Up and atom.

Midton...WTG!!
I may have posted this before, but I grew up in Maine. Beautiful state. Gotta be there for the colors in fall. Absolutely breathtaking.

SG...better you than me. I feel for ya. I'm not a morning person at all. Neither of us are. In fact, I wonder how many alcoholics are?

Had a nice night with my son. Chilled watching Stephen King's "The Stand" TV mini series. My favorite book of all time. Was aired in 1994, so you can only find it on DVD or streaming. It's amazing how many good actors and familiar faces were in it.

Have a great sober day!

WTG Midton! I thought the first month was the hardest.

Have a great weekend everyone! Done an hour's swimming practise. I'm still pretty useless but I am better than when I did none because I was drinking, so I count my current standard as a mild success not a failure

None for me today. I prefer being sober, not having hangovers, no anxiety, more money, healthier, being present, sleeping better. Err, yes, none for me today.

!
I was there in 1993 I think. Can't remember the name of the nearest town, maybe Waterford. The camp was on the Belgrade Lake(s). I'm pretty sure the town sadly made the news with a mass shooting some years later, possibly in a church.

I loved my summer there especially my trips to Portland and Freeport. We also climbed the highest mountain ( or at least one of them). It had an Indian name. Lastly I sang my first ever karaoke there.

Sounds great. Waterford not too far from my home town. My mom lives in Portland now. Freeport is sweet too. Of course LLbeans rocks.

Mt Katadin. I never hiked it. My mom has a few times. Stunning photos. You gotta hike forever just to get to it too. Wish I had. Mirror lake is at the bottom of it. It reflects the mountain in it's still waters. Very picturesque. I believe it's the most photographed? Maybe the mountain is?

Portland Head Light is the most photographed light house. I have some pics in my phone in fact from my last visit home

Congratulations Midton!!

I'm having a nice Saturday. I have audible.com and a new credit so I'm trying to decide on what will be my next book to listen to. I love to read/listen to audio-books so this is always a fun thing to do. Feeling peaceful and enjoying the cooler temp.. Looking forward to picking up my son tomorrow but he's having fun with his dad today. Hope everyone is having a great weekend!!

Also, I sure do hope Lily123 is doing ok. Miss her!

That's awesome Midton! The first month is definitely the most difficult. Congrats!

Evening, All. Midton, congratulations on four weeks! A very big accomplishment - you should be proud of your dedication to sobriety. Keep it up!

I'm doing well; some ups and downs but I think it is just related to the stress of traveling. Enjoying time with my sister and haven't heard much more than a peep from the AV. When I did, my response was "I can't drink on the meds," and that shut it up. I'm very grateful to feel comfortable and happy with my choice to be sober.

I hope you all are well. Thank you for being here.

Hey guys! Sunday morning here! Had quite a physical day yesterday. A 14km run in the morning and yard work for most of the afternoon.

I was surprised by AV trying to convince me that I'd earned a beer/wine with dinner. I really felt like it and had to run through my reasons why that was not a good idea two or three times to get a handle on it! Just shows that there's no home and dry here. I'd been really good for nearly two weeks with no worries about drinking at all. Anyway, of course, REALLY pleased I didn't drink. In honesty, I don't think I was in real danger of drinking but flirting with the idea is dangerous in its own right, I guess... Anyway, hot it out of my head in the end

Hope you are all well. All the best for a sober Sunday. Any news on Lilly or Zab?

Good deal guys. Glad all is well for ya!

Today I am going into my house I'll be losing soon. I'm gonna spend the day getting ready to load up two garages work of crap. One enter garage is a wood shop, the other is mostly lawn equipment.

It'll be an emotionally draining day. The wood shop was my hide out spot when I was married. Popped pills, smoked stuff, and drank a lot in there. I'll be in the belly of the beast in a way. Being in the wood shop doesn't give me urges. It makes me want to cry and my head fills with"If only," or "why?"

This is my music for Amp. I'm going to be selling everything. I need money and I don't have any interest in working with wood anymore. I worry that I may snap out of it one day and be left without tools. But I've got to make a decision and move on with it. It's been 3years since I left my family. If i don't have any interest now, I doubt I ever will.

That sounds pretty tough, Inc. For me my place of refuge when I was drinking was the world of music and for you it was your woodwork. Perhaps an initial negative reaction is inevitable as those refuges have strong connotations right now. It doesn't mean they always will but in the future you can pick up new tools if you want to. If I ever got involved in music again I would want it to be really different so maybe new gear would be what I'd want anyway. Not too many memories. Clean sheet. New chapter.

Maybe this could be the beginning of something new for you? Hope so

Yup. I'm surprised at my indifference about it. I'm really moving past the issue. I'm pleasantly surprised with my eagerness to let it all go.

I posted on Craigslist today. Everything must go. Made a quick $100 off done dude and striking a deal with somebody who might buy the rest. We'll see. Crossing my fingers.

It's so true amp, the AV is always lurking looking for an opening. Sometimes weeks can go by without a peep then suddenly WHAMO!
Great job recognizing the AV and staying strong!

My basement was a hangout place for me, as I ended setting up an unintentional mini bar down there for my time spent doing laundry etc. Then upstairs by a computer became a hangout. Eventually, any spot in the house or yard became my "hideout" spot, as I always had a can of diet coke filled with rum glued to my hand.

I just look at these memories as snapshots in time, and am not judgmental about them. They are just pictures frozen in time mentally. Time to make new memories!

Hey Inc, good for you for taking the initiative and cleaning out your garages. That must be very hard. You are definitely making room for growth in your new sober life. Onward and upward!

I am doing okay. Very up and down. Lots feelings of loneliness and isolation even when I was with my sister. But also some happy thoughts of feeling exploratory and happy to be on vacation. I'm on the train now to NYC and almost started crying twice while boarding. I'm seated now and feeling more stable. Trying to focus on the fun exploring I get to do. The upside of all this is I don't want to drink.

I hope you all have a good start to the week.
