That storm sounds crazy. We had a bad El Niņo in 1998 that caused a lot of damage. Word is we are going to have another one this winter. We are ready though, we just want the rain!

I'm so glad it's Friday. My daughter and I will be building a fort tonight and camping out in it together. She's super excited. She seems to be doing better the past couple days since I've been giving her tons of attention. I'm actually hoping my husband will watch her this evening so I can take a walk. I could use a little time to myself!

Exciting dinner of tuna on wasa bread and a simple salad in my future. It's okay, though, because earlier a coworker shared a chocolate bar with me. It was dark chocolate filled with ganache and bacon. Yeah, bacon. It was delicious!

Sounds good Briar. Love me a good fort! My son and I tend to build them often in the family room. Mostly pillows and blankets. Gotta have a nice flashlight once inside. Enjoy.

My nieces and nephews and my children make grand blanket forts in the basement playroom of our hosts'! Those drop ceiling tiles are awesome for tucking blanket corners! We have a solid ceiling at home in our basement.

That storm took out many trees on our street here , arbor. It was severe and historical.

Kids are so booked up with soccer, but I really hope to get apple picking. Hopefully we can find a way. We live close to many orchards.

Forts rock indeed! We use six chairs, line up three on either side, put a blanket over the top and secure it with books on the seats of the chairs. Then we stuff pillows under the chairs to block out the light (and to give the cat some nooks to snooze in). We put an air mattress on the floor inside, and we're good to go!

The ceiling tiles idea is brilliant!

The forts of my youth involved the dining chairs too Briar.....and a bowl of fruit loops or captain crunch. What great memories y'all are making with your kids. It's so important, and so many opportunities are there when drinking isn't our priority.

So a happy Saturday morning to the gang. No big plan here....apple picking sounds fun, but no orchards nearby. I quite like this whole harvest time of year....I'm giving some thought to making some raised bed areas in the back yard for a bit of gardening.....a bit of research yet to be done on that.

A bit of reminiscing takes my mind far and away to the early 70s. I come from a rural agricultural background and the arrival of cooler weather was referred to as hog killin' weather. My dad's mom followed that tradition and I remember 'helping' her in the smoke house where the pork would hang to cure. It smelled so good, but was a little scary with the eyes burning a bit and seeing those carcasses hanging. I'm sure I was in the way, but I was convinced by her that she couldn't possibly get it all done without my expert help (and the family would surely be at risk of hunger). To this day the arrival of cooler weather beckons me to pull out my little smoker and indulge in the good memories.

That was long ago and a different time, but I knew I was loved and cherished by her. It's powerful stuff. Embracing sobriety is ultimately a personal thing, but oh the difference it makes in our emotional availability to the little ones. So a big pat on the back and hugs to everyone. Take a moment to feel good about yourselves today......then go build a fort!

A little more coffee then gym time for me. Wishing each of you the best day.

In honor of what you've written here today Mark I'm slow cooking baby back ribs in my cast iron Dutch oven. Got some nostalgic fall weather music on all the while. Fresh corn on the cob and a nice salad to go with. Should be done in about three hours!

Popeye! Welcome back! A few of us, myself included, have had to start over during the past year, but this group is always home. Stick around!

Venus is sick, but hopefully will be back soon.

Arbor - thinking about drinking? It's just your brain kicking out random messages from the addictive part. You don't have to act on them. Did you ever watch pleasure unwoven? You should, it helps explain all that.

Have some food and maybe a soda or tea or something. I find that sugar helps. You're doing great.

Definitely have something to eat, Arbor. There's that HALT (hungry, angry, lonely, tired) thing we shouldn't ignore.

Thoughts are just that; we don't have to act on them.

After you have had something to eat, maybe do something to occupy your mind (crossword puzzle or something in which you can become absorbed) - not easy with two children, I know.
