Good morning! Kinda rushed cuz I slept in, fighting off allergies.

We've got a few Halloween costume ideas floating around... From the grim reaper to Mario brothers. It's one of my favorite holidays. My family goes big with it. Looking back to this time last year, I had an arsenal of seltzer and chocolate, of course. It was a fun night. On the way home, some dingaling was driving on the wrong side of the road. I remember being so thankful for my alertness that night.

Hi-hi, hi-ho, it's off to work I go. Enjoy the day everyone!

Was just discussing Halloween options with my 11yo son. He does not know what to be. He loves superheroes. Thought about Batman, but wonders if it is "too little kiddish." Then he mentioned kids are talking about being food, like tacos, or a slice of pizza, etc... Not sure if my older one will go. I think she is too old, but she is reluctant to give it up. Candy, you know...

We have a great neighborhood for Halloween. Large loop, little traffic. Sidewalks. Kids get driven here to TorT. We go through tons of candy. I have 8 bags already.

Dropped my phone in the toilet last night. Ugh. I had loaded my pockets with some things needing to travel upstairs at bedtime. No room for the phone, so I tucked it in my waistband. Spaced on that fact and you can imagine the rest. I charge my phone in my bedroom at night. So, it was no longer bedtime, but wide awake, save my phone time, at midnight. I have it in a bag of rice. They say 2-3 days. It was only in the water for a second. fingers crossed. I feel lost without it already! My daughter texts me during the day at times, and I have to drop her somewhere today, and like being able to keep in touch. How dependent we have grown on phones.

Good morning y'all,

Nice chilly start to the day in the mid 40s.

My little one said her costume is 'troublemaker'? I liked it best when she was a bumble bee or snow white..... No grown up costume parties for me that I know of and I'm glad because I would have no idea about stuff like that.

Let's make it a good Wednesday gang.

And today we give a big high five to Arbor who rounds out a month today of sobriety and healthy living. Not always easy, but always worth it.

Thanks Mark. It was a great month. Flew by! I hope there's many more to come.

My three year old is gonna be a robot. Homemade costume designed and built by momma. They don't do costumes or parades at his school anymore so it will be a trunk n' treat thing in town.

(((Venus))) so good to see you!

Apparently I've caught the crud or just have super bad allergies. It was a long work day so I'm in pajamas and heading for bed early. It would be great to wake up feeling much better after a good night's sleep. Fingers crossed!

Great to see you back V.

We have a relative from Dallas headed over Friday to spend a few days. That's nothing unusual. The twist this time is that she is going to be meeting a college buddy of mine (he lost his wife tragically three years ago this month). I know my friend is a little anxious about this, but I told him I'd support him every step of the way. This is a classic situation that really bugs me about feeling 'weak' or 'different' by not being able relax over dinner and wine because I feel that all involved (except me) would have more fun that way. It's male pride I guess (yes I am that shallow at times). I don't necessarily frame this as me wanting to drink, more of navigating through the evening without the social crutch that I can't use but that the others would likely enjoy in a situation like this. I like to make things perfect for people if I can. Anyway, I'm not sure why I felt the need to post about it....just feeling like my 'problem' is on display in this situation and I'm surprisingly agitated. So just putting it out there to my support team for accountability!

Thanks V!! Good to see you. Hope your ok and are on the mend.

Lots going around Conquest now that schools in full force. My son has gotten a cold twice already and I've gotten one of his. Plus some seasonal stuff I'm sure on top of it all. I finally stopped blowing my nose after two weeks. Rest is best. Hitting the sack early sounds good.

So your thinking your company Mark will feel more relaxed if your drinking with them or providing them with the situation even though you don't want to drink? Hmmm...sounds like just some twisted AV nonsense to me.

Good on you for calling it out, Mark. Playing it through, and I mean all the way through to days later, helps me when I can foresee temptation.
You got this!

Yep, romancing the idea of it all I guess...classic AV stuff. Old mindsets die hard at times. But I feel better already by pre-working this through. By Friday night I'm gonna be cool as a cucumber and mr charming host! On that note, I'm turning in.... it'll be gym time before I know it. Night!

How are you, V?

Congratuations, Arbor.

I had a very busy, phoneless day, with errands, driving daughter around and then bringing the puppy to the hospital. Just got back and settling in for a night of sleeping with one eye open with him, in the family room. He was very sick, must have eaten something. They checked for any tummy blockages(x-ray) and hydrated him, and gave him a couple of meds to calm the nausea and vomiting. Hopefully he is over it. Ugh. Poor little guy.

Hope you wake feeling better Conquest.

Mark, you got this! I know the feeling you describe.

I'm not OK...sorry.
I feel like it's a huge burden on all of you to keep doing this, so I stopped talking.

The truth is this: this has been the hardest year of my life. And I am lonely and sad and scared and a whole lot of other things....I love you all so much, and I am so happy for all of the good things happening for you, but I can't get there myself. It's just so painful...and yes, I am very depressed.

I don't want to be this person. I want to be happy. I took my own advice and started reading my Carlson book again...it helped a bit. I am taking vitamins and getting sleep and tomorrow I will go back to work.

Just focusing on gratitude...Ms Fluff got better again after the many many hours of TLC I gave her...it was so exhausting....cat or kid, when you are up with them for hours on end, you know what it feels like. So glad she is OK right now, glad I am sober and that I forced myself to post.

I'm glad venus the cat is OK again - have faith that Venus the person will be too

I know how demoralising long illness can be but there will be an end to V.

Don't worry about not being unendingly cheery or not pushing yourself to help others - It's a bad time for you and you're entitled to some support here too

Absolutely. You will get better, just don't give up and keep reaching out. And you certainly are not a burden. Strike that thought down anytime it tries to discourage you from coming here for support. You are very much loved, appreciated, and missed when you're gone.
I am glad that little v is doing better. And I hope you're recovering quickly from surgery. Take it easy on your first day back at work, please.
Lotsa love your way, V. Xoxo
