Good morning Marchers. How lovely to say that to you in the morning with the windows wide open because it's heading for 22C -- yippee! I know winter isn't over yet but it's incredibly nice to have fresh air flowing through the house, sunshine spilling down warmly and to be here -- at rest -- after the past week.

I've been out in my "new" little blue car -- yes Sass, a Suzuki but 18 months younger than the black one -- to get groceries. Usually I don't shop on Sundays but today is a catch-up day -- washing (laundry), groceries, baking and cooking. I've got sourdough on the rise, regular wholemeal (wholewheat) on the rise and I'm about to make a blueberry chia loaf for morning teas this week.

Mr Marcher is doing well, he's making a steady recovery, the new drugs regime is wearing him out a bit but we take it a day at a time. He's already walking Marcher Dog half their usual mile walk, yesterday he worked for two hours, he's eating well and sleeping well.

It's been found their is a leakage in his aorta as well as the arrhythmia, we'll find out more in two weeks. All the specialists grin a bit because he's slender, doesn't smoke, eats well so they can't say lose weight, stop smoking. Importantly he's sense of humour is well intact as is his outlook.

Mum's survived all this pretty well, she had an off day yesterday but is more herself today.

I've surprised myself -- in a good way. I know I fire well when the adrenaline is running but even when it stopped I kept managing fine. One bout of tears and a delightful release by shouting at an idiot driver and I'm good.

This is a very "me" post I'm afraid. Thanks for being there peeps, knowing you are all here makes such a difference.

Have a good weekend and watch out for black ice!

ETA: Oh did I say about the black ice? On the night of the accident the police and the tow truck driver said that what happened along with the weather conditions played out as spinning on black ice, the assessor agreed on Wednesday.

Marcher good to hear you are regaining you equilibrium, I hope you and Suzi have a long happy driving relationship. Black ice is so scary, I hit a patch once on a roundabout and ended up facing the wrong way, fortunately there was no traffic right on me. I also aquaplaned once on surface water, same feeling of complete helplessness as you are just along for the ride until the momentum stops.

Duff, Trachy, hubby and I were just talking the other day of our childhood summers, we would leave the house after breakfast on our bikes and not get home until tea time. No technology to keep in touch our parents had no idea where we were. We swam in leech filled mill ponds, played across rail tracks, ( who hasn't tried to flatten a penny right? Did all sorts of stuff that would have my hair white thinkin of GSon doing it now!
I used to help the neighbouring farmer harvest his parsnips, riding along side him on the tractor or bouncing on the back of the trailer swinging my legs.

Every year there are heart rending stories of children swept out to sea, or drowning in water filled quarries, getting lost on hillsides or other accidents. We cannot wrap our kids in cotton wool, all we can do is prepare them properly and hope they have the sense to use their skills if they ever need to. Protecting isn't about preventing, it is about the right kind of teaching. Duff I think you have that in spades love.

Hugs all xx

Toots de sweet let me correct one thing -- Bluey -- not Suzi! Many things can be let slide but the name of my car -- never! Especially as it's an inherited name.

ETA That blue is about the right colour too.

I had a fun adventurous childhood too. We had a paddock in the suburbs where we would all go and play, camp, battle lizards and snakes, wade in the creek etc. Our neighbouring building was a gaol from which prisoners would occasionally escape, we thought it was fun when they hid in the creek and we gave them bits of fruit and biscuits -- ah, Australia of the 60s.

Marcher, we all have times we need to share :-). Happy to hear that you and Bluey are bonding. It sounds like life is getting back to "normal".

About 5 years ago I did a "180" on the interstate on a patch of black ice. Luckily it is a lightly travelled highway and it was a slow time of day. My heart nearly stopped when I found myself facing the one-way traffic coming up behind me. There happened to be a gap between the bunch of cars I was in and the next group and I was at the back of my group. The people coming after had time to slow down and I and my car didn't have a scratch. I still shake my head when I think about that near miss.

Gilmer, how are you doing!

Have a lovely day/night!

I'm doing fine. I've got the grandkids for three days. Wednesday I have to go to the grocery store for a huge amount of shopping, then make a massive dinner.

I plan to do jack nothing on Thursday!

It always feels better to be manic than depressive!

Good morning Marchers Thanks for the giggles produced by your manic side Trachy, that was just what I needed to start a Monday morning.

Ken's I'm glad your pinsetter is back in action, it seems we twins have come to the end of our bad luck. I had my third thing yesterday, the vacuum cleaner died, I asked Mr Marcher if he thought a dead vacuum cleaner could be regarded as "the third thing" or if it wasn't serious enough to count with a heart attack and a totalled car. About two minutes later the power went out, we wondered if it was a general thing so Mr M went out to check, it wasn't it was just our place so he fixed it. We finished lunch, I was filling the sink to wash up when the mixer tap came loose. Hallelujah! The universe sent us a bunch of things to make one big third.

So how are your summer (winter for Dee) days going?

Have a good day peeps.

Sorry, Bluey! my last car, and ageing Toyota Celica told me his name was Rusty on the way home from our purchase. I sold him to the neighbours before we left for the states on the agreement he kept his name. My neighbour told me recently they had changed her name to Angela!!! Poor Rusty! What were they thinking!!!!!
