Fradley, I'm so sorry for your loss. I'll keep you in my thoughts.

Welcome SoberRunner! Good to have you here. Day 7 was always my problem. I'd be feeling good and thinking "well, I just went a week so I must not really have a problem!" Which is crazy. In reality if I could only make it a week, I obviously had a BIG problem haha. Once you get past those first two weeks it gets a little easier, or it did for me. Hang in there and post often!

Hey! Good to see a few new faces on here.

Relapsing in early security is so easy but that doesn't make it any easier. It can feel like a crushing blow and can flatten any early confidence. One thing that makes a lot of sense to me is that relapses can be constructive provided we identify the triggers and create strategies to add to our tool box to be better prepared in the future.

I'm not sure what changed in me to get through those first few days without relapse. I think it was building close relationships with my class group on SR and establishing accountability. Also coming clean with my wife about what I have been trying to do has helped me to keep myself in check. I get the right measure if support and, of course, reproach, from her. I think I'm very lucky in that regard and am tremendously thankful for that.

When I started here I was going through a period of self-loathing and an unbreakable (seemingly anyway) cycle of giving up drinking every morning and starting again that same evening. It was like there were two of me. In the morning I was trying to bust out of a cage but in the evening I was seeking the numb security of that same prison cell.

I have made 100 days today and it's down to SR about 95%. Can't thank you all and my class of April enough.

It's good to feel free

Thank you guys for the warm welcome! I will definitely start posting more on this thread. If I would have posted on Monday, I'm pretty sure I wouldn't have drank. I was posting all of the previous days and things were going well!

I'm still mad at myself for drinking! Today would have been Day 6 but here's to a new Day 1...

I'm still working on my Sober Plan... To be honest, I don't really understand how to use a sober plan--last week I told myself I'd go for a run when I felt like drinking, but I didn't do that on Monday; it didn't even cross my mind. It's strange how I completely didn't even think about "my plan". I guess I need to focus more on sobriety and, like you guys suggested, make it my #1 Job.

Hi all,
I am from the June 2015 class. I hope you don't mind if I join this thread as well. Today is day 56 for me. I have a lot going on right now and I am not really struggling but I feel like I am on an emotional roller coaster and need to be very diligent so I don't slip.

My birthday was a few days ago and my brother, not knowing I am not drinking, brought over a bottle of wine. It is sitting on my counter right now and I am not really sure what to do with it. It hasn't been a temptation so far but I am afraid I will have a weak moment and open it. I should probably pour it out, I am just afraid he will find out.

I am planning on getting some rest today and then going up to the hospital for my mom's first radiation treatment. She has had chemo before but not radiation so this is new for us and I am not really sure what to expect. I hope it goes well.

I hope everyone is doing well and has a great Wednesday

amp123 - congrats on 100 days!!

Hi, SoberRunner, Jimuk, and Emme!

Regift that wine immediately, Emme! Either that or dump it down the sink! Drastic time call for drastic measures--and the beginning weeks of getting sober are certainly drastic times for most of us! Whatever you do, don't keep the wine around. It's already making you uneasy. It's got to go!

Big congratulations, Amp!

Glad you got through OK, GnikNus!

Amp congrats on 100 days.

For some reason I couldn't sleep at all last night. Very frustrating. So it's extra coffee for womp today!

Starting day 83 here. Have a nice day off work planned.

Fradley -- glad you checked in. You'll continue to be in my thoughts and prayers.

SoberRunner -- maybe you need to actually write/type/print/whatever out your plan of action and keep it on you at all times for now to help you to remember what course you want to take.

Jimuk -- congrats on day four and good to see you in here!

amp -- 100 days is huge! Congrats. I counted a while back, because that's the kind of crazy thing I do, and my day 100 will actually also be my real belly button birthday. I thought that was a pretty neat coincidence. You are doing great, and I am right there with you--building accountability to myself and others here on SR has made all the difference this time. It got me over that huge day 7 to day 10 where I almost always hit a brick wall before.

Emme -- welcome to the Unders. Congrats on day 56! Do yourself a favor and pour that wine out right now. Get it out of your house and your head. Wishing you and your mom the best today.

Hello to Gilmer and BoozeFree and anyone else I missed who checked in this morning. Good to see such an active morning here on the Unders thread! Have a happy and sober Wednesday!

Thank you, Casey! That's a great idea... That may be the only way to help me (consistently) remember, until it becomes a habit.

Congrats on Day 83!

Emme, I know from the June class that you are kind thoughtful person who would shudder at the thought of doing such a thing to a gift from her brother but...

That wine has to go my friend.

Please, please, please do it as soon as you can.

Thinking of you

Fradley

Welcome, Emme! I totally agree with the other Undies ... Either re-gift or pour it out as soon as you can. These early months often require some drastic changes in our lifestyle and thinking in order to be as sure as we can that we will stay sober. If your brother knew, he might even be sorry he brought the wine.

Hi - I'm from the May 2015 class. I messed up once since then, and have started a re-count, which puts me at 25 days.

I was hoping I'd be able to join in the fun here, as I learn so much from everybody.

Well, thanks!

HI CASEY!!!!

Welcome to the Unders, Sagittarius! I've received a lot of great support on this thread since the group participation in the Class of May thread has dwindled down over the last six weeks or so. Lots of other Mayflowers in here as well. Glad you've joined us!
