I like this thread! As a newbie, it definitely helped me work through my craving today.

Monday's are always stressful (at work) so on my way home, I had a craving to drink and automatically thought, "Oh, I can't! I pledged 24hrs of sobriety!"

It's weird how I completely forgot I was supposed to be sober but remembered this thread. Does anyone else have that problem? It's like drinking when stressed is second nature to me... In the past--before using SR--I'd tell myself I wasn't going to drink then 2 days later I was drinking, and didn't remember I was supposed to be sober until a couple of sips in.

Anyway, I'm still sober and will pledge another 24 tomorrow!

One of the difficulties with early recovery is having to make those choices and changes that support your sobriety. In the beginning, you have to actively go out of your way to make it happen, so it feels foreign and not natural at all since the default is to use alcohol to relieve stress or certain emotions. However, as you get increased sober time, making choices that support your sobriety becomes more natural since you've been doing them for awhile.

Checking in.

It's gloomy and overcast here this morning so I'm not going to see the sun waking up today. No matter. The birds are singing beautifully so I'm beginning the day with gratitude.

More vivid dreams last night, nothing particularly disturbing, but weird and in sepia (usually in colour).

Congratulations to all with milestones and welcome to newcomers and guests.

It's 6.18am and I am in for 24 more on day 28. (That feels pretty good! )

I can relate to this! When I slipped last week, it was like I had forgotten that I had chosen to be sober. Then again, I wasn't really committed to it. Feeling optimistic this time :-)
