One Year & Over Part 24
FG that is fantastic news about your niece how wonderful!
Itchy I hope your F2F meet with your RV buddies is fun, and your MIl sounds like a real battler.
Wolfie, did you find your brother? My hubby has a knack of turning invisible as soon as we enter a store. I spend more time looking for him than shopping! Your brother had a slip didn't he? Is he back on the wagon now? X
Gilmer how's the Hebrew going?
FBL, Zip Instant Drake, IP, et al happy Thusday! ( or Friday if you're there already!) xx
I have no comeback for that...any of that. But I am incredibly grateful that you all made me laugh. it's been a while.
Love to all the Overs. ♥
Oh...I have something after all. My grandma was positive that her long lost brother was Phil Silvers, the American comedian/actor and got me to write to him. He replied that it was a possibility, he didn't know for sure...so many people got lost in the Holocaust, and he had the same surname as my grandma and the same number of brothers and sisters.. So you never know. I could be the great niece of this guy.

Wow, V! As a classic TV buff, I think it's cool that you may be related to Sgt. Bilko!
My Dad did an extensive family history that I was able to help him research. Our most notorious releative was a gangster in Chicago and was most likely one of the gunmen at the St. Valentine's Day massacre! My Dad's mother was directly related to his mother. He actually stayed at my Grandma's house a few times on trips between Chicago and Minneapolis. He's even got his own Wikipedia page here: Fred Goetz - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Have a great Thursday, overs!

Hi, Overries)
Interesting discussion you are having here.
So glad to see you all!
My grand-grandfather was quite a character, an officer in the Tzar army (before the revolution of 1917 happened). He liked gambling and was no stranger to the bottle. Once he played cards and won a 3-story mansion with furniture, etc. And then lost it gambling just couple of weeks later.
Wow. I've never gave it a thought - explains my sometimes unexpected traits of opportunism showing up).
See you all)

Good morning Overs.
Toots -
We have some skeletons in cupboards but no cat ones. How about this one - two brothers married two sisters and then the two sisters each have children by both brothers interleaved
I love the stories and history around family history.
Have a good day everyone.

Now Andy are you sure it's Dick Whittington you are related to and not his cat??

Yeah, Andy. When I was young, I went to a college where a lot of really rich people went. I came from a 2nd-generation immigrant and a blue collar guy from the sticks. I took a class called "History of the Family," and the last assignment was to write a paper on your family tree.
Some people's families came over on the Mayflower! But I wrote a 22-page "tabloid" on the lurid tales of my immediate forbears: ignominious death, alienation, abandonment, drunkenness, deceit, debauchery! It was different than the others! I got an A.
(I later did some genealogical research and was able to trace my dad's paternal family tree back to the 1870s, but I didn't have much detail--just that the men were miners).
