IP - Happy Birthday!! You've got a lot of good things going on in your life, and great plans for the upcoming year. I don't know that anyone ever has life figured out. I suppose that's where faith comes in, to trust that everything will work out as it ought to.

Saskia - Have a fun trip and a wonderful time visiting your daughter and your friend.

Toots - I try to like tea, but I just can't. I'll drink flavored teas when I have a cold, but like you I just prefer strong dark .... coffee. (Get your minds out of the gutter, people! )

Mags - Mmmmm, cardamon flavored tea...

I'm relaxing tonight after a busy Monday. Learning to relax without booze is such a gift!

I saw someone yesterday I haven't seen since we partied together during my last drunk. The way I behaved then is the furthest thing from my mind these days, yet is the bedrock upon which my life in recovery has been built. It was a nice reminder of how far I've come.

Itch, sorry to hear about your FIL. Glad that cooler heads prevailed. So happy that my Mom didn't fight the move to assisted living and that my brother has power of attorney over all her money matters.

I went ahead and made an appointment with the oral surgeon to have my tooth pulled next week. They want a referral from my dentist, however I don't exactly have one (although I do have the x-ray of my tooth). I'm scheduled for a cleaning in a couple of weeks, so will call my dentist today and try to get that bumped up to this week. I'll then tell him of my decision and hopefully he'll give me the referral (although he's really pushing the root canal option). Otherwise, I may just cancel that appointment as I have too many irons in the fire late next week and don't need to worry about this tooth business.

Have a great Tuesday, overs!

Greets all Overs!

Itchy: That was quite an episode and I hope all works out for your FIL. If I were the buyer, I would not have gone through with it. Not that I am so noble, but the "too good to be true" syndrome would take over.

Good luck with the tooth FBL. I need some work too. I am 58 and have my teeth longer than anyone in my immediate family. All had dentures in their 40's and 50's. I hesitate to do much due to cost as I do not have dental insurance.

I am mostly a coffee drinker, but occasionally enjoy some tea. Never with sugar, but a drop or two of cream.

Weather has gotten cool here. The garden is not producing much anymore and that is fine. I did much better this year than in the past when we had two years of hot and dry. A rain shower this AM, Autumn is upon us.

All from here HRH Olive is snoring away. Wish I could join her!

Okay...bumped my regular dental cleaning up to next Monday and cancelled my extraction appointment for now. Will have a talk with my regular dentist about root canal vs. extraction...I'm sure he'll push for the root canal (more bucks for him as he'll do the crown), so am prepared to stand my ground on getting it yanked...that's the TOOTH, the whole TOOTH and nothing but the TOOTH

Thanks guys!

FBL,
Triple entendre! That was punny as hell! Thanks I needed a laugh.

I wish we could have talked him into signing a power of attorney, or can yet, before he cannot make decisions for himself.

Got the generator installed today, plumbers tomorrow, then the gas company to turn it back on, and finally getting the cable company to move the cable back to the house from the RV. Then we can move in as it will be finished except for the punch out touch ups. For some reason I feel like I have done something wrong and I know I haven't. I guess too much, too fast, too crazy and too wonderful, too sad. Man I am glad I don't drink to add to the list of extremes of good and bad here lately. I am juggling and can only keep all the balls in the air sober.

it's so sad to see the brain or body have problems, like itchys' fil. My husbands uncle has altzeimers and is now in a home, his wife is in her 90's and couldn't take care of him.

We seem to be seeing a lot of altzeimers and dementia about these days. I wonder what causes it? The brain is such a oowerful thing that we , as humans, don't understand fully. My husbands uncle was a very intelligent man, kept his mind busy, so it doesn't figure how he got this illness. I guess we all wonder how it happens. Perhaps if they find a cause we may get a cure.

I was told yesterday that a work colleague, who moved to another department, so I don't see him daily, is off work sick. He has a brain tumour and waiting for a MRI scan to see if there's anything they can do. He's only in his 30's.

I know it's life and these things happen, but it sometimes makes you wonder. We come all this way through life, ups and downs, and the likes of us have seen many downs, and survived! I'm over thinking this, aren't I.

Itch - I couldn't agree with you more, that life is best lived sober.

Mags - I think this is where faith comes into play. I've seen people fall into major depressions over the challenges life has dealt them. They are some of the most treacherous I know to spend time with. I've also seen people of faith find joy and happiness alongside their challenges. They inspire the people around them.

None of us know what challenges will befall us and it seems that people find peace in aligning with the cards they're dealt, their higher powers' will, instead of being angry about it.
