Key of C - We cross-posted. It sounds like a beautiful ride.

I can learn a lot from your faith and I really appreciate when you share it. I don't have the faith required to fully let go and let my HP take the wheel, but I'm at a point where I understand how freeing it would be.

Have a safe trip home.

And Angie - I didn't forget about you!

There really IS something to getting out of the house, if only to run to the Dollar Store to pick up a couple of items- just breaking out of that isolation can turn my day around.

I'm doing okay right now. Hanging in there at 144 days sober. Grateful for SR and all of you. Have a great weekend.
I'm always saying I'd love to make soup--maybe this will be the year... I'm a big Disney fanatic and on those forums there's been a lot of mention of a potato soup on main street--next time I'll have to try it :-).

It actually rained here !--first time in months.
We had a really dry winter as well and the fires have been bad around here--nothing too close but the air quality has been horrid.

Maybe the person just wasn't in the right place to help you right now. that's kind of where I am with my daughter right now--it seems cruel but I know that where I am right now --I can't help her.

Day 136 here. Woke up late and wanted to make a noon AA meeting so didn't have time to check in here earlier. Meeting was awesome. I don't make this Sunday noon meeting very often but I should. It seems to be the "veterans" meeting at my home group. 90% of the folks in there have five or ten or more years sober. I think they all head there after going to church on Sunday morning.

Have to work in a couple of hours. Feeling better today so far. Time to jump in the shower.

Thanks again to everyone for all the help yesterday. I'm taking yesterday as a wake up call and making some changes in my recovery plan, need to get more active again.

Pretty good day

I guess hearing all your stories it made me more mindful of the good things of the day today. Had a pretty good day at work, had some very positive feedback on my work and actually forced myself to take a break -- in my 30 or so years of working I've never been a big fan of the break but I've realized that in my recovery with the fatigue being what it is I Need to. Got home and took a nap, no one was home for an hour or so after that and the house was nice and quiet. Started making dinner even though I was really hungry and wanted to just heat up some leftovers and spent some time just sitting in the backyard. Just sitting, hanging out with the cats-- very strange for me but very nice. Then the emmy's were on and I hung out on these boards during commercials and boring stuff lol. I think I really need to start thinking about more resting until I'm recovered, both physically and mentally-- slow down some. It's hard for me but seems to be worth it. Now I'm gonna go get my vitamins together and watch Fear the Dead! :-)

Good morning everyone.I had a rough day at work yesterday. They tried to pile a bunch of stuff on me and then things stopped working so I was in panic mode trying to reboot the computer system at work. The stress level was through the roof. I think I'm going to talk to the boss today about making changes and see if that goes anywhere. I'm getting ready to go for a walk this morning before I go to work.

The good thing is that I have no urges to drink over this. I will stay vigilant of course but so far so good.

Wayward hope your work situation improves and they take your suggestions!

Good morning undies. I got a call last night from my mom. Long story but my 90yr old grandpa has this girlfriend he's had for about 15yrs and now that he's health has majorly declined we found out she shipped him off to an assisted living behind our back last week and is out looking at million dollar homes trying to cash in on his money since her name is on the bank accounts as well. She also tried forcing him to marry her the other weekend we just found out. So my mom wants me to go to LA today to help my grandpa and set this crazy lady straight before she drains him of tons of money.

I've been so mentally exhausted this is the last thing I need but when it comes to family I always help out so I may end up in LA later today not sure tho.

Looking forward to having tomorrow off!

Blue, I find it helps me to focus on gratitude for the good things in my life :-)

Wayward, sorry you had a rough day! Great that you didn't have any urges to drink. It's often when things quiet down after stress that many of us have a tendency to relapse. Mindfulness is critical.

BF, so sorry to hear about the situation with your grandpa. Is your mother unable to go? It seems to me like a lot to ask of you to take this on.

BF, my best with your assistance in what looks like some nasty business. Getting sober sure doesn't make problems disappear...just offers a much clearer head to confront them with. No matter what evolves, it is not a good enough reason to drink. You've got this!

Starting day 137 here.

Going to a noon AA meeting in a bit.

Today is my last night working. I talked to my boss yesterday and am moving to daytime shifts Monday thru Friday starting tomorrow. I think this will be a big help to my recovery and general sanity. That is one part of the changes to my recovery plan that I was talking about yesterday.

Hope all are well here. Thanks again for helping me get through Saturday evening. This group and the July 2013 group are amazing. Grateful to wake up sober this morning.

Hi Undies

BlueFairy - When I first got sober it was such a relief to slow down. I just needed to rest for a little while. I think self care is an important part of recovery, after all those years of mistreating my mind, body and soul.

WWS - Great idea to reach out to your supervisor for support. There may not be anything s/he can do to prevent this from happening again, but you can definitely come up with a plan so that the work is evenly distributed.

BoozeFree - I can't begin to imagine the hurt, betrayal, and fear you and your mom are experiencing over your grandpa's girlfriend's recent actions. I know you have a heart of gold and will make sure that he's safe and secure.

Big stressors can set off a chain reaction of events that ever so slowly but surely undermine sobriety. For me it's been imperative to have a program in place to guide me and sober people to point me back in the right direction.

Casey - I think it's inspiring to see your choices align with your sobriety. That's recovery in action.
No "yeah buts" -- as in, "YEAH, I should work days because it's better for my mind/body/soul, BUT I prefer to work nights." It circles back to self care. Thank you for sharing!

KeyofC, Inc, Carlos, Drake - Hi!!!!!

I've been doing pretty well. I'm struggling a bit to lose weight. The key for me is to not allow it to allow that frustration to turn into an all consuming concern. As another alcoholic kindly reminded me as I was stressing over it, it's not like I'm dealing with alcohol here. She's right. I'll get there in due time. Gratitude, which helps me so much with alcoholism, really helps me put this diet frustration into perspective too. I keep an ongoing list on the gratitude board.

Be well Undies!!

Hi SR family. With out you all, I was doomed...

Hi Casey...good job chatting w the boss...I'm sure the day shift will help...it is awesome being able to walk into the boss.s office confident we don't reek of booze......look him in the eye....good morning sir....nice!

Checking in.

Sober and tired. Tired from the gym. Almost 2 hours yesterday. Jogging, wind sprints...blah...blah.

I was reminded there are people with debilitating depression and anxiety posting here. I'm not helping them w my rants of perceived success. I am sorry to those people.

I am so ooooh blessed...lucky...I consider every day a gift. I struggle every day w my anxiety. But, I am practicing. I am beating the depression and anxiety w your help.

This is therapy. AA is therapy......on that note...

The last meeting I went to...56 people...4 minutes to talk...it was crazy...I never talk...I talk here...n e way...they were fighting to talk...3 people at a time...I'm. ...I'm an alcoholic. ...

Not going back to that one....too many people...

The meanest looking, most hungover looking guy in the meeting...started crying..it was awkward. ..so sad...this alcohol thing is a monster....

Get to sleep in till 6 am tomorrow...thank God...and I have Wed. Off work.

That is all...for now...
