Class of March 2013 Part 42
Good morning Marchers from a really cold Paradise, there are actually words like "Antarctic vortex" and "thunder snow". Yep. It hasn't quite snowed here but we were woken just after midnight with hail hitting the windows! Hail? We get hail on very hot days in summer not on really cold winter nights... until now.
Ken I'm glad that your credit record has been sorted after those horrid people snitched your id.
Gilmer I woke up thinking your Dad's funeral was today which it is but not for another 14 hours -- which will be tomorrow here. I'm thinking of you sweetie whichever day it is.
MeSo you are doing well, stick close to us won't you.
Have a good day peeps.

Thunder snow sounds awesome!
I was flying back from Denver on Friday night and the captain announced over the PA for everyone to look out the windows on the left side. We were flying right over a severe thunderstorm. I've never seen anything like it. Like a combination of fireworks and fireflies. So beautiful.

((((((Gilmer))))) so sorry to hear about your dad! But also kind of glad for him that he is now at rest, and he did get to spend is days with you and in your home. I'll add my thoughts/prayers/good vibes to the mix for tomorrow
Diggie, good to see you busy man! Quite the globetrotter aren't you? I'll be spending a few hours in the Philly airport next month, wonder if we'll be there at same time.
Budd, marcher, happy belated soberversary!!
Budd, glad that I'd theft thing was sorted, yikes.
Marcher, my mind is mixing up "thunder snow" and "thunder from down under" confusing...
Trachy, you need to come meet my geriatric box turtle, she's lovely and great with the groups at work.
Toots, I'm very glad your mil is better! Job? Is this a new job for you?
Duff, sounds like an awesome vacation! You hit all the nerdy spots, woman after my own heart lol. It surprised me how much Chicago in the summer reminds me of San Diego. The lake smells like fresh water not the ocean, but a lot of things are San Diego like. I played with my family one time and sent them pics of a boat ride on lake, palm trees in conservatory, etc. and almost fooled them that I had flown home. that was fun
Things are a little lonely in wehavland today. Had to say goodbye to my uncle and nephew today, they flew back to Cali. And I'm at the city apartment slowly packing it up. So went from a jam packed week and a half full of people to all by my little lonesome. Oh well, just a couple/few more months and j and I will be either in a new (to us) house. I'll tell you all about the visit after I get caught up on sleep.
Ok, just one highlight... Nephew, j and I were up laaaate catching fireflies and putting them in a jar (yes catch and release). I can't think of anything better than two middle aged ladies and a six foot tall fourteen year old boy all giggling like schoolgirls catching fireflies!
I love that boy, and I'm so very grateful that I've been sober long enough that fun aunty wehav is the person he knows, not drunk/hungover aunty wehav. I almost cry when I think of how that could have looked...

Oops I forgot sassy and meso!!
Hi sassy!!
Hi meso! Welcome back kiddo. I never thought I was a twelve stepper either. I went to meetings early on because I was willing to try ANYTHING. But at 6 months, when I was terrified of relapsing YET AGAIN at the 6 month mark, I decided to give steps a try because I was again willing to try anything to break through my six month wall.
What I ended up with was that "happy, joyous and free" crap some steppers talk about. so yeah, I was reluctantly converted on the steps.
Not saying you have to run to the next meeting and shout out you want to do them. But if you meet someone you like in the meeting, someone who has what you want, maybe consider asking them to sponsor you? I actually found my sponsor here on sr. She's now a good friend in "real life."

Hi, WeHav! Good to see you!
CONGRATULATIONS, Budd!
I have made a massive mistake! In the obituary on the funeral website, I forgot a half-sister and his THREE step-siblings! And there's a relative I haven't called yet!

Hi, WeHav! Great to see you :-)
Gilmer, what Dee said! I'm sure everyone will understand and if they don't - well, that's too bad. With all of the emotions around losing someone close, I think it's surprising how much we actually get right. (((Hugs)))!

Gilmer my sweet it's not a massive mistake, it's a small oversight. I just checked your weather and I see it will be pretty warm where you are today, I hope all goes well at the service "this morning". Sending you cyber hugs across the miles.
Gilmer I'm off to bed. I wanted to leave this for you to read, I read it when I gave the eulogy at my Dad's funeral.
Death Is Nothing At All
By Henry Scott-Holland
Death is nothing at all.
It does not count.
I have only slipped away into the next room.
Nothing has happened.
Everything remains exactly as it was.
I am I, and you are you,
and the old life that we lived so fondly together is untouched, unchanged.
Whatever we were to each other, that we are still.
Call me by the old familiar name.
Speak of me in the easy way which you always used.
Put no difference into your tone.
Wear no forced air of solemnity or sorrow.
Laugh as we always laughed at the little jokes that we enjoyed together.
Play, smile, think of me, pray for me.
Let my name be ever the household word that it always was.
Let it be spoken without an effort, without the ghost of a shadow upon it.
Life means all that it ever meant.
It is the same as it ever was.
There is absolute and unbroken continuity.
What is this death but a negligible accident?
Why should I be out of mind because I am out of sight?
I am but waiting for you, for an interval,
somewhere very near,
just round the corner.
All is well.
Nothing is hurt; nothing is lost.
One brief moment and all will be as it was before.
How we shall laugh at the trouble of parting when we meet again!

After a half-hour of pre-ceremony panic, the whole gang went over to the church, and the priest was totally on top of things, telling us exactly where to stand, what to read, etc.
The ceremony was beautiful, and the homily was an excellent message bridging common ground between Catholics (me and my 2 in-laws) and protestants (the other 30 people). The communion song was pretty short!
My daughter gave a very moving eulogy that had plenty of humorous anecdotes, too.
Afterwards we all went to a reserved back room in an Italian restaurant and had a great meal.
Now me and all of my husband's family are back at the house enjoying good conversation.
Thank you for all of your support and prayers. We made it through with flying colors!
