Frank is back! yaaaayyyyy!
Martina. I think you can email SR and they will change that to cap M
I joined with my cell phone (can't see sh*t of the site) and when it said user name I thought that was log in name (duh) I tried several versions of my middle name and all were taken it said. So I used my granddaughter's name and it became my username. For some reason I thought I'd have a chance once joining to pick a name but I became my granddaughter's name! People in the midwest might put it together if I used my real name so I shied (sp?) away from that. Then again, I don't know if I care. We have a very popular seasonal business coming up so I shy away from too many details. I asked AllieKat if she's been here and she said yes. Told her to look me up this year. Would love to meet someone from SR. I think AK might be MIA lately. I'm caught up reading except for today so maybe she's back. I saw Casey asking for a check in. Go Casey! Frank, hope I didn't disrupt your thread too much! It's almost 6 pm on a Friday night and I'm heading out to work till dark. I know how to have fun! Take care everyone.
Frank, you seriously are doing a great job. Good for you. Take care

I was going to google "The Others." Never mind.

Good to hear that you're continuing with sobriety, Frank.

Hi all. Just checking to thank Shabby, Cissy, Nest, Ditzy, Dee, Venecia, Martina, Hevyn and Earth for following the thread.

Olivia, I don't have a clue what your post was about, but I like people who post here.

Saoutchik, I just watched a CNN documentary on Morton Downey Jr. Genesis of The Donald?

Looking for someone to talk to, so maybe this quotation from Philip Dick will spur some discussion. As Shabby, who kindly read my manuscript knows, I'm a quotation junkie . . .

“Barefoot conducts his seminars on his houseboat in Sausalito. It costs a hundred dollars to find out why we are on this Earth. You also get a sandwich, but I wasn't hungry that day. John Lennon had just been killed and I think I know why we are on this Earth; it's to find out that what you love the most will be taken away from you, probably due to an error in high places rather than by design.”

Seems like a pretty sad summation to me Frank.
Life is about loss, sure, but not just loss.

I've written two novels, Dee. (I've never tried to get either published) One novel is relentlessly optimistic. The other is very very dark. There's probably a scary mental issue there.

Jsbodhi, good to see you! Yup, I know all about that relapse stuff. Give it another shot, okay?

Bukowski? Now there was one dark and haunted and creative soul. I think I've read all his stuff. Here's one of my favorite quotes: "Some people never go crazy. What truly horrible lives they must lead.

Hi Sadie. Thank you for posting here. The conversation is good for me.

I'm hoping that Cymbalta (anti-depressant) will kick in soon. I think it is, to some degree, since I'm posting here.

As I mentioned to someone it had been my original plan that when I got my act together and started telling (bad) jokes again I'd change my pic to a happier and healthier Frank. Hopefully that day is not too far off.

Tell me about yourself, or do I have to stalk you?

I like Bukowski's work but I wouldn't have wanted to be around the guy too much.

Yeah, I sense a bad joke in the near future so will look for updated pic! I'm trying to go to sleep soon, Day 4 so want to say adios to it soon. I was counting days, then not, back to it now.

I usually only get stalked by cats, so that might be exciting

Congrats on Day 4, Sadie. It will be a long haul but I believe it is worth it. Please keep in touch here, okay? (and this thread welcomes kitty pics).

That is the case so often, Dee. But we seem to be in an entertainment era where we are irrevocably drawn to anti-heroes. Francis Underwood, Dexter Morgan, House, Tony Soprano, Hank Moody, Walter White, and many others.

Not sure what that tells us about ourselves.

Thanks, not my first Day 4, this one slightly less sucky than first so that's good. Cat pictures, I'll have to work on that. You might want to take down welcome mat for cat pics, lol. My old lady cat foster in hospice care with me with crunched in ear would be a good pic. Her life was hell, everything wrong with her, gets rescued finally , a chance! and has lymphoma. She is enjoying every minute of this good fortune of a home, teaching me stuff about not wasting life away like I was doing in a coma

Honestly I liked Bukowski because in my drunken 20 year haze he was an ideal role model for my cynicism - successful uncompromising and drunk.

It's probably no coincidence now I'm not into any of those other guys
