So we took the light rail line from our cushy suburb to downtown Dallas for the fair. As you get closer to the city the clientele of the train begins to change. At one point a woman got on who had very obviously slipped thru the cracks of society & frankly humanity. She had on 2 different shoes, a bag full of trash, a bag of sticks & ropes around her head covering her eyes. She also had a very strong smell of urine emitting from her. What stuck me more than anything was what was sticking out of her backpack. It was a bottle of rubbing alcohol with a straw it it.
There but for the grace of the universe, folks. It's all I could think.
Cherish your sobriety friends, no matter if it's 24 minutes, 24 hours, 24 days, 24 months or 24 years. May we never, ever forget where we've been or where we could wind up if we pick up again.

Hope, Faith & Courage. I've only been in the rooms of AA for about 3 years. Yet, I see that recovery absolutetly is possible. We all have different bottoms. Hearts I'll be including the woman you wrote of tonight in my prayers.
I am very grateful that I can sign in here for another 24 hours of my recovery. Thanks to my HP, AA, & each one of you on SR,
