Hey. Casey,

Just checked in at 2am here and saw your posts.

Sounds like this is a 'what' moment as in " no matter what".

Hope your meeting helped. Stay well my friend

So a meeting is not in the cards. I don't have a car so have to ride my bicycle to meetings. It's about a 2.5-mile ride, no big deal normally. Got about seven blocks from home and the skies opened up and it just started pouring down rain. I'm thoroughly wet but back home safe.

Thanks again for the replies. I'll be sticking close tonight.

CaseyW, you are my inspiration for "no matter what". You will be so upset if you drink. Any ice cream in the house?

I won't drink. But these were the strongest cravings/thoughts I've had in at least a couple of months, maybe since I started back here this time. They're past now. Thanks again everyone.

Casey - I have a hard time asking for help too. In fact the reason I didn't have a sponsor for so long is because I was afraid to approach anyone after overhearing someone get rejected when they asked someone to be their sponsor.

I used to think people who needed people were weak. In sobriety I've learned just how much courage it takes to reach out. I've recognized just how defensive I really am, how tall the walls are around me.

I think it's wonderful that you recognized where your craving stemmed from, and then came up with a plan of how to deal with it. It's too bad that an AA meeting didn't work out tonight, but you'll get to one when you can. Keep close.

Casey, I'm glad the cravings have past. We are here for you always. Sending prayers and good thoughts your way.

I've had kind of a lazy day. Went to bed around 1:00am but it was a good, restful sleep until Elvis, my cat decided it was snuggle time around 5am. LOL

Went to the dollar tree and got a few Arizona Tea's plus another toy for Elvis and it got me out of the house. I was browsing around on Netflix. Started to watch "How to get away with murder." It seems pretty interesting so far.

No real cravings today which has been nice.

Casey glad you reached out here and got thru your cravings. That's awesome. I too have an extremely hard time reaching out asking for any type of help which I believe largely contributes to my past relapses. Sorry to hear you didn't get help when you tried asking, I know it must have taken a lot of courage to even ask. Enjoy the chocolates!!

I survived womp land thank god! So glad it's over and I get a day off tomorrow. The mental exhaustion is wearing me down. My employee didn't show up this morning so I had to do double the work in 30mins before the first appt arrived. I wasn't too happy but got everything done in time. He showed up later claiming he slept thru the 3 alarms he had set.

Hey Casey, it's strange sometimes in recovery, at least in my experience. Pretty big stuff can happen but it's like you prepare yourself mentally for it and then it's hard but you get through it. Often it's the "small" things that appear to come out of nowhere that prove to be the sternest tests. I remember not long ago coming back from a funeral which I handled really well only to have a difficult phone conversation with my mother, leading to some really tough cravings over the following couple of days. I think that early recovery is something of a rollercoaster and you never know where the next highs and lows are coming from.

It was interesting for me to hear that, for SW, this kind of stuff began to level out at 5 months. I make 5 months today as does Inc (who shares my sober birthday) so congratulations to him and onward and upward. There is an up for every down so it's just a question of riding out the lows! Only you decide about that first drink!

Have a great Sunday everyone!!

Casey, way to go! You reached out here, got support and didn't drink. It doesn't get any better than that
I agree with what others have said. It's tough enough reaching out for help and then feeling rejected is the pits. You overcame and will be stronger for it. You tried a different way of dealing with cravings and that is a huge step on the road to living a good, solidly sober life.

Amp and Inc, congrats on your milestones!

Everyone, I am so impressed to see the incredible outpouring of support for one of our own! SR is a truly very special group of people.

Amp and Inc~~congrats on your big 5!! ((Big ol hug))!!
Glee you always have the right things to offer that keep my head going the right direction and I completely associate to the HP. I am thinking since I decided to ride "shotgun" and let the HP take the wheel he is granting me some peace. I am learning it's ok for me to not control everything. It has been the hardest lesson to quit manipulating everyone and everything to get what I want which used to be the drink. It's been hard to learn to just let things happen and just "be". Thank you for your insight! ((Hug))

Casey! So proud you came here and hashed it out! You always give me inspiration too! Good for you! (High five!)

We made it back to Ky safe n sound. Takes longer coming back cause we are loaded with cedar logs. Heavy! Going through the gorge in NC up hill and slow pulling. I gazed at the gorge the whole way there Friday. It is beautiful! Looks like God took those humongous rocks and placed them one by one, just amazing!
Hope everybody has a trouble free Sunday! I'll check in later! ((Hug))!!

Inc - Way to go on 5 months sober!! I appreciate your thoughtful contributions to this group.

Amp - Congratulations on 5 months sober, too. I've been fortunate to watch you grow stronger with each bump and turn on your road.

BoozeFree - I did not develop courage overnight. I just keep trying to take small steps toward the direction where I want to grow. Your therapist may be a great resource for monitoring your growth.

Casey - I'm glad you found some comfort and camaraderie in these forums when you needed it most! Getting support is almost as wonderful as giving it.

Enjoy the day Undies!!
