Key of C, music and the dance floor worked for me at the first wedding I went to. It was almost a relief when people had had a few drinks and no one cared and we danced the night away. Despite being nervous, and wound up (and logging on here at the beginning of the ceremony), by the end of the night, it was amazing.

I was one of the last to leave!

I had a sad dream last night about the ex who started me on to drinking more than I should. Not blaming, but alcohol was definitely introduced into my life in a big way when we started dating. He'd call me uptight if I didn't want to drink during the week etc. etc. Anyway, he was already drinking alcoholically then, and was a shell of a man when I saw him about 6 years ago (we had dated around 2001).

In the dream I'm not drinking, not even tempted to drink. And he says lets go out for dinner. We arrive at the restaurant, he's not hungry and just wants to drink (sound familiar?), then gets bored, let's go somewhere else. By the end of the dream, we have gone to several locations, while he drinks and the dream ends where he has wet himself and they refuse to serve him where we are.

It was a very sad dream, he was on a very bad path when I last saw him around 2009 (I had just begun my bad drinking years too), but by that stage, he'd had some very bad dui car accidents, and I believe some violent episodes with his wife. Just sad. Reminds me why we can't drink, because it does just get worse and worse. I pray he's made it out ok.

Hi everyone,

Enjoying a nice Sunday here. Weather is beautiful - we took the girls to the zoo this morning. I absolutely love this time of year. No school tomorrow so heading to a pumpkin patch festival. Hope everyone is having a good weekend. Thinking of you Key and hoping the wedding went well?!

Mums, pumpkins and corn stalks - my favorite porch display.

Have a great time at the pumpkin patch, LB2.

Cross, yes, what a sad dream.

Alcohol destroys so many.

Let's all stay away forever and ever.

Hiya Dee

I'm going great thanks, better than I expected actually :-)

No desire to drink at all. I thought I was really going downhill this time, but it just goes to show, we can pull ourselves back from the brink.

Share our stories and give & receive help when we need it.

Now ...to address the choccy issue .... Lol

Still gotta be better than drinking

Glad you are going so well, Snooz.

I had this weird feeling today, not a craving as such....but just felt like a swig of port, for the sweet flavour. I think my blood sugar was a bit low. It passed quite quickly.

Other than that nada on the wanting to drink.

Hey guys! I did so much typing yesterday I forgot this one sorry! I had an amazing time at the wedding! There was so much drinking going on but it didnt phase me. I ordered my water in my big champagne glass and went on. They had beer and any liquor you could want all around me and when I felt it was too much I just went and hung out with my kiddos! I danced almost every song! Yes to keep me busy and it kept me away from the drinking. Right now I just have a very low tolerance for people who are drunk. Drinking ok, drunk...no. They begged us to go to the after party but we declined. My husband knew I'd had enough fun! Lol
Thank you for all your support! That win over this weekend feels wonderful and shows me I can do whatever I set my mind to!

Good for you Key :-) great news.

I'm glad you could enjoy life without an altering substance. Best thing is ...you remember it all , plus the huge bonus of NO hangover :-)
