Born 9/1/ 42 so I guess that makes me 73 today.
Drank to varying degrees, some to extreme for over 50 years.
Addicted to benzos for 32 of those too.
That's why almost 20 months sober feels pretty good today.
Slow and steady made for some stability and peace today!
Never too old to make a start!

Hearts - I'm sorry you lost your friend. Prayers for you to be comforted, going up.
Clementina - I hope the day has been a good one, despite the sadness.
Dee - we love you.
As for me, I'll take another 24 at 7:17pm in the frigid mountains of NY State.

OfF to a new AA meeting. My 2nd one of the today.
When I get home I'm going to write a consequences list of my drinking ahem...*career* and put in my wallet.
Seems I have some new lines to add...But I WILL be sober at the end of this day. And I will awake tomorrow on day 4 and soldier on for 24 hours at a time.
Thanks SR. Might be my whacked out emotions levelling back out...but I really love you guys!

2:05 pm in frigid CT. I'll be spending the next 24 hours keeping my self, mind, and heart intact.
This set of hours will bring me into the next year of my life. It will be my first sober birthday in at least 15 years, and I'm grateful for it. It's gonna be a painful one for me though, because it's also the first birthday I'm celebrating without my mom. So it will be a double trigger day, but I'm preparing for it and I'll be fine.
My whole adult life, I've always taken a moment of every birthday to thank my mom for my life. I wish I could spend the day with her and tell her again. But I am so happy I let her know how deeply I appreciate her while she was still alive.
My hope is that your loved ones are aware of how much you love and appreciate them, too.
And I hope you all are having a beautiful day! Thank you for all your support on this roller coaster of a journey.

Welcome to the end of English Toffee Day. I'm so sorry I'm late with this, what a delicious day to celebrate.....
Some factoids about English toffee:
Toffee and Caramel are sometimes interchangeable.
Toffees consist of mainly sugar and water, while caramels use dairy products in their production, making them softer
Almondy butter treats are toffee from England. This kind of candy is known globally and has many varieties.
Michigan toffee comes in varies styles, some hard and some chewy, some chocolate covered with nut sprinkles.
Tafia, a West Indian rum of molasses or sugarcane juice, is theorized to be the source of the word.
Busy, busy here getting ready for Harley Diamond to arrive tomorrow. She is my 9 week old red Doberman girl- and I am very excited to start on this new adventure.
Taking my 24, heading off for my last solid night's sleep in a while!!
