what is true and false
this mere glance into the past
cannot discern it

do i imagine
his face above me, looking
upon me hate-filled

for what, why I ask
did this image come to me
winged viper teeth bared

true or false I ask
laying in bed at that age
knowing I was changed

like that time I woke
with pus on my pillowcase
and a throbbing ear

these are not pretty
images, not kittens, no
puppies in costumes

I'm nervous and scared
Discombobulated herd
They lead with their teeth

They run like thunder
They won't let the new guy eat
Strike! Iron shod feet

They must work it out
I know this. Please make it soon
I'm sick with worry

I can't eat either
Now is when I start to slide
The anxiety

My worst enemy
It's after me. I must cope
Addiction starts here

My husband held me
Anxiety, we talked it through
I feel better now

Got out of control
And the drama took over
Sweet peace be with me

My animals need
Me for comfort and support
I need comfort, too

I can't forget that
I take care of everyone
I get left behind

i had a good talk
with a friend about abuse
we were both victims

but we forgave our
perpetrators and that was
how healing began

the scars remain but
there is beauty in the torn
flesh of memory

we loved and trusted
but were betrayed by thoughtless
lust and confusion

cycles only end
through awareness empathy
and bold compassion

I'm not super mad:
I just feel like such a fool.
It's my own darn fault.

Some things are just great.
People can be really fine--
Really, really fine.

It's a joy to see.
Folks like that restore my faith
In the joie de vivre.

My hands are wrinkly
90 year old lady hands
Here and there age spots

They're strong and clever
Know how to comfort and love
Sigh. It's my birthday

Happy Birthday Else!
Have a happy, special day!
Throw yourself a bash!

I'm glad you're alive
And you've come to bless us here
Breath of real fresh air!

My daughter's face changed
overnight, I see her grace
No longer a child

Joy envelopes me
she goes brightly, clearly too
we did something right

he pulled on the leash and then
I had to let go

My dogs are hairy
Fur balls all over the house
Where's the housekeeper

Oh. That would be me
Dum de dum. Doing nothing
I will smother soon

My feet are straggly
In need of a good sanding
The spa tomorrow

Instead of housework
Spending my birthday money
Life can be so good

I want to give up
Sometimes. It's always a fight
Would be nice to rest

To let it all go
It could be a goal for me
I could live in peace

I once had a dog
he jumped up and licked my face
his tongue tickled me

It felt sticky, wet
but it didn't smell bad 'cause
he ate his milkbones
