Good morning everyone. Day 15.

I did not sleep well and woke up with a headache, but it was still nothing like my hangovers. I do not miss the pain and regret after another day of drinking.

It is so nice to have at least some of my self respect back.

Interesting comments about alcohol in the media. I visit another forum where part of the conversation often involves drinking (by people who are able to moderate, for the most part.) I have started to think it might be best for me to avoid that forum, or at least reduce my visits for a while while I focus on my recovery.

Good morning! Starting day 3. I woke up at 5am with a nose so stuffed up I couldn't breathe. It's been like that off and on for the past month. I'm sure the booze binges haven't helped.
It feels good to wake up clear-headed. Day 3 is usually tough for me (yeah, I've done this several times before, I make it to day 3, 5, 7, and once 90 before caving to the AV). Luckily, I now live in Utah, where you can't buy booze on Sundays! You can get 3.2 beer at the grocery store, but why bother? Bars are also open, but I don't usually go to bars.
Will hopefully get out for a nice run later this morning.

Thank you Dee. I said to my husband that in social situations I would be nice to her but otherwise now I am done. She's a trigger for me real bad. Got to push her aside until just like you said "I can learn to deal with her".

Went to the BBQ. There were 6 couples. All drank but hubby and me. I had lots of tea. Didn't sleep last night, but today is day 15!

Welcome to our new classmates! Happy Sunday folks!

I ended up not going to the hospital to avoid the sister in law that I can't deal with right now. Went shopping and spent the day with my daughter. She's a senior in hs. She says she's so proud of me. She's trying to be like me and not drink and resist the other temptations young people face. So many more than from when I was her age. Wish I had been more of a positive roll model all these years. With that said I "looked back at my past but didn't stare".
Day 27: thank you Lord! Thanks to all of you!

Day 8
Happy Sunday all. Hope you're all doing well today! I've been out for lunch and am now sunbathing with yet another can of diet coke. This is my longest stint in years. Keep waking up with headaches, and feel super dehydrated. (could be diet coke?!) day seven's crying hysteria seems to have disappeared overnight. Quick question:AV? Alcoholic voice? Is that right? I'm pretty new to this...

AV = addictive voice (alcoholic voice is just as good). Some folks here use what's called "AVRT" which stands for "Addictive Voice Recognition Technique" to remain sober. You can read about it in the secular connections thread.

Even some folks who don't completely subscribe to that path embrace the term to acknowledge the battle in their minds between the part of them that wants to get sober and the part that wants to hang on to drinking/using.

Thanks Dee. Glad to be here.

DD- Your dogs look a lot like my dog. My dog has always stayed pretty close but lately he's been my shadow. My boyfriend thinks he is worried about me. Not sure if that is a manipulation or if there is something to it. It's got to be somewhat traumatizing for a little pup to sleep next to his owner on the bathroom floor because she had too many drinks when his normal routine is to sleep at the foot of the comfy bed... Or maybe dogs don't think like that.? Either way, although this is only my day 2 and Im sure there is a long road ahead, being able to take proper care of my Mr. Barky Fuzz-face, is definitely a motivation.

Healthy day everyone...

Good to hear how well people are doing.

Yeh the darker one of the two sticks to me and pines if I am not near. I do worry how often I have probably tripped over them or not been there when they needed some love cause I was drunk. They are my boys though and love me so very much and I love them to bits.

Jema - I spent all day yesterday drinking nothing but water, and a BUNCH of it. The dehydrated feeling is probably the diet coke. I feel so much better today after hydrating well yesterday. Might try a day off of the diet coke? Happy Sunday and Happy Day 8!

Day 3 of recovering from a blackout drunk on Thursday night. Am feeling much better and receiving tons of support from you inspiring folks on SR.

There is no amount of alcohol that will leave me satisfied and being sober is a wonderful thing.

With alcohol in the media, I try to think of the negative depictions such as in Hoosiers, Flight, and Leaving Las Vegas. I am sure there are more.

Welcome to SR GBlueWater.

Oh no, dogs are definitely extremely perceptive, and assuming you treat them properly, will love you to the moon and back. The times where I was in rough shape, my dogs made sure to let me know, and I could easily tell they were quite worried about me. This is especially true while I was going through major withdrawals. Sounds like your dog loves you to no end too, if he / she is sleeping beside you in the bathroom.

That's actually one thing I've been noticing lately. They're quite a bit happier, or more content I guess is the better word. Not as high strung as they were before, which is nice to see. I'm assuming that's simply because I'm calmer myself these days, versus being some high strung, drunken lunatic.

Another thing I've noticed is my mild neuropathy is slowly dissipating. I can do things like put on a pair of pants standing up, without having to sit down, lean against a wall, etc. Small thing, but nice.

Then work productivity continues to slowly gradually increase each day as well, which is another welcome change. Things seem to be on the right track. Now just to ensure I don't fall down the rabbit hole, and land back in the unholy sh!t show of hard core alcoholism. I'm quite confident that won't happen though.

Anyway, hope everyone is enjoying their sober Sunday!

Good morning classmates. Starting day 13. Feeling pretty good. Good nights sleep.

I am a little worried though. I'm approaching 3 weeks soon. I've failed several times at 3 to 4 weeks. I don't really have a plan of action other than staying on SR.

Anybody got suggestions?

I can relate...just made 7 days (felt like half of my life) and was so happy, then drank a bottle of wine last night to celebrate. This morning I feel terrible. As others have said, think through to the morning after the drinking...we all hate being there. hang in there, its worth it!
