Yea, I do have an suv. I just don't really know where to go. Seems like people around here either stay home or go out to bars, don't want to go there.
Seems like all the people that I know have to do with my addiction so I don't have anything to do with them anymore. I have no one to blame but myself for that.

You should be happy about having those days. I think breaking the zoning out habit is the hardest.

Great to hear that you're stringing days together, Mariah. I love pottering around book shops too.

UP, are there any church activities going on in your area?

I think, the ability to make friends is a learnable skill. It does take some effort though. The first step is to seek out situations where you can actually meet people, then you can start practicing the skills needed to get to know a person better. It does make us feel a bit vulnerable at first, but over time it gets much easier, and more fun. It's really worth it though, and sometimes friendships can develop between the most unlikely people.

Take a step towards people UP, even if it's a baby step. What have you got to loose?

Have a great end to the week everyone.

Ugh ... having a horrible day physically. I woke up feeling like I had fallen down the stairs.

I'll have to look into church activities even though I'm not too fond of organized religion. In my opinion they don't seem to focus on the true teachings of Christ.
Anyway .....

Have a great day everyone.

Hope you are are feeling better tonight Up

Just checking in here.......I am having a pretty good day, had a response to a job I applied for, the one that I was most interested in & am scheduled for a phone interview early next week & feeling hopeful about that. Hot here today, so I took Granddaughter dog to the dog park & walked to the river with her. Am on my own tonight, as usual & have plans to take a power walk & go swim laps at the gym & soak in the Jacuzzi there. I am committed to a clean & sober week-end & hope you all have a good week-end

Morning everyone.
Mariah, that sounds really promising on the job front. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you.
UP, you can do this. Just baby steps in the direction of potential friends, and before you know it you'll have your own little flourishing network.
It's a beautiful sunny morning here. I'm in for the Bargain.

Mariah, that's great, you're back on track. Enjoy your evening.
I'm waiting for my porridge to cook, then I'm off to my parents home.

Has anyone read any of Anthony De Mello books? He was a spiritual teacher, a Jesuit I think. His books make a lot of sense to me, very enlightening. I love hearing about the different paths available towards enlightenment. There really is something for us all.

Hope everyone's having a good weekend.

Maybe I will be able to fall asleep before the sun comes up.

Have a great weekend everyone.

Hello fools-

Hope everyone's doing well. Up, hope you got some sleep.

We just returned from our Oklahoma vacation- lots of family there.

And the new church situation continues to be greet. We're Baptist- did I mention that? No church is perfect, but there's a lot of good stuff going on.

Obo, Mariah- hope you're still stringing days together. Every day counts!

I'm not where I want to be- but better than I've been so I guess that's improvement!

Have a great week everyone .

That's great Izzy. I'm so glad the church situation is still good.

I watched a TED talk yesterday called something like "everything you think you know about addiction is wrong". Anyway, it had a few interesting points. Having a sense of connection seems to be a major issue in recovery. For me, the reconnection is still an on going process, I can feel the healthy connections (with relationships, work, leisure, home etc) becoming stronger over time, and this is weakening any thoughts of wanting to disengage by drinking. I can also relate my drinking history to a time when I really wanted to disconnect from life, from myself mainly.

It makes perfect sense to me.

Have a great start to the week everyone.

Hi Izzy - I am glad things are going well for you

That is interesting Freein.....always appreciate the insight you share with us. Hope you have a great week!

1 week for me today.......I know its not much, but enough to help me feel I have a good "foot hold" to continue, knowing this is the life for me! I've been doing a little reading about Mindfullness & Meditation, as I really think it will be at the top of the list (next to relying on God to guide me) to help me stay centered & combat my anxiety. It really is a simple act, with huge benefits.

I hope things are OK with you Obo, thinking of you & your family. Hope to hear from you soon

A week is definitely a good foothold, Mariah, you're a star!!
You know what to do now, just keep keeping on

Not a very productive day for me I'm afraid, but hopefully I'll be a bit more energetic tomorrow. Every now and then I seem to get a bit of a down day. I'm getting used to it now, so I just have a lazy day then make an effort to bounce back the next morning.

Hope everyone's had a good start to the week.

I hope things continue to be great izz.

I know what you mean about not not being very energetic free. Unfortunately I have more non energetic days than energetic ones.

Have a great day everyone.

Thanks Dee, we're all trying to follow in your sober footsteps!

I have quite a bit of driving to do today, so I'll be listening to some audio books. Sometimes I can't believe I'm being paid to listen to books - perk of the job I suppose. It's tough!

Hope everyone has something to enjoy today, however stressful the rest of the day seems.
Each day is a blessing even though it might not seem so at the time.
