Kik is a chat app for your phone.
I'd have to agree with Dee, it's not safe to post your username here Jess. You won't believe how many times they hacked my Twitter account after I posted my name on a public forum (wasn't SR).

Hi guys,
Stick w us Troy, we need you just as much as you need us.

Coley, I can relate 100%. My mom is an alcoholic, we had to do an intervention earlier this year and although she's dry now, she's still angry and bitter and I don't have my mom back the way I wanted it to be....but I have to make peace with what I do have and remember there is still hope. And that I can't control anything but @me".

key of C, thanks for sharing those readings. I agree w Benice too, sometimes we are sadder than we can choose to be, but there is power in thought. Hence why I go thru the motions sometimes with affirmations and listing my blessings, so those stay in the forefront of my mind vs the sadness. And feeling lonely yesterday, I reached out to my friend in the hospital and will visit this weekend. If I want a friend I have to be a friend, ya know?! What better way to stave off loneliness than to visit someone less fortunate than me.

Day 6 ending today. Patricia I hear you on the detox (and Troy), even the 2 glasses of wine I had 6 days ago took me much longer to get out of my system. So not worth the false "relief" they supposedly bring.
Love and strength to all of us, wherever you are in your fight.
Sorry Gjess, I don't use kik. Please stick around here!

Thanks for welcoming me back everyone. Appreciate it.

(((Sadie))) My Californian friend. What happened? Are you ok?

As for the detoxes off small amounts after terms of sobriety, I don't know, what is that? I've read several stories on SR of people who were sober for 3 or 6 months say, then one night had 2 or 3 beers, and ended up on the floor frothing at the mouth. Why is that? Anyone know?

No it wasn't worth it. I was feeling fine earlier today, but now the anxiety is back, I'm having obsessive thoughts...I'm very tired but my mind is running at 100 miles/hour. I have to keep telling myself that this is just withdrawals and that it will get better. You are right, it wasn't worth it, each detox is harder than the last...ugh

Something like that happened to me after the second beer the other day. I don't want to be graphic but it was gross and shocking at the same time...I used to drink much more than that without making any mess on the floor...it really scared me.

Like I've said to a couple of people today I faltered quite a few time Sadie.

Each time I knew a little more, and was prepared to do a little more to change things so I'd stay sober.

This doesn't have to be a catastrophic relapse, put the drink down on a table - get some soda or water and make this a blip

Congrats vanaprastha and anyone else hitting a milestone today.

Sounds like you're talking about seizures Troy - not everyone has those, but that kindling thing where withdrawal gets worse and worse the more years we drink, is a very real thing.

I drove to work today thinking of you guys today, and especially Patricia. I think we all need to stick together, no matter what month your start date ends up being in. I think of this group as a little family of support right now. We stick together through all of it, no matter what someone has done or is going through.

Troy I'm glad to see you back. Argh I hope you stay with us not sure if you are unhappy with the group or not, hard to tell from your post. Sadie, it's not the end of the world. Expect to see you getting back and dusting off, and that goes for everyone who has had a relapse. You only fail if you quit quitting. This is hard and it might take a time or two to figure it out. And Van, congratulations on 60 days; that is fantastic!

Retread, ironically I was thinking the opposite due to my relapse. But no, I love the Augustables, hence why I'd prefer to stay in this class versus join a new one.

If I come off a little strange, don't worry, that's just early sobriety talking. You know that stage when all the emotions that are generally numbed by alcohol begin surfacing, and you're unsure what to do with them? One minute you're happy, next you're sad, next you're angry, next you're excited, etc. That stage.

For example, went to the pet store earlier, and they were playing a Lifehouse song that reminded me of my past. I had to hold back tears while I was walking up to the cashier. That wouldn't happen if I was numbed out with alcohol.

Totally agreed with your first paragraph. Stick together, through the good and bad. Hope all is well with you.

Guys

Argh's deal is not wanting to be part of a moderated website where sometimes posts are removed.

That's his choice - and I thank him for being civil and not blowing this up into a big thing.

I trust that makes it clear to everyone now.

I'd ask now that any further discussion about this be taken off-thread to PM please.

These threads are for recovery support. Lets get back to it

Troy I've been emotional this week hearing music too, a few tears have welled up for me too.

Sadie I missed your post last night! How are you today? Dee is right, just get back up on the horse, this can be a minor blip in your sobriety path.

We are stronger together August gang!! Thinking of all of you today!

Music does it for me, too. I have a lot of past, some of it pretty hard to deal with. Music is the one thing that can take me straight into that wall of pain.

Feeling down today. Tired of fighting. When I was in my 20s it seemed like I had all the answers. I followed through. I was unbeatable. Now I'm in my 40s and talk about midlife crisis...I feel lost. Good days are a rare occasion...constantly struggling to survive. Sorry about the depressing post...I'd better go for a walk, I need to stop thinking so much...

Unfortunately I have a hangover and still another day of a meeting. I caved to wine before our filmed skit nonsense. Of course couldnt stop at one glass. All due to my insecurities with extroverts and pressure to "perform". Thanks Augustables , we are there for each other, thank you.

One,more note... I look a decade older than 2 days ago. Ordered room service, wanna barf, blah. This is not worth it. Had sobriety down pretty well until this. gotta work on more obviously. Wish me strength to get thru today.
