Sunday's come round so quickly! Just about to pack my Hoover and cleaning bowls/cloths in the car boot, then zip to my parents house. Apparently my Mum had a fall yesterday, she's OK, but it's knocked her confidence. I don't know how much longer they'll be able to manage without a bit more help. I'm doing what I can, but it might not be enough soon.

As they say "getting old isn't for wimps".

On the plus side, it's a beautiful Autumn morning, the birds are singing, and I have time for a peppermint tea before I go.

Have a great day all.

Btw, Brene Brown has a new book out called "rising strong". It's about how people come back stronger after big (or little) mistakes, or a fall from grace. I'm thinking about getting it on my kindle. She studies shame and vulnerability, so it is probably quite relevant to those of us who still have some past wounds to heal.

Thank you for your well wishes! She's a bit bruised and battered, after falling down some granite steps, but it could have been a lot worse.

The weekend is drawing to a close, hope everyone's had a good one.

I'm just starting to read that Brene Brown book I mentioned. I'm hoping it will help to pick myself up from my next fabulous failure. I have a big project at work coming up, which has humiliation written all over it! It's not till we get back from our holiday, so there's plenty of time for me to worry about it and procrastinate on doing anything to help me prepare for it. I can't quite believe I'm reading a book to help me cope with failure, rather than spending the time planning for success! I crack myself up sometimes.

It's been a beautiful September day today. The swallows are all gathering, waiting to head off to Africa, for warmer climes. I always feel sad when I see the swallows leave (or is that jealousy?)

Is it spring in Oz, Dee? Are things warming up for you out there?

Only 5 days until I go on holiday. I have quite a bit to do before then, but it's looking good at the moment, no crisis to speak of yet.

Hope everyone's had a good start to the week.

Hi Mariah.....Thanks.....
Good to hear from you...!!!!
How's everything going?????

Freein: I'm following in your footsteps. Looking deeper into recovery this time. Not taking the process for granted.
I think this is one of those things the more you put into it the more you'll get out of it.
It's like doing homework......and that!

One thing I've learnt/still learning is that this need to come first and then all else falls into place. This for me seems to be a fact.
Serious caution and or precaution must be taken by me to read what's going on around me.
Vigilance is King!

I hope all are well out there. This thread is losing steam, but has saved me twice!!!

31.

stay tuned...........

Great to hear you Mariah, I'm sure you'll get a lot from a renewed spiritual practice. It has been my main focus since letting go of alcohol.

Obo, I've been missing our comrades too. I suppose it's a natural progression to start off with a lot of mutual support, and then for people to find different paths for their life. I hope we hear how everyone's getting on at some point.

It is so important to make sure that we all get the support that we want/need. It helps me so much to check in to SR daily. Have you started to post on any of the other threads to widen your network? In a few days time I'll be away for 2 weeks, so I want to know where to find you when I get back!

UP, how are you doing? Hope you're getting a better nights sleep.

Have a great day all.

It is spring yeah Freein

It'll alternate for a while between cold days and hot ones for a month or so

Just read this in my Brene Brown book:

"The opposite of recognizing that we're feeling something is denying our emotions. The opposite of being curious is disengaging. When we deny our stories and disengage from tough emotions, they don't go away; instead they own us, they define us. Our job is not to deny the story, but to defy the ending - to rise strong, recognise our story, and rumble with the truth until we get to a place where we think Yes. This is what happened. This is my truth. And I will chose how this story ends."

Thanks Freein....
I hope you're holiday is ace, as we say!

I'm thinking about support over the next while too.
Last year when this all kicked off for me, it was incredible how much support the fools had for each other.
I guess you're right, it's the natural progression for everyone to find their own path.

I feel quite stable and sure footed but I do know how quickly that illusion can fade.

I will stay around SR for my second year of sobriety, I need the daily reminders I think.

I'll be quite easy to find, you can trust that!!!! (I'm not exactly politically correct)

UP: hope all's well mate!

stay tuned.............

Mariah, you've made the right decision, all you need to do now is stick to it, never turn back. Sober living is living wholeheartedly, dive in, the waters fine!

You can definitely do this <3

Hi everyone.

I'm still here and managing, one day at a time.
I feel like life has turned against me but I'm still clean and sober so things could be worse.

Sorry to hear that you are having trouble still Mariah.

Hi Mariah....

I cant really give advice, but can offer full support.

I can share this. When I had a drink it took me a while to come good. There was a Friday night, about two weeks in where my AV was right up and about.
I was so close to drinking I had one in my hand.
It was a tough night and I just went to bed.

That was the real turning point in version 2.0 for me.
On victory on a Friday night, gave me the belief and incentive to get right back on the wagon, right up the front even.
I know the cycle your talking about and this is going to sound ridiculous but it's as simple as staying of the juice today....
The rest follows.
Forgive yourself for anything that your tripping on...
Don't think too much about being sober forever.
Surf the threads here all day and night if necessary....

most of all.....

stay tuned...........

Thank you all.....went to two AA meetings today, both really good meetings that I cried through. Welcomed with open arms again.....I know I've said it before, but I am going to take my seat there......I KNOW it's where I need to be. Took teen Son to do some school shopping.....first day of Junior year tomorrow....Love him so much & know he'll be on his own now before I know it. Other Son at home refused to go get me more alcohol when I asked him last night....told me I was doing better when I wasn't drinking & hat he wouldn't support me in it.....thanked him for that today. Onward I go

I liked the Gifts of Imperfection by Brene Brown. Let me know if the new book is good free!

YAY OBO ON A WHOLE MONTH!!

Mariah, I'm glad you're seeking more support. I know how hard this is. It's nice to see you back!

UP, glad you're still here and sober too

I'm trucking along. Just crept past 9 months sober now. HALT has been a big one for me too. I find that tired and hungry are my two biggest triggers. I get quite hangry. Trying to work a bit more on self care. Feeling a little overwhelmed and gloomy today. Think tiredness has a lot to do with it. Labor Day was a nice break but I threw off my sleep schedule. Hopefully will get to bed earlier tonight.

Hope all are well!
