Our minds can be our worst enemies! I have xanax for a similar reason, aussie. For when my mind won't shut off or I'm worrying myself into a really uncomfortable place. I take them very rarely. Just be aware of how often, like mark a V on your calendar so you can keep track. Not sure if you can take 1/2 a pill with those, but I do that, too. Our minds are so powerful, sometimes I think just taking 1/2 is enough to convince my mind it's all good. Ya know? Almost like a placebo affect. Anyway..my point is, in regards to the addiction part, just stay vigilant. If you feel like you're leaning on it too much or taking it when you may not really need it, you'll know. We know what addiction feels like! Glad you have something to help you when you need it.

I agree with mirage. I have a very low dose of xanax to take if I awake with a racing mind and it helps. But I take it rarely. Today is day 10 and I had to take it twice since day 1 due to midnight mind racing. I also took it once in the early evening due to extreme anxiety.

Dee, I wont change my name, but if counseling goes south, I will, eventually. I've pretty much put it all out here already over the years, so theres no hiding, unless my existence and posts can be dashed from the SR record, which I doubt. I appreciate your wisdom here.

The valium still remains unopened , I will only take if I am in a bad way.
I had a late call from the cardio yesterday and I now have an appointment for Monday as they had a cancellation. Good , I don't want to keep this dragging out.

Have a great weekend everyone.
Love from Auss.

I have internet at the lake so, I can post from here.
Busy putting things away and doing a little cleaning.
I was around the bond fire last night and everyone was drinking beer
and it didn't bother me. No one was getting carried away and I didn't stay late
and they know I don't drink so, I'm never pressured to drink. anyway --it was
a very nice eve.
Have a good day

Well done staying sober. I sure wouldve liked to drink last night after getting back from moving my son, but glad I didnt. Day 12 today. Going to a ball game with the fam for mothers day. Another drinking venue of the past, but tame enough to do without it.

Happy Mother's Day to all the Mother's here!

Day 12 concluding. It was a good mother's day for DW, and nearly entirely because I didn't drink, and had presence of mind to ensure she had a great time with the whole local family. It's a start!

Good night, all! Thanks for being here!

My mothers day was ok. We went over to my mother in laws and my daughter texted me there. I was disappointed that she couldn't call rather than text me. It's a long story and I'm use to her behavior but she is 45 years old this week and a mother her self. After awhile you just except these things. But, I still had a good day and any day sober is great for me.
Hugs

Glad to hear you guys had a good day. Sorry about your daughter, Babs. That must be so hard. I had a good day, kinda weird. Had breakfast with my mom and dad, mother in law, brother and sil, etc. Nice. Then we went to visit my grandma, who is 99, at her assisted living place and it was kinda awful. She just says how mad she is to be there, that her sons abandoned her there, how horrible it is (it isn't, it's a VERY nice place), how no one loves her, etc. It was really difficult and uncomfortable and sad. She won't smile, she just acts really ticked off. I don't know how much of that is her brain going or how much is actually genuine feelings. Like, I'm not sure how "sharp" she is. With some things, she's great (talking about her Rosie the Riveter days, etc.) and then sometimes she seems confused. I do think she thought she would live with one of her sons when she got old, but THEY'RE old! lol My 78 year old parents can't take care of her. Anyway..I don't want to debate that. It was just a sad visit, I think my boys were a little shaken up. So after that, we went straight to the movies to see the new Captain America movie to get in a better mood. It was really good, we all enjoyed it. For dinner, my dh grilled chicken and veggies (my favorite) and they cleaned up without me even helping. haha. It was a good day.

Today, we let our boys play hookie and dh took them out fishing. Life is short, they grow up fast. (They're 14 and 17.) They're good students and deserve it. I like that they're having a fun morning together.

Had a drinking/driving dream last night. I hate those.

Have a good, sober day, friends! xx

ohhh Mirage that sounds almost like a perfect day except for Grandma---They do get confused. I don't have either of my parents anymore just my one and only sister who lives 4 hours from me. so, we do talk every day. and that sure does help. She is my sounding board and she very seldom drinks and apparently didn't inherit this
awful disease.
