It's true V. When I'm sick, I still have to continuously remind myself that I'm not hungover.

Figured out that I probably just have been having too much caffeine lately. After that long nap yesterday, I still went to bed around ten and woke up when my alarm went off at 6. Having some hot lemon water instead of my usual coffee(s) this morning. Today I'm going to need to move it and make up for all that lounging around. But I don't feel guilty one bit. Arbor's right. Sometimes you just need a lazy day!
Off to walk the dog and head out to church for a bit. Enjoy your Sunday!

Good morning gang,

Briar, did all the critters at your mom's place make it ok?

So it wasn't lobster, but I did enjoy some oysters yesterday. I'm the only one that will eat them around here....I've never fried them myself and they were pretty darn good. Not sure whether or not to re-use the peanut oil for other things. It's kind of expensive to throw out if it's still good.

As I sat out here checking in with you guys, I saw some activity in the pool.......at least it's not a serpent.

Last day of vacation here. No real plans, but that's A-OK by me.

Oh, Mark! Ewwwwww!!!! Maybe V's cat or Hux can help you out with that?!

Not sure I would save fishy fry oil. Maybe if you only use it for a similar food again? We cannot use peanut due to allergies, but it does feel wasteful tossing oil after one fry. I do it so rarely, and only ever this past year. I was thinking of frying some fish. Have not yet. Just got a fry daddy last Year.

If Huxley grows into those ears your gonna have a nice sized pooch there. Do you have to keep a part of the yard clear of snow for them to do business in winter? (Random question I know).

I've never had an issue moderating what I eat thank goodness, so we don't fry much either......having said that, I do plan to fry some fish today. It's a recipe called catfish lafitte that was made popular by a local author that likes it. I'll use a fish fry product called zatarains for the coating though. The sauce to go on top is good and can be made with shrimp, crab meat, crawfish etc..

Unlike alcohol, I think it's ok for me to indulge in a treat like that every couple of weeks or so.

Wishing everyone the best day.

Yes, Mark, I imagine we will have to clear a bit of ground for him if we get snow in winter. Last year was not at all typical of our annual snowfall. Sometimes we get a few inches, in which case, it would not be an issue. We pretty much clean it all up as he goes or daily, so no need for a large patch.

What is this sauce you speak of, on the fried fish?

I have way too much food in my fridge. The food I made yesterday, and lots of salad items and fresh veggies. I just whipped up a balsamic/basil dressing to have with some tomatoes and fresh mozzarella and basil leaves over greens as part of dinner. The salad alone may be enough for me, and maybe a bit more protein. Son asking for steak. he already had some leftover meatballs and pasta for lunch at 10am! Growing boy. Nonstop eating some days. Now he wants a smoothie, because he saw the blender out, from making the dressing.

Phoebe - yep, mine wants a smoothie every time she spies the food processor. I usually make her one because it's healthy fruit, but then there's the clean up.

Going to be over 100 today, so just relaxing inside. Daughter wanted to go to the park...denied! Art projects will do just fine.

California weather is so variable with location. I'll bet you could drive into SF and it'd be cool. Around here, it's hot and humid in all directions. Beginning to look forward to fall....my favorite season.

Phoebe, it's a cream-based sauce with some red pepper kick and chunks of shrimp, crab etc. you put a few spoonfulls over the crispy fried fish. Not a light meal, but for an occasional treat we like it.

And last winters pics from you and Arbor blew my southern boy mind. Can't imagine it day after day.

I have a protein fruit smoothie almost every night. It's good stuff for a growing guy.

Whew, that is HOT, Briar. Hot here and it's only 88.

That sauce sounds amazing, Mark! Would be good on a mountain of pasta too, I bet!

I found some blueberries and grapes in the freezer, and a blueberry Greek yogurt in the fridge. Whizzed that up with some whey protein and milk and a touch of sugar. It was a hit. I used trivia in my own if I make a sweet one. Lemon and lime in green ones.

Here is the salad hubby and I shared for dinner tonight.

Had a big nap today. I have been exhausted. I hope it helps. Feel good now. I had wondered if I might be coming down with something. Just getting used to the new hours. I have shifted my sleep schedule by about 3 hours and I wake up frequently.

That looks good phoebe....and a tad more healthy than the fish I'm frying at the moment.

Maybe you'll become a morning person like me

So here it is phoebe....

Some of that salad of yours would have gone nicely.

Hope everyone's weekend wrapped up nicely. As usual I'm thinking bedtime by now.

Any of y'all ever been to USVI? I have to plan way ahead for vacations and would like to try it out....St. John maybe? Anyway, I don't know much about the Caribbean.

That looks delicious, Mark. Such fancy plating!

Been to St. Thomas for just a day while on a cruise, but about 25 years ago.

Bedtime for me too. Winding down with some relaxing coloring. Sounds silly, but it is a gorgeous, and very detailed, art quality book. Sort of meditative. Goodnight.

Just read your post in the 24-hour thread Mark ~ so glad you didn't kill the mouse.

And your fish, and phoebe's salad both look awesome!!

Huxley looks like he is wondering where his coffee is

I got lucky with the weather today...it rained this morning, then the skies cleared and gave me gorgeous sunshine to walk in, and now that I'm home for the day it is about to pour again. I feel like God is on my side today.

Huge hugs for everyone. ♥
