Hi everyone. Things are going quite well here. I've managed to do some form of exercise every day over the past 7 days. I'm keeping a record of what I'm doing, and I'm hoping to turn some flesh in to muscle. I find the arm exercises the most difficult, I must have quite weak arms, but I'm getting stronger. I'm aiming for 3 days of cardio, and 4 days of strength training. It's a skipping day today.
I've taken all of my body measurements as a baseline, and I'll redo them every four weeks, to see if my body responds to these efforts.

I want to be as fit as a fiddle by Sept, for our holiday.

How's everyone doing? Hope all's going well.

Hi Fools.

I'm still here, clean and sober.
Things have been kind of rough and depressing but fortunately I don't even really have much of a urge to use and even if I do think about it my subconscious steps in and reminds me that it won't help. May even make things worse.
Got contacts last week, I'm nearsighted, and they have worked good at improving my distance sight but have really messed up my close up eyesight. I go back to eye doctor later this week, we'll see about trying something different. This has made me reconsider getting lasik down the road, reading online that this can be a complication.

I hope you enjoying your trips obo and adna.

Good job rocks, hope you enjoy the rest of your summer.

Sorry to hear about the chick free. Sounds like a good plan for the exercising.

I hope your new job works out izz.

How are things going Dee and ST and Mariah and everyone else who is lurking?

Have a great day everyone.

UP, sorry to hear that things have not been good recently. I hope it turns around for you. I'm also due for an eye check up, but tend to put it off because there always seem to be a deterioration in my eyesight (I wear contacts too). I hate the thought of yet another prescription. I think half the trouble is working on computers so much, it can't be good for the eyes.

Hoping to be home early from work tonight, or at least on time.
Work seems to be taking over my life at the moment, I need to get a bit of balance back.

My retreat seems such a long way away now.

I've been listening to a lot of Eckhart Tolle teachings, I've found it to be very helpful. I have a note on the wall above my desk which says "make friends with the present moment", easier said than done sometimes, but it's possible, apparently whatever the circumstances.

Have a great day everyone.

UP, hope today is a better one for you.

Had a chat with a work colleague yesterday, about drinking. It was interesting to see her reaction when I told her I don't drink. Some folks seem to visibly shrink away from the notion of abstinence. I came home feeling so good about my choices, no longer in that dreadful cycle of addiction. I don't envy those "moderators" one bit, because they also depend on their fix, even if it is moderate.

We've saved so much money over the past 16 months just by not drinking. I estimate about £2000!! And that's not including the time waste - about 640 hours of slumber, that's the equivalent of over 26 full days (and nights) lost.
So on the positive side, I now have the equivalent of a significant pay rise, and have more time for leisure, without having to apply for a different job!

Have a great day all.

It doesn't look like it's going to be free but c'est la vie.
It seems like I never think and find a way to hurt and drive away those that I care the most about.

It's good for you to notice how much not drinking has improved your life.

Got a little reality check last night while I was talking with a friend. She mentioned an article that someone she knows shared with her about an emergency center placing a bowl with percocet in the waiting room for people to help themselves saying that it reduces their patient load since junkies don't have to con the doctors to get a prescription. My subconscious might remind me that getting drunk or high won't help things but seeing that triggered the deep seed. It's a reminder that I need to remember that I'm still the same addict that I was just in recovery and it would be easy to fall back into that trap.

Have a great day everyone.

Yes, it would be way too easy, UP. We all have to stay on top of our game that's for sure.
You've mentioned "pushing people away" before, it sounds like you want that to change. Is anyone helping you to practice the art of building healthy relationships?, because I'm told it is an art and all of us can learn the knack.

Hoping to have a productive day today at work.

Have a good day all.

The best thing you can do now obo is to stop drinking. Don't give in, you stumbled, now it's time to get back on the path. For you, your wife and your little girl. You know that being sober is much better for you and them.
Praying for you obo.

Yay!

Being around family can really bring out those core wounds. I hope things calm down a bit.
