Hi, sober pals! Welcome to the newbies. So cool that people who have so many days under their belt are just now joining our little family. Happy to have you! Always room for more.

RT, I suffer from sleep issues and generalized anxiety but what you're experiencing sounds like it needs tended to. The numbness in your hands and feet also sounds concerning. I used to wake up with my hands very numb and I'd have to shake them out until the feeling returned to normal. I discovered that I had my hand tucked up underneath my chin or sometimes I was making fists in my sleep. You might be doing strange things while sleeping too. If you have a Dr, make an appointment. That was good advice to get a checkup. Maybe check your labwork and see if you're low on some electrolyte or something.

In the meantime, take a multivitamin and drink a sport drink once per day. I'll bet that will help some. Just take them early in the day so they don't make your sleep even worse. I hope you find relief. And as Kale said, you can't do anything about yesterday or tomorrow so just make today the best it can be and practice deep breathing, and trust. Hope you have a belief in someone greater than yourself. If not, I'd be anxious too. (Just had to say that. )

Nothing special planned today. My tracfone arrives tomorrow. Don't know if I should activate it right away or wait and see how much time they give you before you get into trouble. I still have unlimited minutes on the phone I'm using and it's still early in the month and my first month not paying them, but if they shut off my service, I won't be able to transfer the number. I'll probably just kiss this one goodbye and set up the new one. I hope Sprint doesn't use up all my minutes trying to get me to pay what I owe them. I'll probably just tell them to send it to a collection agency and stop bugging me.

Now that I've told you all more than you need to know about how I deal with my debts, I'll just say have a wonderful sober day and stay out of trouble.

Hi Guys, welcome ThursdayNight and RuffTime!

Well one more day closer to my kid coming home. She is having a good time off and on mixed with extreme anxiety from being away from home.

Other than that not a lot going on. Normal week. But no news is good news right? I feel good about getting back into sobriety in an "all in" sort of way. Like you all say there's nothing we can do about the past so I'm not too upset with myself for what happened. It was a learning experience and I am looking forward instead.

Kale, have you every had artichoke burgers? We had them last night. They were pretty good!

Welcome rufftime!

Holding on today, pretty tired from cutting back two two large coffees, but I also don't feel as wired which is a relief. Still sober today, have a great one everyone!

Hey, Allie, I'm glad your daughter's having a good time, and that she'll be glad for the experience despite her homesickness!
Never had artichoke burgers, but that sounds good. I can't imagine how they'd be prepared, so will have to google it.
Casey, your portabella fajitas sound delicious!! Did you use a recipe for a marinade or just throw things together?

Kale - isn't it crazy how we can put so much thought into our diet in so many ways yet we abused it with ridiculous amounts of alcohol for years? Yet more proof of how out of our control our addiction is.
68 sounds mighty good, Casey!.
Yes, insane. I leveraged it against the damage the alcohol was doing to my body. Guess which one was winning?

Kale, they came already prepared. They are made by Five Star Foodies.

I made a fantastic chicken taco salad for dinner, did some laundry, and had a bath. Quiet night. Time for bed.

Oh and my daughter called in tears because she dropped her phone on concrete and shattered the screen. If she wasn't five states away and crying then I probably would have cried. She was being so hard in herself that made me so sad for her.

Ending day 68 here. In an hour, I'll be on day 69 and will be officially tied with my longest run of continuous sobriety ever. Work was busy but kinda boring tonight. Off work the next two days. Think I'm going to go swimming tomorrow. I will be more careful about not getting a sunburn this time.

If you go back to pages 22-24 or so of part 2 of the Class of May 2015 thread, a bunch of us talked about how we came up with our user names and avatar pictures. Here's a link to mine about my Dr. Nut soda collection:

Just winged it. Little low-salt soy sauce and olive oil for some moisture, bunch of different random spices, portabella mushrooms, onions, red and green bell peppers, poblano peppers for just the tiniest bit of spice, only marinated for 30-45 minutes, then cooked on very high heat so that flavor gets seared in there, served on some homemade tortillas from the tortilla factory down the street with some fresh avocado slices. Pretty simple but delicious.

AllieK -- I can sympathize with your daughter. I dropped my phone the other day. Only has one crack in the glass but it's a huge one running right across the middle horizontally. I might take it tomorrow to see what it'd cost to fix it. Hate spending money on things like that though and the phone is still usable as is. I've also found that I'm not on the phone near as much anymore now that I'm sober. I did A LOT of drunk texting, it seems.

Cissy -- I'm also on a no-contract phone plan. It works great and saves me so so so much money compared to Sprint, Verizon, ATT, etc. I still get love letters (aka letters from a collection agency) from my last contract
with Verizon that I dropped out of a couple of years ago. I use Sprint's no contract service. Never have used Tracfone, but I'm betting they're all basically the same.

nmd -- glad you checked in. Good luck with the caffeine withdrawals.

Welcome, rufftime! Glad to have you here.

All of this food talk is making me hungry! Someday we'll have to have a May 2015 Class party so you can all cook me these delicious meals you're always talking about!

Hello Friends, thanks for the kind words and advice. Doing ok this morning despite another rough go at the sleep thing. Perhaps 4-5 hours of mediocre sleep is all my newly alcohol-free body needs? Went running yesterday for the 2nd time this week so hopefully that will help too. It seems to help with the anxiety anyway. I did go to the doctor a few weeks ago. Everything checked out fine with the exception of slightly elevated liver enzymes (which I found interesting because I really hadn't had any alcohol in about a week prior and drank in moderation for a month prior to that). I got to go to a specialist (which had a terrible bedside manner), get a few more blood tests and a CT scan. The second set of tests came back normal (a week since first test) and the CT was clear (thank God--cissy, yes I do believe in a higher power). Since then, the insomnia and anxiety has gotten worse. I do have an apt with a therapist tomorrow to talk about it. I'm really trying to avoid taking the direct path to a pill that makes me sleep, but after last night it seems tempting. Anyhow, thanks for reading. I wish everyone a great day ahead!

Starting day 69 here. Bill and Ted's favorite number and am now tied for my personal best run of continuous days of sobriety. I try to stay in today most of the time but have obviously been excited for this day and tomorrow for a while now.

Amazing when I look at a calendar how short 69 days seems while in my head it seems like a lifetime sometimes. My life has changed so much since I took that last nasty sip of scotch and water at around 11:30 pm on Thursday, May 7, 2015. I would not be sober today if it wasn't for each and every one of you. Whether you have drank since joining this class or not, you have kept me sober. Thank you!

Off work today and tomorrow. I've decided I'm going to go buy myself a used Xbox 360 video game system this morning. Been kicking around the idea for a while now and am finally going to act on it. I need something else to do around the house. I'm getting the older system because there's a bunch of games I want to play for it, plus it's a lot cheaper. I'm going to work an extra shift this weekend to pay for it as getting a car is still my number one financial priority.

I will most definitely be going to an AA meeting this evening though. No ifs, ands, or buts.

So that's probably what I'll end up doing with most of today. Already talked to my stepmother and am planning on going out to lunch and to the pool with her and my nephew and maybe my youngest sister and baby niece tomorrow afternoon. I will be more careful this time as I don't want a sunburn like I got eight or nine days ago.

She hasn't posted in here about it, but our classmate Dharma33 celebrated two months sober yesterday. There's a thread in the Newcomers Forum celebrating this, in case you haven't seen it yet.

Hope everyone has a safe and sober Wednesday! So happy about day 69.

Dee's right--the sleep will get better with time, but I also don't see any shame in taking a sleeping pill if that's what it takes. As long as you're strictly following a doctor's orders, of course. Hang in there and let us know how the therapist appointment goes, please! Wishing you the best today.

Welcome to Rufftime 719! I'm one day behind you in my sobriety so I can totally relate to your post. My anxiety does seem to be easing, though. I've been doing things to distract myself - reading something positive, digging in the yard, etc. Hang in there!

I subtly flipped off the wine aisle as I walked by it. Showed them who's the boss!
I know that was several posts back, but that made me laugh.

Dr. Nut - thanks for posting the link about how everyone came up with their names. Very interesting!

Mine shows a complete lack of imagination (unlike the very cool Copper story). It was Thursday night when I first sat down at my computer and found this site. My avatar is Louise Brooks - a movie star from the 1920s. I have always been fascinated by her look.

By all. Time to get ready for work. Have a FANTASTIC day.

Hey Maybles-

Feeling a bit better today, drinking a lot of water and pushing through the afternoon drowsiness. My goal is to get down to one 20oz coffee in the morning, half of where I am today. I don't want to drag out the withdrawals too long, so I might drop down to one cup in a few more days. A bit more radical future goal might be only coffee on the weekends and break the caffeine dependance 100%, but I'll wait until I'm sober a while first.

I really do think the edginess of consuming so much caffeine was helping feed my av, not 100% to blame, but a factor. I got into the coffee habit and used it as a crutch partly because drinking and medical reasons that made me tired (vitamin deficiencies and apnea). I take vitamins and use a cpap, so I'm hoping to break out of the cycle.

We had BLTs from the first red "early girl" tomato out of the garden last night (and lettuce from the garden as well). It was 100% better than store tomatoes, but still not quite peak flavor. We've had so much rain I think they were watered down a little bit. Still exciting getting something out of the garden though. :-) I keep checking my hens for their first egg, but haven't found one yet. Their combs are turning red and getting bigger, so that is a good sign I think.

my username is simply "no more drinking." If I chose a name again, I'd probably go with a more positive affirmation, but I'll just leave it be. My avatar is the dog from the movie Up getting distracted by a squirrel, which kind of reminds me of my AV at work.

Good day all!

Been catching up here a bit, then I shall eat and head over to work. Nothing exciting in my world. Tomorrow and the next day I'm off, so tomorrow we're all heading to a water park. I've never been to a water park before, so should be interesting. Its the first time we're getting out and doing something this summer.

I'm feeling better today . Still working out the kink in my neck/head but its starting to get better.

My name is not creative at all. I'm a sagittarius.

Hope you all have a great Wednesday!!

Just started raining here. It looked like my town was in the crosshairs on the weather radar and then the storm cell did this odd thing and took a left and went down a secondary highway. I thought we were going to have some excitement but NOOOOO. My dog is happy (somewhat) about that but I'm let down. I love storms.

Garden tomatoes! Someday I hope to have some of my own. My little plant is doing its best. Looks like I won't have to water it today.

My tracfone just arrived! Looking at the package, it says, "Plans start as low as $7 per month." I was under the understanding that there was no monthly charges. Am I wrong about that? If so, interesting how they failed to mention that on their website or anywhere on any forum I investigated.

Gonna go play with this thing. Have a nice sober Wednesday/Wednesnight.
