24 Hour Recovery Connections Part 69
HELPING OTHERS
Our very lives, as ex-problem drinkers, depend upon our constant thought of others and how we may help meet their needs.
— ALCOHOLICS ANONYMOUS, p. 20
Self-centeredness was my problem. All my life people had been doing things for me and I not only expected it, but I was ungrateful and resentful they didn't do more. Why should I help others, when they were supposed to help me? If others had troubles, didn't they deserve them? I was filled with selfpity, anger and resentment. Then I learned that by helping others, with no thought of return, I could overcome this obsession with selfishness, and if I understood hu milita, I would know peace and serenity. No longer do I need to drink.
Let's have wonderful Friday.
Another 24 to my account please and thank you.

I'll be back in a few days. I'm headed out to a peaceful and quiet weekend getaway at the beach. I'm turning off my phone and going off the grid. Just need to shut the world off for a few days. Love ya lots, sober family!!!

grtgrandpa – thoughts for you every day
Potnia Theron is an ancient Greek phrase now used to refer to goddesses associated with animals, translated "Mistress of the Animals."
The Mistress of the Animals, carved out of elephant ivory, feeds shafts of wheat to wild goats on the lid a pyxis – a box of face powder, likely, from Ugarit (in modern Syria) more than 3000 years ago.
A generous and happy woman is someone I want to be and want to know. I’ll see you here tomorrow, I hope!

I have an assisted living "mansion" across the street. They have a little barn out back and keep pygmy goats. Their bleating is so soothing to me. I can hear them especially from my bedroom in the morning.
I have no idea why I posted that - and I want a pygmy goat.
24 more hours, please - and 24 more for everyone who wants it.
