Good morning, Marchers!

Wow - another week just disappeared!

My sweet little kitty (16 years old) seems to be ailing a bit. Nothing specific but she is more clingy and is not happy when I leave the apartment; also some other subtle behavioral changes. I know she has most of her life behind her and just hope that when the end comes it will be peaceful.

((Marcher)) I'm sorry you had such a difficult week with so much sad news.

Babs, great job on 2 weeks!

We, I do all of my shopping from my couch - I refuse to go inside a mall.

Sass -- hugs to Sassy Kitty. My 6 year old just told me that he's going to invent a potion when he's older that will make our pets live as long as we do. I only wish...

Felt extremely vulnerable this weekend so I didn't leave the house other than to walk the dogs! I was seriously afraid that if I went out I would drink -- so I hid out instead. It didn't help that the weather was horrible - dark, rainy and windy. Something told me to just lay low. The upside to that is that I got most of my Christmas shopping done (lots of photo gift stuff).

Budd, how are things with the roof?

And, Trachy, hope you're staying warm.

Dee, I hope you're doing well.

(((Duff)))! Sorry you are feeling vulnerable - but good that you recognized it and are doing what you need to do.

And please give your 6-year old a big hug for having such a lovely idea!

Hi everyone!

Roofer coming later this week. Hopefully no heavy rain until then.

The part I found amazing about the situation is the way Tracy handled it and the difference in how I dealt with it compared to how I would have been 3 years ago.

Back then a ceiling collapse would have ended in at least 3 binges, one the day it happened, one the day I actually cleaned it up, (it would have been at least a 3 day job, even though it wasn't really all that much) and when I got the repair quote.

The day it happened, Tracy didn't want me to start until she saw it and took pictures, in case insurance would cover it. ( it didn't).

She came home on her lunch break, looked at it and we had it cleaned up and covered up within 45 minutes, like it was just another daily chore.

She's never been a drinker but has two alcoholic sisters. ( no, I didn't date either one).

Once it was temporarily patched up, it was on with normal life. Again, that would have been way different a few years ago.

Now, onto the estranged Mrs Budd, apparently, the fact that I gave her everything when we split up, and we both have been living separately for 10 years, she feels I should give her half of my retirement that I didn't even start until we split up. She's claiming she wants everything to be fair, but has only suggested that I should pay her for the time we've been apart.

I agree she should get an appropriate amount from my pension as that backdated to when I originally started with the job in 1999. But anything I've made since 2006 I feel should be mine and anything she'd made should be hers.

I guess this won't go as quietly as I had hoped

I have found that splitting firewood is really therapeutic. If it would only stack itself up.

Budd, sorry to hear that about Mrs Budd. Sorta reminds me of Mr. Sassy. His view that what was his was his plus 1/2 of what was mine was his. Perfect example of truly screwball logic!

Isn't it great how we keep on noticing (and enjoying) all those little things that we do differently now.

Yeah ditto the first Mr T, wanted half of everything I worked for. Coz it's hard work sitting on your fat ass drinking Guinness and vodka!!!! Fortunately he was too much of a pi$$head to get round to organising a shark lawyer or he may well have fleeced me!
The current Mr T earns the bulk of our living, if anything happened between us I'd want enough for a wee flat and let him keep the rest. Sides, I'm planning on holding onto him until he pops his clogs - then I get the whole lot and I'm a Merry Widow!

Enjoy your trip Babs.

Good to see you Duff.

And Sass, congratulations sweetheart on 16 months. I hope Sassy Kiity is just a bit down and not fading xx

Good morning Marchers It's a hot muggy Paradise this morning but that's good, it's all part of summer along with purple jacaranda petals on the ground, flies in your face and tick stuff on the dog.

Ken I'm glad to hear that you are settling into this new life even with the constant change that is life.

Toots I hadn't thought to suggest al-anon to A, I'll do that.

No news yet on the woman in the induced coma, we are now at two and a half weeks so misgivings are creeping in. Gosh when I think of how many times I cheated real risk ...

Anyway, have a good day all.

WTG, Sas!

Duff, I've adopted the ascetic life style. Good weather has helped but I rarely run the heat. Usual indoor temp between 60 and 65. Well insulated apartment. I have enough fleeces and sweaters to keep me happy and a really nice warm hat. Good covers on the bed and a little electric heater for the bathroom. I'll turn the whole house heat on during cool mornings. Then off for 23 hours. Reminds me of 50 years ago. Kinda fun.

Good morning, Marchers!

It's a little early to tell what kind of day it will be but it will be a good one no matter what.

Trachy, I'm used to much lower indoor temps than many so yours don't sound that bad. Good for the environment, pocketbook and health.
