This is my danger time. Dinner done, kids gone, sun is setting.
Glass of iced tea on the porch. Maybe a long soak is in order.
I am glad I'm sober. I'm where I need to be. Off to find something to occupy my mind.

Hugs

Well I made it through the day, I cooked all day; which is a big trigger, then I went fishing which is also a trigger- I got a pumpkin spice latte instead.
Now this evening I'll study and have a bath.

Just checking in.... doing fine! Weekend is going well. Time spent at home with the kids which was much needed. I'm sorry this is so boring, but I guess boring is better than crappy alcohol related drama Stay strong everyone!

Hi - Sounds like a lot of us are having some struggles today. I know I am struggling, but I made it through the day. I had some things to do today as part of my plan, but had barely enough initiative to get out of my chair. Hope I can get out of my funk soon - like tomorrow. Day 20 coming to a close. Whew!

Saturday's can be tough all. Was always my day to drink all day loooooong. Was a love hate relationship really. I committed to no drinking today so I was all set there, but I did reminisce about it a bit. Was tested in lots of ways with the children too.

It's all good right now. Prolly hit the sack soon.

Nice work Jsbodhi. It's amazing what you can do if you put your mind to it.

Now I can relax and gaze at the full moon tonight without any worries. Looking forward to the Super Moon tomorrow. 8)

Sunday and I've just had a healthy lunch after coming back from the gym.

Sunday is generally a non-drinking day for me; mainly due to my Saturday excesses and the looming long week of work ahead. This means that my cravings are basically nonexistent.

Since last night I've swung from having a whiny "woe is me" persona to a positive "I'm on the top of the world" persona. I just feel so different and good again.

Hi everyone, so just checking in day 5, thank you for all your words of encouragement. Wow its taking some reading going through every ones posts from 5 days ago! Im not allowed my laptop much being in rehab, only occasionally to check up on my business emails etc, which was a special arrangement! That aside my insomnia is sooooooo terrible the lovely tech has let me have it at 0430 to shut me up coz I was climbing the walls. I'm detoxing from lots of opiates plus alcohol so excuse me if I am not too with it - meaning flicking inbtw screens to try and remember who said what is certainly beyond my management - but I was laughing (in a nice - I so get you way) at the woman who said something about dying her roots, I literally had such a fit at my husband on phone yesterday about bringing me in hair dye, threatening to discharge myself and go hairdresser!! lol! He was like "I think you have bigger things to think about???" In all seriousness things going OK, miss the kids, still feel like utter s**t but this place is like a palace and I am mindful of what its costing us and there are bl**dy worse places I can be, so I need to be grateful and embrace it this time. This is likeTime 6 - the last times have always been doing it alone, il beat the 30 /40 days or whatever it was! Never done rehab detox before so it has to work. Its now 530 am UK time - apparently we are getting full English brekky this morning coz its Sunday! Id be worried about getting fat all this food im eating but I think im de-bloating from the booze and now im not on a zillion opiates I can go bathroom (LOL) so lets not worry bout food!!
Forabetterlife thanks for your welcome and comments earlier in week, I relate to a lot of your posts!
Startingover02 your posts resonate with me so much (maybe it was u with the hair dye!!??) but I admire you going out to eat, all my attempts at getting sober its been going out for dinner (date night) going on holiday or weekend trips or business lunches that have caused me to relapse. Tho we never split a bottle of wine, he had a glass (driving) and id have the rest of bottle plus a second, then brandy of course ...never coffee! I always found the coffee bit of dinner a weird concept unless it was an Irish Coffee! Oh and all that on top of all my pills ...eeeeek ... no wonder im in rehab this time! Cranberry & lemonade sounds good, il keep that in mind for when I go home!! Thank you! Well best go. Wishing everyone a sober Sunday, I will be a good girl, read, embrace group, - dye my roots hopefully!! Some nut suggested I use the gym, I can barely lift me painful legs and blow my nose every five minutes! So yeah right - like that's happening! Peace and reading I think! Blessings to everyone xx

Just found this quote online;

"The first step toward success is taken when you refuse to be a captive of the environment in which you first find yourself." -Mark Caine

Pretty apt ; )

Oh today has been the hardest day!

I'll go back and catch up in a second but Lord, I nearly caved so many times.

It's been such a full on day, you'd think I wouldn't have time to think about it, but the ex went to the shop and parked right outside the bottle shop (I was sat waiting with the kids in the car). He asked me beforehand if I wanted anything and I was itching to tell him yes, get me a bottle. I said no thanks, told him I was trying so bloody hard to not give in. He said 'you've made it 2 weeks, you can easily have one tonight and just go the next 2 weeks without, your liver starts repairing itself the day you stop drinking, it will be back to normal now probably.'

I know right, how supportive of him.
I told him no thanks and off he went.

I was fighting with myself in my head, I want it, no you don't, no but I really do, well you cant, I'll just have this one bottle, it's gonna taste so good, yeah and you'll be so disappointed in yourself tomorrow having to start from day 1 again....
I was both willing him to come out with a bottle and praying he wouldn't.

I saw him walking over to the car and his hands were empty, (he'd just gone in for smokes) I almost cried with relief.

The minute we got home I wished he'd bought me a bottle. I just wanted it. It was completely irrational but I just did.

45 minutes until bedtime for the kids and I'm trying to hang out for the 'lovely' cup of tea. I can't sit still, keep fidgeting, can't stop thinking about it.

I'm not going to give in. I won't. I'm realizing just what a stubborn thing I am haha

Roll on bedtime.....argh!

Oh and also, 2 weeks sober today!!

fruitmarzipan - I was up at 4 too. It's now 8.15 and I have done the ironing, caught up on a GOT episode before the boys woke up, showered and waiting for my food shop to arrive. Feels like lunchtime already and I will be tired later but I'm feeling good today. I hope you start to feel better soon. I guess being in rehab gives you plenty of time to think.

forabetterlife - well done for finding a distraction. A massive trigger for me is to be in the house alone overnight. It wouldn't be too bad if I would just drink at the night time but I get so drunk I don't know what I'm doing and often wake in the early hours and carry on which then leads into the next day and sometimes that will then lead to days. Even if I did just drink at the night time I could go from sober to blotto in 2 hours and then would spend the next day ill if not a few days, so for those 2 hours I would spend much longer suffering. Looking at it objectively it's not worth it but on the rare occasion I do get the night to myself it's hard to see it to the end because the lure of getting drunk on my own with no one around is very tempting.

Shopping is here. Happy sober Sunday everyone
