Andy,
it will stop. It's the dang waiting. Hope your wait is short. Nothing in my life all over the world was worse in pain perceived and real than my last two years of alcoholism. Even when they stuck those spikes in my arm to measure the loss of nerve response from my cervical issues.

I don't read the instructions until I have to and my doc knows I don't want any drugs. See they don't have to tell me to call the doctor right away if I feel suicidal, or have blood pouring out of my orifices, any orifice. Luckily I'm free of all heart lung and circulatory issues as well as clear of diabetes BP issues and the rest. I just have frame alignment issues that I am seeing a good frame specialist for as soon as we get the dadburned new house done!

FBL,
Me too! Lil Rascals had a long history with cast revisions too. Have you been watching any of TCM's Shirley Temple month Movies? I just watched Little Miss Marker and Bright Eyes the movie that made her a true top star. Stayed up until 3:30 last night. Growing up in the NYC area from age 7-18 put me right there with the independent station WOR and WNEW that played nothing but reruns. All day and nights until sign off ( remember that) they ran.
Got me hooked on the classics of the 30's and 40's and even some of the silent ones but not many.

Drake,
glad you got what you wanted! I had to call in too and got that the second day after being selected for the pool. My case pled out in pre trial and the trial was canceled. We are flooded here too. Saw news of your area too.

Hi Gil!

RZ,
Gotcha. Now I am confused, does not the right handed drummers have their hi-hats on their left and the main Bass drum pedal proximal to their right and vice versa for the sinister ones. That is almost as confusing as my politics. I'm left on the right issues and right on what's left. I left that right in front of you to debate!

IP,
why not plan on a night at an AA meeting?

OLL,
Good family time is good any way you slice it. It is like apple pie to me. Even a bad apple pie is better than no apple pie.

Mags,
Don't worry I have to go back sometimes too to remember who did what to whom and for how much!

A TV program you mean? About an adventure in your own backyard? Hey we don't get all the UK programs nor watch many of the ones we do. Hint?

Pippi,
Congrats on your upcoming milestone. ( Let's start calling them Smilestones!) Funny how we want to get back with our peers with each year we get past. For me it's because no one else can appreciate it, nor give two spits about it. But for us:

FG,
“Given the choice between the experience of pain and nothing, I would choose pain.”
―William Faulkner
I'm up for a little complications, and a challenge or two! But thanks! I know what you mean and wish that for you too!

I've got some challenges and some real complications what with the new house some back and neck pain and the flooded five acres. I could sell it all and whittle myself down to nothing to take care of, or to shape and form to my liking. Nahhh. Isn't it funny how we complain about our computers when some don't have food? The price of electricity when most of the inhabitants of spaceship earth haven't any. My flooded acreage when some have none. My new house coming when some have no roof ever. My sniffles when Ebola roars through the bodies of others. My slight hearing losses compared to the deafening between the silences.

You know what folks, coming here makes me remember my gratitudes not platitudes. I like it like that!

Hi PippoRossi , nice to meet you!

Itchy, lol, I was referring to 'evening all' from Dixon of dock green, when I was a kid, many moons ago. Yes, I agree, it's Good to remember how blessed we really are.

I remember reading on sr how people found life so fulfilling and gets better and better the longer sober. My ears were open, I hung on to this promise of a life, full but without booze. What did I have to do! My life up to now has been quietish since I got sober. But things are slowly happening. Things I would never have dared planned when drinking , in case I'd be hung over or drinking, one of those states. I feel like the proverbial flower, starting to blossom.

I'm taking my step mum for lunch, arranging afternoon teas at our village hall, whatever next! Gotta do something about ever increasing waistline, but part of that is asthma medication. Part is ice cream.

Life does get better, I'm sad for those that didn't make it and happy for those what did.

There I go, pontificating again.

Listening to doctor who at the proms, music is fantastic.

Morning all.

Mags - I used to watch Dixon of Dock Green with my Granddad. I've been saying we don't see coppers around our area any more, then the other morning I saw two patrol cars parked in the Costa coffee car park.

Itchy - I've never investigated why my neck does this freezing thing (it was too easy to pop a pill). I will have to correct that.

Have a good day everyone.

Hi guys,

Mags I was away to say Dixon of Dock Green, you beat me to it!!

http://youtu.be/eel1_vUt0WI
Wooowee TV was exciting in those days!!

Andy, I didn't know you had hurt your feet? How's your neck now? Mine goes into spasm sometimes, I have no idea what causes it. I went to the doc and he just said I'd have to out up with it, it was my age!

Pippi!!! How wonderful to see you! How are you doing??

FG any thunderstorms around you? Poor Molly has had a few fraught days.

Drake same thing happened to me with jury service, I had been so excited about it I was really disappointed not to go.
I totally understand your going out thing, I am exactly the same. Give me a choice and I will stay home alone with Molly and a good book, but push me into company and I am the life and soul and thoroughly enjoy myself.

OLL how nice to have a week with hubby home, and to have the weather to catch up on yard work

Itchy thanks for the tune and the reminder to be grateful. I don't think I ever take what I have around me for granted, my belongings, my friends or my health. Even when I occasionally have a moan, I feel guilty because I know that there is always someone who has it worse. Yup can't even enjoy a decent Pity Party!!

Happy Hump Day everyone!!

Welcome back, Pippo!

Instant, well said.

My niece and her husband have signed the initial agreement to buy my Mom's house. Us three boys still need to take a couple of days and clear the rest of the things out. Pretty much all junk at this point. Going through this whole process has made me realize that I have some junk I need to get rid of and I've slowly but surely been ridding myself of many non-essential possessions. I've never been much of a saver anyway, so it's been pretty easy so far. There are some things that I brought back from my parents house that have sentimental value, but I'm starting to realize that my memories are more valuable than the objects themselves. BTW, Mom's still doing great in her new home. Nice to know that she's being taken care of after all the years she took care of us.

Have a great hump-day, overs!

Hump-day has been a little bit challenging so far.... busy at work in the morning and then psychologist appointment in the afternoon (which is generally hard work...) - glad it is now late afternoon and have a meeting this evening

Toots - yes, we have had some thunderstorms, but none of the really spectacular lightening (apart from over Edinburgh when I was fast asleep! - if I had been awake I would have been able to see it from my living room window) - what we have had has been enough for me, though!

I'm looking for new 'drama' series to watch on TV of an evening - just finished The Syndicate yesterday (which I really enjoyed) and wondering what is coming on soon - any ideas folks? I have bog standard free view...

If I go to tonight's meeting it will be my first time alone. So I'm nervous. Still worried about seeing someone I know mostly. And especially a couple people from work I never saw eye to eye with. Ugh.

An AA meeting Itch? Wow, I have never been to one before. Hmm. Maybe it's time. I've been having weird thoughts lately like: "if I drank right now, no one would ever know." Not that I'm going to drink but maybe best to not let that train of thought continue unchecked for too long? Or do we just ALWAYS have these thoughts? Ugh.

I broke up with my man-friend! It sucks. It was good in lot of ways but he wasn't trying hard enough. I was unhappy. I drew a line. Yay me? In the past I would let it drag on forever, just for the drama of it. I really did like him though, sigh.....

FBL thanks for the update It's nice that your mum's house can stay in the family. Clearing clutter away is such a good thing to do.

Good luck at the meeting OLL. Can't choose family or (mostly) colleagues, what are you gonna do. Grit and bear it.

I think I might go to see a free mental health counsellor in town that I met today. About my anxiety and tendencies to rollercoaster, ask about better coping strategies.

Hi Inpar , I have thought about that before, No one would know if I drank, No one would know if I didn't quite make 5 miles running. Thing is we know and, more importantly, we aren't kidding ourselves. We'd be deceiving ourselves and after the first 'lie' the second and third etc would come so much easier.

Good for you with the man break up. Difficult if he's drinking when you're in recovery.

I dreamt I drank last night but it was just a dream. I don't think we can stop fleeting thoughts jumping in our heads but they go quickly. A therapist told me years ago that if you try to stop thinking about something it will be there more! Not sure if that makes sense.

IP well done on not hanging on to a lopsided relationship. Yes it hurts, mostly because it's easy to see where, if the other person was willing to put more effort in it could have really worked, but obviously that person has gotten away in the past being a passive participant in relationships. Hopefully you gave him a wake up call and if not at least you are no longer left doing all the emotional work.
As for the 'who would know?" thoughts I totally echo Mags. I deceived myself and others for too long, lost my self respect, couldn't look myself in the eye. I would know and I have every intention of being able to meet my eyes in a mirror for the rest of my life! ( not that I check out mirrors too often...I've enough grey hairs as it is!!

Hope you're feeling better Andy.

Zip hos the foot?

Fbl I hear you on the clutter. Every time I put away. Birthday, Christmas anniversary cards I think... " we are never going to look through this lot again, why leave it just so the kids have to chuck it all out when we pop our clogs?" Problem is we have a lot of storage space in this house, until I need the room...... Yeesh! I am really glad your mom is happy where she is now.

Mags I had an awful drinking dream last night! Dreamed a woman had collapsed in the toilet at my work drunk, I had been upstairs in the staff room drinking and had to attend to her as she wouldn't let anyone else near her. Told her I was an alkie in recovery but had lapsed since Christmas, told her about SR, called an ambulance but ended up giving her a piggy back to the hospital ( as you do) and went into the treatment room with her ( had to wear a shower cap!) and decided I had had my last drink was coming back here at day one. Seriously, where does my head come up with this stuff?

FG hope the therapy went well. Yes it is emotionally draining, but good to work through and make personal progress.

Gilmer
