends" take advantage and I started tracking hours and when I needed labor done they were good at or could do, I'd ask for the return. They would get indignant and say that it wasn't equal/fair/the same! So I said no problem, from now on plan on getting the discount friends rate of about 2/3rds off my hourly rate of$90 professionally. I have taken their old computers in trade when setting up their new systems in lieu of charging them and do load all their software/updates for them and tweak their systems. Then I take their old systems and put a 70 buck SSD in them and up the RAM from 4-8 and with that 100 dollar investment get double my money back. For me that is fun a few times a year. A whole nursing home full????

It does feel better today.

IP and Carlos, looks like we three are moving and decorating. I am procrastinating again and the piles are still there in front of my desk. Today was sunny and 68 degrees cool and dry. My winter grass seed is coming up everywhere! I call it frog hair at this stage. We got the trim in the living room painted with the last coat. We did the joiner trim instead of letting them do it as they are not great trim carpenters like my SH is.

Andy!
Hi!

FG good to see you too as well as Gil my old friend!

Hope all the overs have a great week!

Morning overs

What's 'the trim' itchy, is it what we call skirting board?

Inpar, tree table sounds brill! A guy on eBay, well there's probably several, makes seats and tables out of tree trunks, carved, they look great and rustic. Hang on to yours!

Sassy, nice work on the user group! Some just take advantage of good nature. I have a problem saying no, too!

Hope it's a good for everyone. Speak later.

Sass yes, yours has been a journey I have walked some of with you. I got pretty much all my failure out the way before I joined SR, only had 3 more day ones after joining the last being when I joined the class of March 2013 of which Sass is a classmate. Plus we had our f2f meet which was awesome. So I am so proud to have been a small part in your road to recovery. You held my hand many times through my early days of struggling to keep my emotions and cravings in check. We Marchers make a good team!

FG wind has picked up now, I'm hoping the Tay bridge stays open, it's a huge detour or a train trip to work otherwise.

Hugs Overs, have a good week

I didn't mean to sound like a lecturer before and i hope the back pain relieves itself I knew you were hurt but didn't realise it was that bad so of course im going to say rest and be concerned you have been such a good friend/mate since I've been here

I keep getting bad headaches and I think it starts in my neck might have to speak to the GP as I've been monitoring it these last 2 months

And its awesome you have a ex stunt driver friend to give you excellent hints & tips

I don't think it's wrong that you have a lot of ppl telling you this it shows how many ppl care about you & we all can't be wrong so please take it easy while your back heals in my best non lecture voice lol

Stretching is meant to be good I stretch first thing in the morning & last thing at night

Stretching is underated

Itchy - hah! If this were a nursing home I doubt the residents would be asking for tech help - I'm not quite that far gone yet
This is actually a fancy "retirement" community where they have 3 levels of living - independent, assisted and skilled nursing. It's in independent where it gets challenging. From what I'm seeing, as I age I'm planning on going lower tech. What I see happening with many at the older end (eg 85 and up) is that some who are used to fancy systems can no longer grasp how to use them nor do they remember from one day to the next after you show them. I should add, however, that we have some in their 90s who are as sharp as a tack still (and some who are not so economically-advantaged). I like your solution, though!

Gilmer, great to see you

Both Gilmer and Toots are from my March 2013 class (I was originally in May 2012 - also OLL's class) and both have been a huge help to me as I struggled for a very long time. And I've met with both f2f which was awesome :-). It felt like we'd known each other for a long time.

Have a lovely day, Overs!

IP, (brrrrr) and (grrrrrrr). I lived in a seriously under insulated home in northern New England for several years. I do not have good winter memories from that time. I'll keep fingers crossed that yours isn't too bad!

Mags,
Here's the trim she did from buying, cutting, nailing, painting. scratch.

Wolf,
I was kidding about lecturing, it's ALL good.

Sassy one,
My wife does those in house moves for several of them here. I knew you were in a retirement community and not in memory care or even assisted living. I just group them all together but just got reamed by SWMBO( She Who Must Be Obeyed) that the distinction is important! I shall refer to your over 55 SHTC (Swinging High Tech Commune) as such in the future.

Wow you have met some of us! I have only spoken to two or three by phone. You go girls! Gil's also an old friend here too. You guys are welcome to stop by here too, if any are traveling through Shreveport area on I-20 we can meet for lunch or dinner. PM if any Overs are.

Hey Zip!

FBL yep!

IP that sounds positively rustic! I sure hope your insulation is up to it, and you are comfy cozy through the winter.

Dee,
Glad you are feeling better save the back. I commiserate.

Nite Wolf!

The pic would not take in the first post try again:
Hey! What's going on. Pics cannot be 450X0 dimensions?? That is a line. Have the pics been turned off? Mine are resized to only about 70-85kb, no giant multi megabyte raw pics.

Whassup?
