24-Hour Recovery Connections Part 32
I want to wish a Happy (and sober) New Year to everyone! I will remember 2014 as one of the best years of my life. The year I decided to live free and stop being a slave to a substance.
Got some sparkling apple juice chilling and a crockpot of chili cooking, and I am looking forward to a quiet night. I hope we all have a joyous and peaceful 2015.
And I'm checking in for 24 more! 9:45 am.

9:02am in the Sonoran Desert. Day 5 and ready for 24 more hours. Have safe, sober NYE plans. Heading to the Alca-thon mid day and over to a friend who is married to a sober man and chooses not to imbibe. Good stuff. Thankful.
Count me among those grateful for 2014 & this website. Both gave me & my family my life back. I'm finally slaying the beast of addiction - one day at a time. I truly love you all & wish you nothing but peace, hope, love & light for 2015.

The 185 is a Meeting Name. For over 20 years they've had a NYE Weekend Marathon. Other groups, some even from Las Vegas, get assigned a time slot. During that time members of that group share their ES& H. There is also food for sale.....fried chicken or fried fish, tacos, enchiladas, sodas, desserts, etc etc. Just a really great way to get together on the holiday. Many people struggle, as we know, this is an opportunity to fellowship and not be alone.
I mention this because Pasadena is a huge city. And with the Rose Parade and Rose Bowl in town ....well, just want folks to know we're here. Drop by!

Happy Old Year friends!!! 11:51 AM in upstate NY and I'm checking in for another 24 hours.
Grateful for all of the beauty and change and learning of 2014. Grateful to see another year. And also excited to bid this old year farewell.
This will be my first sober NYE. I'm used to spending it "partying" and (usually) blacking out.
I'm so excited to begin this year conscious, present, awake, and aware, raising the light and positive energy to dance in the new year.
That said...... I planned ahead to minimize temptation. Having a cozy, small dinner gathering with a few friends. Some of them are going to be drinking a little but it's not a party environment, and I'm grateful for that. I just bought a bunch of mocktail ingredients and I'm excited to experiment with some new recipes!
Also in this year's sober NYE toolbox: I planned for lots of sober activities to choose from: games, hula hoops, art supplies. And of course some ice cream
