Prayers for your family Gratefull.

Good comments and thoughts Team. The moderation scenario for me comes down to risk/benefit. While one certainly may be able to- several questions come to mind:

1. I failed at moderation before. How does a year away from alcohol make me any better suited to moderate?

2. What would make the ending of my story different than the multiple folks who post about trying to drink again, and failing miserably.

3. What would I be trying to prove by drinking again? And to whom? Why?

4. What will drinking give me that I don't already have? Why don't I have this and how will drinking give it to me?

5. Am I willing to give up what I've gained if things don't go as planned? Am I willing to begin again (and will I have the courage)?

Just some thoughts. Have a great day Team!

Happy Friday!! Aaahhhhh yeahhhh!!

Grateful, do check in you can and let us know you are ok. Stay strong my friend.

Loved the list ultra, spot on.

Scooter, years ago I did the same thing!! It was so unbelievably gross, I can easily still taste it in my mind, even though it was many years ago!

Lately I have been actually remembering what the alcohol feeling is truly like, with no glamorized thought about it. I am not actually craving that feeling of confused numbness. Funny though, hard to put a clear description on what the av in trying so hard to make me feel I am missing. I think it is the lifestyle and perceived crazy fun. I basically have that back now, but in a better way. Therefore, by logical extension, nothing is missing and the av position is an unsupported statement anchored in a past emotion. Gone. Deep there dude...

Hey all

So usually I take time to post moving between trains and office but today was so rainy I focussed on dashing from A to B

I just thought to myself - how nice to be in on a Friday night listening to the rain come down, nice food coming up, totally relaxed and ready for a film and TV night. No drama, no drinking, no regrets!! Love it

Happy weekend to all. Hope you are all having a great Friday.

Excellent posts london and Determind!

No news here, it's rainy and dull, here, but I'm in a good mood, and like london, am enjoying the rain pounding on the roof whilst I do some reading.

Hope you are all well,, and enjoying your Friday,

Much love xxx

Determined, I just shared your post with an individual I've been messaging with who is scared to go alcohol free side it has become so ingrained in his life. Powerful thoughts about life present and past.

I've also shared the Team's thoughts in general over the last week or so. We're blessed to have found each other and our individual strengths and perspectives compliment each other beautifully.

I acheived one of my SR goals today as I posted my story in the "stories of recovery" section. I don't know what recovery is or isn't but I knew that section was for sharing stories of one year+ to give others hope- so threw my "I used to know This guy" on there.

Another SR related goal was to still be around in August of 2015. A member wondered early on how many of us would still be here in August. I committed to being here. My committment stands.

Thanks for everything Team- let's keep up the good work!

Happy Saturday! What's up butter cups!

Pin and London, I love rainy days! Just chillin and listening and watching the rain, good for the soul.

I am really looking forward to the fall, ready to get some fireplace wood already. Cannot wait for the crisp air.

Gonna hit the gym and then rock out later with someone I have never played with. Getting used to doing this clear headed now, changing the association slowly but surely.

Hope everyone is healthy and strong. Stop by and say hello today.

Let's start thinking about year two peeps! Gotta set some new goals.

I am going to look for the section you mention, I have never seen it.

Good morning! Saturday-woooo!

It's chaos around my home today-our yearly town festival is right outside my door, and combined with the arena and construction-Wow!
I'm finishing final papers this weekend, then will have a week off until next term. Horrible week at work-pushed through anyway and ended up on top. Over and over, integrity wins.

Love the posts this week. It makes sense that we might renew our commitment. Not drinking is now a habit with us-but it's more than a habit; a thoughtful choice and commitment. Lot's more around the corner for us, now that we are on this path.

Love to you all!!!

Hey all

Hope you are all doing well. I had a good day yesterday. I did my morning AA then took a friend for a swimming lesson followed by a great Mexican burrito lunch. And a chilled evening, just lovely.

This morning I am having a super strong Starbucks then heading to the gym and going to go for a long run

Choobie - hoping you enjoyed the festival :-)

Have a great Sunday all

Good Sunday morning folks!

Gradual, do check in and let us know you are ok.

Everyone's weekend sounds fab so far. I made it through my little music jam and dinner last night. Whole family came as kids were there too. When I walked in, first question was, want a beer man? I said, no thanks I quit drinking a year or so ago, I brought some non alcoholic beer though, got a cold mug? Folks looked at me for a second and said cool man. No big thing at all. I did feel a craving a bit beforehand, but not too bad. I tell you what, felt great driving on the way home, head clear as a surgeon. Having a plan is so helpful.

Mexican burritos sound fab London. I think I will make that later.

Rock on!

Mmmmm....burritos. There is a authentic Mexican food truck that's not even a block away that I might have to checkout today.

We all had fun at the festival yesterday. We've started grocery shopping as a family, and it's so much more fun and less stressful! We've made a lot of family changes this year, and it's benefiting all of us.

Great to hear that you had fun at your jam, determined! So much better without numbing out and getting stupid! And a clear head, too.

Sounds like you are having a great weekend, London!

Dropped off for a bit. I was doing very well. 1 month 5 days with no blackout episodes. I admit I was not completely abstinent. There were a few times I drank but did not overdo it. Made changes...cut out places that were triggers, etc. Last night I fell back into old habits. My husband and I went to a concert last night then went out after. I should have come up with a plan. Drank too much, feel so terrible today, really ill. I caught up on your posts. Glad you are doing well and winning the fight! Keep up the good work! My journey continues!

Greetings!

My summers have been one long party since I retired. I am either entertaining, eating out, at a party or at the beach. It feels great after the long tough winter. This summer I do not care how h-h-h it gets (hazy, hot, humid) after that miserable winter I will not complain!

I breezed through the lobsterfest on Thursday by sticking to my plan - I took my delicious chocolate cake and cherry brandy sauce to go - tossed the sauce and ate the cake as soon as I got inside. On Friday I went to the outdoor cafe where I had my last ever drink last year. I had a frozen fresh strawberry daquiri with no alcohol. Nobody seemed to think a thing of it - most of the women got rum punch, I told them I do not like rum, and then I quietly asked the waiter if I could have the daquiri without the rum. Everyone was too busy deciding what they wanted to drink to listen to me.

It is hard for me to explain, but when I was sitting there, I kept thinking how I had my last drink at the very same table last August 16. What a difference. This is an annual daytrip, and I remembered the year before when I was extremely hungover and could not wait to start drinking to feel better. Although I am really, really looking forward to August, I feel I have now done everything I do in a normal year, and I have done it while sober. Fourth of July, lobsterfest, fancy drinks at outdoor cafe, and neighborhood clambakes are behind me.

I hope you are all doing well.

BugHugs!

Hey all

Monday Monday! I am on the train on the way into work. I had a nice relaxing weekend. I also have a day's leave tomorrow so today time to blitz my work.

Pink - hope you had a good weekend, sometimes it's nice to post nothing new. No drama!

Scooter - your summer sounds great! I must try to find the mocktail you had. Here the summer has disappeared for a while I think, unseasonably cool and rainy.

Determined - hope all is good. Sounds like you are in a good place.

Ultra - how's the running? I decided to go for a half marathon late October so started a training plan yesterday

Rah - you can do it. You need to keep adding things to your plan. What else can you add?

Have a great Monday everyone

Happy Monday kids!

Thanks Choobie, scooter and London.

Choobie and scooter, aren't festivals and events like the lobster fest so much different now? At first it is a little adjustment, but it is truly a new world I think.

Rah, thanks for checking in. Tweak your plan and reset the goal. Never give in, the rock bottom moment is not a necessity. You can do this.

Great stuff Scooter! Really well done. Here on out you'll be able to say, "I have been here and done this. I can do it again". It's a whole different mindset.

Wow- 1/2 Marathon London. Fantastic! That distance has become significantly more popular in recent years since it offers the challenge of a significant number of miles with a more manageable time/training commitment. Also, it's easier on the body. A half was my original goal when I began running (while still drinking). I discovered trails while trying to cross train for the run. The furthest I've run on the roads has been 10. A road half is intimidating to me and I'm super impressed.

My training is progressing well. Not easy- but achievable. I have great running days and those that I'm dragging. I just keep in mind that the miles and time will pay off.
