Today we celebrate the brownie! I don't know about you, but that's something worth celebrating in my book. Nuts, no nuts, mix-ins, blondies- nothing is more satisfying to me than a rich, gooey, dense brownie/blondie.

The brownie was first created by a chef at Chicago’s Palmer House Hotel for ladies attending the Chicago 1893 World Fair.

Here, as always, even though it has not been daily- just a lot going on these days.

Nor'easter coming to my place in the next day or two- better get baking!

I missed you & your treats, VikingGF! I stayed many times at the Palmer House, and have several (dim) memories of drinking at Trader Vic's the tiki lounge/restaurant in I believe the basement of that hotel -- Trader Vic's at the Palmer House ran for almost 50 years, until 2005. A good run.

Checking in for 24 more. I don't always feel like going to meetings, but I've never regretted going. In fact the times I don't feel like going tend to be the times I need meetings the most. I'm so grateful for AA and SR. I'd rather be in a meeting rather than in jail, the hospital, or the grave.

Courage- The Monkey Head nebula is beautiful! I once saw the Horseshoe Nebula through a telescope and thought it was the most amazing thing---- I'm a should-have-been astronomer for sure. Thanks so much for that!

My hubby is 9 Years today ....I am SO grateful that he didn't give up on me in my disease. We are indeed a sober family, but also one in recovery. Learning about each other & ourselves is pretty damn sweet! I will check in for the next 24 hours of my recovery, thanks to my HP & AA.

A major consideration in my life is not picking up that first drink.
To do so could see me slip back into a crazy world where I self medicated my problems by utilizing an even bigger problem. I might say the same thing for the benzodiazepine prescription drugs.Triggers will occur, but by turning to a higher power, based on my own conscience, my chance of survival is greatly enhanced. Alcoholism and addiction solves nothing and worsens everything.
