Haiku Part 6
Don't know why I woke
thinking of Anita Hill's
act of bravery
Ghosts from the long past
peer at me through the darkness
and call me by name
Pubbies on coke cans
and invitations to dine
make tonight restless
Machetes and knives
block those motherf'in creeps
and all their come-ons
In my dreams I run
I'm a creature of dark holes
well hidden from view
Don't mess with me, boy
I'll bite you in half, spit out
those parts I don't like
where was I? oh yes
Anita Hill spoke out and
Clarence is a judge

my perp didn't know
that what he was doing was
a violation
he was mentally
delayed thirteen and horny
and i was so young
he wasn't evil
just confused and unable
to tell right from wrong
i can forgive him
but what is there to forgive
he's a victim too
that what he was doing was
a violation

I'm buying a horse
I'm a bit scared riding him
He's new and he's tall
Where's my confidence?
Earthy smells, dust, leather, sweat
These things comfort me
Tennessee Walker
He is smooth and glides along
Mane and tail flowing
He's black, sweet, gentle
Fifteen years since I was thrown
I know how to ride
So give it a rest
It will be ok. Be calm
Easier said than done

I was on a horse
We were going to jump a ditch
She balled. I didn't
Flew into a bush
Was a blackberry, you see
I've still got the scars
Don't look, there's bruises
Every time I've leapt back on
I'm not scared, you see.

I was on a horse
Slipped in the mud, went down hard
Landed in the creek
And that time I cried
I broke three ribs in my back
Got back on, wet, cold
Limped back to the barn
It was raining cats and dogs
In bed for a week
My horse at the vet
Me laid up with "special" pills
I was never scared
Is that woman nuts?
You might ask yourself this one
I don't even know

You might ask yourself this one
I don't even know
Don't get me started
with talking about horses
Used to work with them.
Loved every moment
with those gorgeous large-eyed beasts
The scents soothed my soul.
I miss the moments
breathing the same air as them
and hugging their necks
with talking about horses
Used to work with them.
Loved every moment
with those gorgeous large-eyed beasts
The scents soothed my soul.
I miss the moments
breathing the same air as them
and hugging their necks
