Holly is going to Darwin next week and Shaun will be working .
I got a phone call from my dear friend who is one of those best friends you want and need to have in your life.

We may not see each other a lot as our lives are very different , but when we do it's like we caught up from yesterday. She's the kind of friend who rings you at the same time as you are ringing her , yet you haven't spoken in 6 months lol.

We have done that so many times. Well divine entervention or not , she rang to see if I wanted to spend some time with her next week. There will be lots of greyhounds to feed , exercise & train . Lots of ex racing dogs as pets on the property , birds , bonfires at night , I think I may just do this ️xxx

Snooz, I think that lemon meringue got me through my last relapse! I'm not even joking! So sickly sweet and filling.

The pastry is yummy....well, all of it is!

Ok, long day for me, beddy byes.

Snooze the cheesecake sounds awesome as does the place with the greyhounds & birds

Dotty is still with us if no one gets in touch were going to take her to the vet to see if she's chipped finally if that doesn't work we will put posters up but its going to be a weird poster & I worry by postering we might get duped ?

itl read something along the lines of 'have you lost a dog ring this number & give a description of your dog' ?

Dotty is trusting us more we popped into sainsburys got some bacon bread rolls & some dog food for her which she's eaten we bought 3 lil square foil foodpacks that had a pic of a similar dog, we tried giving her some of glens treats but she doesn't want any

Glen is being 99.9% perfect behaviour he is getting heavily treated for his behaviour after this, im so chuffed with glens coming of age he doesn't chase pigeons anymore & he's being really well behaved

I've been woken up by Dotty many times last night at 4am I had to get the lil madam from downstairs I'm going for a siesta I'm so tired

Went well at Dr's this morning

You would think that if the owners were that worried , they would be the ones putting posters up like we did when Jack did his Houdini& escaped.

I think she's found a perfect home , I bet Glen will love the company. Secretly , I'm hoping she stays with you cos she'll have the best home for life xx

You're a good person Wolfy , you really are

Hi gang. Snoozy, that must have been very shocking what happened with that patient. I hope he's ok. You sound as if you're coping and doing well. I think a visit with your dear friend sounds like a lovely idea. I'm feeling more and more that having good friends and keeping in touch is what sustains us in life and in sobriety.
For so long after Larry died, I've been holing up alone with booze, isolating, feeling I didn't want, nor need anyone. Wow, what rubbish! Like Barbra Streisand says, "people who need people are the luckiest people..."!
I'm so fortunate that my friends haven't given up in me!
I did a bit of a clear out of "stuff" in the basement on the weekend, so I'm bringing a lot of it to a charity shop this morning. I rediscovered a mini cassette that I recorded Larry reciting one of our favourite poems, just a few weeks before he died. I played it on an ancient phone answering machine device. Bittersweet.
Any techies out there who might know how I could get the mini cassette "changed" into a cd or something more permanent/sturdy? Those wee mini cassettes have a tendency to break/unravel and I'd hate to lose my sweet Larry's voice.

Awwww Leshar , what a beautiful thing to find Larrys voice must've sounded like heaven to you , but I totally get the bittersweet aspect.

Aaaah maybe it's a sign :-)

You're not holing up and isolating anymore , you're getting out and about again and I'm really proud of you.

They can do anything with virtually anything these days. I'm sure if you make a few phone calls to a computer geek ( tech ) they will be able to sort out the tape conversion to wherever
Xxx

Oh Leshar, what a find in the midst of your cleanup. I had this thought, like you were meant to find it and it was Larrys voice encouraging you on through your cleanup. Hugs - I bet it was a hard, but wonderful, moment.

I also think you are very right about friends and isolating. Just in the past week or two, I really had a great epiphany about this, that I really let a lot of friends or colleagues slip away with no effort to keep in touch. It is one of my goals moving forward to make the effort and have richer relationships. Towards the end, all I wanted to do was get home and drink, so there's lots of work to do on the connecting and reconnecting front and I feel my sobriety is strong enough to take it now.

Snooz, just do what you can to get through this early bit! .I've now cut out most sugar completely., but it did help in the crazy first few months.

Wolfy...I feel sad no one has tried to claim the dog. But Snooz and Leshar are right, she couldn't be in better hands. Make sure if you do put a sign up that someone has to prove they own her if they answer it. Like produce photos of her or something.

Its a very easy process if you have the equipment Leshar.

You could even do it yourself if you're up for a challenge

if you have more tapes this or something like it might be worth it (assuming it does micro cassettes)

of course somewhere in Toronto you'll find someone

I'm so glad you found that

I can relate good days and bad. Went into Monday with positive vibes but i felt anxious and depressed at work. Nothing overly stressful but people dont listen or do the right thing. Its been driving me crazy. The customer is always right even when they are not. I really want a drink and a smoke.

Its a great day to think about minfulness and living in the moment. In reality nothjng major or drastic has occured. I am grateful for an ok day. Nothing that happen would be improve by drinking or smoking. The weather was amazing.

I am a little high strung about the wedding. I feel that i will not fun have unless i drink which is bs. I did many events last year and i was fine. Its just about doing the right thing. I really dont want to go out later with drunk people but i feel required to go to the adter party/bar. I have a hotel room to escape to. I also dont want to be a social downer. It will take time and i will stay as long as i feel comfortable.

Definitely over analyzing things because my brain appears to be working. It will take time to learn how to harness this new energry.
I will probably repost this in a few spots also.

Hope you all are feeling better!

Hiya all . Letitgo , I can remember feeling like that once. What is the actual required time we should stay at a wedding without being offensive?

It's simple ...NONE . ..I wish I knew in my 20s what I know at 53. I was always hanging around hating it cos I didn't drink and everyone was getting drunker .
Then after a while it dawned on me that people don't really care.

As long as you are in the drinking group , they will stay til the cows come home.

If you've had enough and are bored to death , just pop up to the bride & groom & say , I loved your wedding. You look beautiful , I have to go. It's as simple as that.

Personally I just HATE weddings , I don't know why , I always have and always will.
I just find them utterly boring .

I'm sure I'll feel much different when it's my own kids , but I don't see that happening anytime soon lol xxx
